Why import AVCHD properly storing sequences map (SD card) while the same images completely transferred to an external hard drive imports only the video with no audio?

I shoot on a Sony Alpha a65 and it uses AVCHD when recording. I have not met this problem before.

I transferred the entire contents of a memory card on my external hard drive.

I tried to import the images from the hard drive, both using the import media browser-only video clips are imported with NO AUDIO.

I thought that I had corrupted images as my memory card was images of two different rods. I turned one on 2 October and the other on 15 Oct (approx.).

HOWEVER: I then tried to import directly from the SD card - and it worked! Audio, video and all.

I can change this being, of course, but it's a concern I have obviously can't keep the SD card only for this sequence forever - and backup to external hard drive will not audio. That might mean that I won't be able to pick up on it in the future, if necessary.

Can you help solve this problem – that is, with the film which is not imported correctly from the external hard drive or why something is lost in the transfer - and explain why this happens?

Please note: I tried marqueeing everything and do drag and drop, as well as select and drag / move, when you transfer the images from the SD card to the external hard drive. I'm using a Lacie Rugged 1 TB (firewire option).

Maybe there's a hidden system files that are not copied.  You have "View hidden files" enabled and "do not show system files" in the Folder Options disabled?

Recovery of DNG issue: I have photos stored on an external hard drive which have previously been imported into Lightroom and converted to DNG.  The laptop on which I was running Lightroom died and I had to replace the hard drive and rebuild the computer.  In the process of my Lightroom program and catalog related to these images have been lost.  When I re-associate these photos with my new installation of Lightroom and a new catalogue is there a way to retrieve the keywords or other changes or metadata catalogue Mountaga?  Is any of this information embedded with the imge DNG file or was it only in the cataloght lost on my failing hard drive? I re-import just as if it were new images with no prior treatment of Lightroom?

By default, LR saves all changes in the catalog, and that applies to any type of file.

Optionally, you can save changes to the file as well, for raw files owners, this will create a xmp file - for DNG that changes are going to be cooked in the file, without additional xmp file.

But it does not default. Go to the catalog and parameters under the control of metadata automatically save changes to XMP.

Unless you do this, the changes are saved only in the catalog.

    Hope this makes things clearer.

  • Why has Lightroom copied my pictures from my external hard drive to my drive internal while the import?

I loaded all my photos on an external hard drive, created a new catalog and imported into Lightroom CC. However, there, without checking the book 'copy' copied all the pictures imported on my internal drive and they also linked in this way. Is it possible to ask Lightroom to just link the photos on my external hard drive?

If you want pictures to stay where they are on the import, you must specify "Add", not "Move" or "copy".

  • How to use on another mac iTunes library stored on external hard drive - on cable network

I recently bought a new iMac. I used a time machine to the top to move all files my new computer. I still want to use my old iMac as a media server for my network. The main iTunes library is located on an external hard drive connected to my old iMac.  I don't want to move all these files to my new iMac media because they are large enough.

I sync all my families phones/ipads on this new iMac and of course difficulties with finding them their music/songs etc. When I contacted apple support, they had me move my iTunes library to my new iMac. Now phones are able to properly synchronize and pull up all of their media. However I just duplicated 200 GB of media files. I was able to access the external hard drive to move the media. Is there a way to have my new iMac external hard accessing multimedia disc in iTunes for play and synchronize multimedia files without storing this library on my new computer?

Why not simply unplug the external hard drive and move it? And I don't think so. You can use home sharing to access the library and the Wi - Fi sync iTunes by following the instructions in the link.

  • can I import from the camera directly to external hard drive

I recently joined the mac world... before this I used a windows machine and will import directly on my SD card and my destination was my DHM. I did this strategically by date so that everything would be in order... I have my catalog related to my DHM and things were a lot until I started to import and also export it is said that they pictures cannot be read. However when I bind to the new computer, I used the DHM and LR found them without any problem. I thought that maybe my DHM has not been formatted for Mac and that could be the problem... I was wondering if anyone has any input on this subject. I spoke with someone at Adobe on a chat and screen sharing and they imported 400 + photos on my hard drive and said that I was not able to complete the process I described above. Noted that I had to import to HD and then proceed to SMT. Not sure why I would add another step when I could just import to SMT. So now I have 400 + pictures on one day in April which is very incorrect... I was disappointed with this Adobe chat person.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what is your problem, but I will try to answer. You can store your photos anywhere you want including an external hard drive. The key is when you import photos into lightroom, to 'say' where are the pictures. When you start the import process on the right side of the screen to import you set the destination for the import. You can set your internal hard drive or an external hard drive as your location as long as do you at the time of importation. If you choose an external hard drive, the pictures do not have to be placed on your internal drive at the beginning. In addition, your catalog of lightroom (record of changes, not the pictures themselves), can be stored on your internal HD or external HD.

