  • Why focus/cursor selects the address bar when you click in a new page?

This happens all the time, but most of the time... When I browse a site by clicking on the links, whenever a new page load the address bar is chosen to start typing. When I go to scroll down (using the down arrow/page keys) he'll scroll rather recent page URL in the address bar, instead of scrolling to the bottom of the page.
Looks like this behavior just started today...

To be clear, that's not something to do with the tabs, pages open in the same tab by clicking on the links at left will also affect the cursor to the address bar.

I don't think I'm in safe mode, I tried to reset firefox and this still happens. If this does not work as expected, can I disable it?

You open links in the same tab?

This also happens if you click the link to open the link in a new tab?

Have you checked for problems caused by plugins?

In the Firefox Safe mode, these changes are effective:

    • all extensions are disabled (subject: addons)
    • Default theme is used (no persona)
    • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
    • default toolbars is used (localstore file - safe.rdf)
    • JIT JavaScript compilers are disabled (subject: config page: javascript.options. * jit)
    • hardware acceleration is turned off (Options > Advanced Options > general)
    • plugins are not affected

  • Why is 20.0 insensitive address bar?

I upgraded to 19.0.2 20.0. Now, the address bar does not. After you type in a valid URL and pressing on enter (or clicking on the arrow at the far right of the address bar), nothing happens. No error message or anything. If I open a new tab and click on one of the tiles representative of visited pages previously, everything works as expected. Bookmarks work also. I tried to reset Firefox, nothing helps. The only remedy at this time is downgraded to 19.0.2 where everything works as expected.

  • Why are the buttons, tabs, address bar, etc acting sometimes glitch? (see details)

I can't explain the problem with the words really... See photos attached.

I'm using Firefox 4 for the major part of the beta and RC 1 now. This has been a recurring problem for me. This seems to happen randomly. It is virtually a daily show, although it occurs whenever I hear myself.

I can't pinpoint the problem to any add-ons. In fact I think I disabled all at one time and it happened again.

Sometimes when you use the address bar, sometimes when you use the drop down menu bookmarks or the Firefox button. Sometimes, the window of the whole browser it... but not as often.

Any ideas what could be wrong here?

If start you Firefox with the new profile (to be sure, follow the instructions in the last link above shortcut to a specific profile or launch Firefox from the command line, check out this link: command line arguments - sometimes I had to use -profile instead of Pei or it wouldn't work), you can try other things is to restart in safe mode ( Firefox button--> help--> restart with disabled modules) or maybe disable hardware acceleration (Options-> Advanced-> general-> uncheck use hardware acceleration when available)

  • Why Firefox suddenly empty - no address bars, research or tool uninstall/reinstall d/n is resolve - now only v 3.6 will work?

I've been using the latest version of FF and last week, the browser froze and when I restarted it was completely empty. I went through the help section, tried to uninstall manually by deleting files and reinstall several different versions, but the only one that will work at this point is 3.6.28. Your help sections and non-existent customer service SUCK - I don't have days/hours to mess with this and will completely abandon FF if adequate assistance is not received quickly.

Who did the trick - thanks! I think it's only something called Codec-C, identified by Mozilla as malware on 29/10/12.

  • Why is the address bar covered or hidden?

My address bar displays only solid color bars; I do not see a URL I type it. If G = Green, Y = B = black, and gray now, it looks like this: GAËLLE GIROT YYYYYYYYY BATH YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. I wish I could erase the old URL and start typing a new one with minimum keystrokes, but cannot figure out how.

I have a second question, while we are there. My Adobe Flash only is not good enough for Firefox, until I have "let him" once the prompt appears. I can't understand how (tried and failed several times) to acquire or download an update of Adobe Flash version that meets Firefox. How is that done?

The colors reflect the actual characters being replaced by solid rectangles, so for regular sites, the text is gray except for the area, who is black, and green is used for the name of the company that operates sites that have a certificate Extended Validation SSL. • Why my address bar has a series of icons (rather than the url) when I click on certain sites?

When I visit certain websites, instead of the URL for the site appearing in my address bar, I get this long string of weird looking for icons that extend all the way through to the address bar in the search bar. I have never seen this before until a few months ago. When I click the icon on the far left inside the address bar I get this message: "this website does not provide identity information.

Is it possible to get rid of these icons and have the site URL appears in the place?

    Hello

The leftmost button is the Site identity button. For more information about this, please see:

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the other icons disappear. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables certain parameters, disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

If these icons are still there on your address in safe mode bar, please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How to make a screenshot of my problem?

Once you have done so, attach the file to screen shot saved to your post on the forum by clicking on the button Browse... under the box to post your reply . This will help us to visualize the problem.

  • Text on the buttons labels have disappeared, and the legs went above the address bar. Why?

