  I saw that error and even if it says access denied it will actually save your changes.  After you disable all move forward and apply then restart and see if it kept the changes.  If it's not then I hope that you are able to borrow a disc it would in time look for resettlement.   The computer works fine in safe mode, I suggest you perform a clean boot in order to check whether a third-party program or service that runs in the background is the origin of the problem.

  See if, perhaps, the filters are disabled in the Gallery of filters.

  There should be an eye next to the filters that are active.

  Follow these steps:

  Check your hard drive for errors

  1. Click Start, click run, type cmd in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
  2. At the command prompt, type chkdsk/f and press ENTER.

     Note If you receive a message similar to the following

  The type of the file system is NTFS. Cannot lock the current drive.

  Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. You want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

  Press y and press ENTER, and then restart your computer.

  1. When Chkdsk is finished, close the command prompt.