  • Catalog on moose, updated DNG on local and external hard drive. Why?

I am running OS 10.5, I installed Lightroom, connected my external hard drive and began importing older images I can get everything organized.  I created the catalog on the external hard drive with images.  Suddenly, I noticed my local filling in car and then found in the Directory/Users/username/Pictures a complete directory of 2005 and 2006 the DNGs being created by lightroom, why aren't these saved on my external hard drive?

When importing (and import with conversion to DNG) double check where will be stored in the dialog box import your files.

Click CHOOSE it... button to change the target location.

  • Library share of photos stored on external hard drive

I currently have a library that is much too large for my MacBook Pro. I use Aperture with a referenced library, stored on an external hard drive.

I would like to be able to share our library on my MB Pro, my wife and our iPhones and iPad MacBook. When the pictures came out, I was informed that I couldn't use iCloud with a library referenced and sharing across different devices iOS and mac. (In fact, I would need only to share a part of the library on our computers and devices. Some must be on my MBP.

    Is this possible with pictures?

Or anyone has any other suggestions how I can share the photos I have with my wife book Mac and iPhone?

    Thank you very much.

    None

There is no way to share a library with Photos Aperture - there is no way to share a portion of a photo library (or iPhoto or Aperture) - library iCloud requires pictures and that's all or nothing - you can have several libraries with the photos you want to share in one and all the others in another

as for ways to share Photos and opening - a third-party site like Flickr or export to DropBox and import from there

  • External hard drive where the stored images has been corruptd. The images recorded, but now cannot connect with LR

I got LR cc 2015 put in place so that the images have been imported on my external hard drive and lightroom files were stored there. This hard drive has failed, but I was able to save all my files (original) and I transferred to a new external hard drive. Now, I can't get LR to recognize the new drive and location. LR albums have? next to them. I would appreciate any help you can give me that I have try to reconnect LR with the new source of my images. Sorry, I'm not very technologically.

    Tom

There are 153 images in this catalog, all on 1 external. Which does not seem right, or you expect very different numbers, could you give me an idea of what numbers you expect?

This seems to be an empty catalog with any folder. It seems to me that you have opened an empty catalog somehow. Could you please try file-> open the recent item and see if any of the other catalogues listed is the one you want? If this does not work, could you please try to restore a recent backup of your catalog file and see if the situation is resolved?

  • Why can I not republish media in my external hard drive?

I started a project, then had a friend to copy and paste the overall structure of the project and continue to work on that. I got it to give me a. XML file of the last sequence, that she worked on so I could open on my hard drive and continue to work on that and first is not allowing me to recreate a link to media that is in my hard drive. My hard drive is displayed but it won't let me click with inside so that I can find or look in my external hard drive. I have relinked media before without problem. What is going on?

    Hi Michelle,

My suspect your OWC drive is the problem. Frequently, OWC customers use the right of the car out of the box and it will work properly with Premiere Pro. The drive is not formatted correctly. It must be backed up and reset with Apple disk utility. Then it will work as expected.

Unfortunately, it can be a long process of moving all the media on this drive, reset, then copy it all back. Before doing all this, copy one of the files on your Mac HD and see if it can be reprinted for the moment. If so, this is certainly the OWC drive giving you trouble.

    Thank you

  • I use LR 6.5 on an iMAC. Files RAF Fuji originally, I imported from an SD card worked and exported in the form of PSD and then after saving the files on an external hard drive RAF erased from Lightroom. I now want to import some RAF b HD files

I use LR 6.5 on an iMAC. Files RAF Fuji originally, I imported from an SD card worked and exported in the form of PSD and then after saving the files on an external hard drive RAF erased from Lightroom. I now have to import some RAF of the HD files but LR shows them as dazed out and said that they have already been imported when I hover over the thumbnail. I have this problem when importing files in the same HD Canon CR2, and who have been treated exactly the same. Anyone got a clue as to why this is happening? Thanks, Phil

    Hi Phil,

If Lightroom then reads these as duplicate files, it shows that they are already present in your Lightroom Catalog.

You can search by file name and check if the image is present in your library.