Last night, I've updated for Firefox 29.0.1. Now, I don't mind not change - and reworks - doesn't bother me but I HATE it when the options are removed. I want text labels on buttons (the ' Home' button, for example"). In the previous version of Firefox, you can click in the gray area at the top right and select "Customize". From there, you could drag and drop of what things you want to appear in your toolbar or not - and there is a check box for Select if you wanted the labels of text appears under them or not. Now as hard as I look, I can not find this option. So you're now forcing people to use ONLY icons. I hate this. My brain processes the word 'Home' much more quickly that it recognizes a bit the image of a House. You must understand that people act in different ways - and all simply because the developers of Firefox can not personally use text labels, which does not mean that person only!

What is the point in removing the option? Not at all. Please re - introduce the option. In the meantime, I'll be back to the previous version of Firefox.

In addition, I see that the tabs are now moved on top of the address bar. New - WHY? I love them below. Why do you feel the need to make changes - and then not giving people the ability to customize things how they like?

  • Can replace a Web site in the address bar in upper left, why not?

For Firefox, my default search is https://www.google.com. Which works very well. but now (in the last day or), in the address bar to upper left, if I try to insert another Web site instead of google (google 'cut' and insert by typing "espn" (for example), it can not connect. I can connect by typing in the google box, but I don't want to do that. What has changed to prohibit this? I tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox and also tried the miracle solution.

Hi jwsloway, I do not know why this problem would have been before, unless you have changed to use a plugin of research who have searched http Google to one using the https Google Protocol, or you can stay connected to your Google account (Google redirect), or you are using an add-on that force HTTPS on popular sites when they are available.

  • Why the address bar is glitched appears?

For some reason any today locking/globe icon which means that if a site is encrypted or not, seems to have space to his right off. The address bar also become entirely yellow all of a sudden for encrypted pages. The end close the menu button dropdown is also not yellow.

I tried to reset the FF and I saw that I have to do a bunch of settings to look and behave the way I want it so I went ahead and delete the old profile and replaced with old data, bringing the problem of the icon. I tried to uninstall and reinstall (without delete personal data) without success. I also tried to play with the toolbars, but it does not solve the problem either.

I was wondering why it happened suddenly and wonder what I can do about this besides rebooting.

Here's what it looks like: http://oi39.tinypic.com/2pquuc3.jpg

Maybe a theme or extension? You can see the following tabs:

    (1) orange button to Firefox (or tools) > Add-ons > appearance

    Select the default theme.

    (2) orange button to Firefox (or tools) > addons > Extensions

Disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions. If a link appears above a disabled extension to restart Firefox, click on the last step.

    Any difference?

It is a problem with my laptop with large screen of 1366px. And it was good until last year when I've upgraded to a new Firefox every night a few months ago, and this problem occurred.

And the cause of this problem is the address bar, if I removed it the icon has not disappeared (minimize)
Tried to change the width of the address bar, but nothing helped. What can I do else? Only this folder of bookmarks disappear, all other icons of stays...

Reset firefox it's a hilarious response. Please stop suggesting such a thing, when it's not neccessery. Since I have not had a response, deleted a few files and the localstore.rdf came out to be the problem, deleted icons and rearranged, again, now it works very well.

Your solution is dumb as hell, why the hell I start all process (with 30 extensions etc.) during the Setup and can be ended with the same bug?

  • Why I see a yellow exclamation point symbol in the address bar?

When visiting certain sites using Firefox Android, I get a yellow exclamation symbol in the left side of the address bar. For example in http://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_geolocation.asp
Why this is happening, there is no indication anywhere. Clicking on it does nothing.

    1. What does this symbol.
    2. the fact that I was able to get information on this topic (in the browser) makes this extremely hostile user and should be fixed.

None of these answers are correct. The favicon of error occurs occasionally in Firefox for Android. When the browser is offline or on a poor network connection, you will get a time-out error page.

We have a bug where the icon persists on reload. With a little time the favicon cache will expire and the favicon will be updated to the correct.

  • Why is that now, when I click on a link for a Web site I have saved, it does NOT show the URL in the address bar? I don't and then drag it to an email to share the link.

How is it that, in these new versions of Firefox (I have 21.0), when I opened a link that I recorded, it does NOT display the URL in the bar of addresses?

I can't drag and drop the link in an email, and I don't see the actual address that I'm connected to for reference OR for security reasons. Why is - this has changed?

It becomes necessary to reveal the properties of the URL link that I saved, by using the 'Properties' window, then copy and paste the URL in the address bar of Firefox, until I can do something with it.

I had the same problem. Looked at all the addons and extensions referred to in the conversation between philipp and dadmr. All extensions and plugins off and on again with each shot. Problem has been resolved by disabling app 1.0.85 Goodshop and RealDownloader 1.3.2.28. It may be that these versions were outdated, but were postponed during the upgrade from previous versions of Firefox. I hope this helps.