    Kind regards

  • I imported my photos from an external hard drive in Lightroom, edited my photos but then...? !

    Adobe,

I imported my photos from an external hard drive in Lightroom, edited my photos and when I decided to export the originals had not been updated and deleted photos were not deleted. How I set up so that once I have import photos, edit and export they are then placed in their original case reviewed and updated?

I managed to export photos to another file, but they were exported with an Adobe.xmp file. What is it and is it necessary?

    Thanks for your help!

OK then so when you export edited LR images to tell the Office I do not need to use xmp files unless I want then to re - edit still say in Photoshop or another app?

You don't need the files xmp during the passage of LR to Photoshop. Right click on the image or in the develop module, click Photo > edit in... According to what you have set in the preferences of the image then opens like FFT, JPEG or PSD - 8 bit / 16 bit - and the new TIFF file for example automatically will return to sitting next to the original RAW LR library. If you are exporting a RAW file edited to the desktop to JPG/TIFF then changes will be permanently stamped in the EXIF of the created files.

Basically import my Raw files on the drive from Carmera card, then in LR. Edit in LR, finishing and export again say in the office. Keep or throw originals that I please...

Yes, but why would you throw your originals? You can later return to the original and the re - change all over again new experiences learned etc..

Can I see the modified pictures made in Photoshop in LR later?

Yes, see first paragraph above. If you already have a file in LR, take it in Photoshop as a JPG/TIFF/PSD, it will be automatically reduced in LR. If you modify a file outside the LR and that is not already in the LR library, say by locating the RAW file in Explorer and then open it directly in ACR/Photoshop, then LR will have no idea what you did except in LR, you choose to import the image later. Remember though, this is one of the examples where you will need to configure save metadata in xmp (at bridge) so that when you import the edited outside the file RAW LR, LR will read the xmp file changes and save it in its own database.

  • When I deleted a picture of my MacBook, why it also remove the external hard drive?

So I tried to help my wife to free up space on his MacBook Pro by putting all of his photos on an external hard drive. After iPhoto slide the hard disk and wait 40 minutes so that he could transfer, I wanted to make sure it worked. I ejected the disk and then plugged in. Of course, all iphotos were still there. Just to be sure, I deleted one file in the folder on the computer's iphoto. I went to my shock and horror, the external hard drive, that it has been deleted it too! How is that possible? I've been scouring the Internet trying to retrieve this file with no luck. It was not in the trash. There is a tab "recently deleted". Time machine was not turned on. iCloud shows nothing. I can't download any software, because the computer is completely filled. How is it possible that by deleting this folder on the computer he did also leave the hard drive? AND it has not been saved in the trash? I have used PC, and whenever I need something in return, he was ALWAYS in the trash. And if I deleted something on the computer with an external hard drive connected, it would NEVER be removed from the external hard drive at the same time. I'm so frustrated and feeling SO bad that I deleted a folder with important pictures of our kids. Is that what I can do to recover the pictures? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You used Time Machine at all? I see you say it was not on, but it never on and is at - it a backup Time Machine on the Macbook Pro?

  • Why my external hard drive cannot be mounted or viewd by a Macbook

    Hello

I can't see my HD exertenal from the finder.

I do not have G-Tech HD and I use with TimeMachine. This HD has two partitions.

The first is used for the backup with Time Machine, a macbook air, and the second partition is used to back up a macbook pro with Time Machine.

It worked fine until I look in the external hard drive (partition macbook). Now, it is not possible to mount the external hard drive. From the Finder, I see no partition eighter the first or the second.

I plugged it in an another mAcbook air and no way to see inside the external hard drive.

Howerver, I pluggged in a 14.04 ubuntu and I was able to navigate through the external hard drive

Why can I see the contents of the external HD with a ubuntu n not with a Macbook?

And how can I solve this problem?

    See you soon

    Stone

El Capitan has permissions configuration much tighter than earlier versions of Mac OS X and it can become a problem to open files from a different computer. You need to tell us what OS you are running on all computers.

I suspect that Ubuntu is having no problem because it does not under the same restraint of permissions.

It worked fine until I look in the external hard drive (partition macbook).

What you have done here, caused the change of permissions.

Don't forget that connect a player directly on a computer and use it plugged into an airport will have different permissions issues.

I don't have much in the way of a solution. Apple has changed repair them permissions on El Capitan.

You have a Mac running an earlier version of Mac OS X?

If your two partitions are used just to make the Time Machine backups...
