Why is my MacBook Pro cut wifi connection?

In recent weeks, my wifi connection has often declined, and I have to restart my MacBook Pro to have the wifi connection.

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch (end of 2011) and am running OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 version

I brought my computer to a Genius Bar, and someone had to watch. The guy helped me clean up my caches and adware which helped. It also helped me with existing Wifi preferences of trash again.

My computer worked fine after my visit to the Genius Bar and now almost a day later my wifi connection dropped again and I had to reboot my computer.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

Maybe corrupt network preferences.

Open the Finder. In the Finder menu bar, click go > go to folder

Type or copy paste the following text:

/ Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

Click OK, and then move all files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the trash.

Restart your Mac. See if that makes a difference.

Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

Hi, I recently "lost" my MacBook Pro because of water damage.  Fortunately, I've been using time Machine\Capsule and I have a MacBook Pro that is connected to the same network/device.  I need to restore a few files in the backup TM of the computer 'lost' on computer 'work '.  I was able to 'Browse' the other TM backup (click the icon TM plus the button 'Alt').  The Web browsing is extremely slow (took about an hour to break down / find the file on the network).  However, I tried to copy the file and I get errors of the alias.   Please advise me on what I am doing wrong.

  • MacBook Pro crashes when connecting to WiFi at home

    Hi all

    Short:

When I connect to some of my macbook pro WiFi networks freezes.  By freezing I mean all input devices stop working: no touchpad, no keyboard, no external mouse, no keyboard.  My laptop stops 30 seconds after the Frost is out of the reboot.  The problem is worse at home.  He will die almost instantly if I try to use my home network.  On the road, it can take an hour or two, then freeze!  At work, life seems almost endless, but it froze.  More details to follow.

    Symptoms:

    • When I connect everything first a loading bar is shown, sometimes it will freeze it and start/stop.
    • Shortly after I log in, before you do anything, but moving the mouse, it will freeze.
    • Sometimes I can not connect and it will work fine for a few minutes, until I use all that internet: firefox, safari, mail, any software that checks the license through the internet, then it freezes.
    • Other times, I can work on the internet without pain for hours.
    • Sometimes it will work very well, I will walk away and the machine goes to sleep.  When I wake up, it will freeze.  With and without the WiFi on.
    • Sometimes it will work very well, I'll close the lid for a certain period of time for 1 minute to 24 hours and sometimes when I open it it will freeze.
    • It crashed when booting in verbose mode.  Died when something with bluetooth.  I tried only once.
    • When in recovery mode (CMD + R), I can run the utility disc fine, but if I want to reinstall OS X, the minute, trying to download (after signing with my Apple ID) it will freeze.  It's the only way I've been able to reliable and predictable way to reproduce this problem, however, as on my home network.
    • There is never crash logs in the console.  I have never one "your machine should be stopped."  The only way that I know that there was a problem is that I will ask you to log in and when I do, none of my programs are still open.

    Where this happens:

    • On my work WiFi network, it's hardly a question.  Happened at least 5 times in the last year.
    • During a journey (so any number of networks and equipment) will occur once an hour.
    • At home, he can go months without a pass and then, as yesterday (24/04/16), occur continuously for hours on end.  (I have just let my laptop open and hear the chime start about once a minute).

    What I tried:

    • Reinstalled OS X.
    • Run diagnostics (CMD + D)
    • Reset the PRAM and SMC
    • Run recovery stuff (CMD + R)
    • Safe mode has the same problems; When internet is used, it freezes.
    • That thing where you delete all of your connections wifi, both in the Terminal and in the GUI.
    • Disable IPV6 on my Macbook Pro
    • The laptop is not hot.  Power supply or the battery power does not make a difference.

    Other stuff:

    • I have an old Macbook Pro (running Yosemite) who doesn't have these problems.  There is another Windows Mobile and apple and windows Phone which does not have these problems.
    • Using WiFi at home and Arris TG1682G me provided by Comcast/Xfinity.
    • My laptop froze all the time and then I went to another network (neighbor thank you!) and everything seems fine.

As my computer can still freeze on other networks I'll post this now and change it.  I don't want to lose that.

I can't find a button change.  Shortly after I posted this my macbook pro has frozen and restarted.  I was not on my wifi at home.

  • MacBook Pro slow after connecting

I can't explain it well enough, but let's try...

I connect to my username very well. But after the signing, I get the spinning ball. Logging in can take a few seconds, or as long a minute before the desktop appears. It is random when the system decides to catch up and to really start to work. Sometimes it will happen quick office and then I get the spinning ball.

    I checked / things:

    • Made new user account - same results
    • Bought the new show always the same hard - one SSD drive.
      • A new OS settled with new hard drive as well
    • Considered the start to each user account - there is no.
    • has started with disabled WiFi.

I think that's about it. Just curious if anyone has had similar problems. Basically, the time it takes to have a normal operation of the computer is considerably more time that it has been in the past. It's almost to the point of being unusable because it's so frustrating just to connect and wait.

  • MacBook Pro drops wireless connection...

    Hello!

My MacBook Pro is down constant wifi connection, sometimes hourly, sometimes every few seconds. It's very annoying and I have no idea what could be the problem... All I see is my MacBook has no assigned IP or auto-assignée IP. It is the only device in my house that has this problem, the rest works fine (several iOS and Android, Acer laptop, smart devices, storage attached to the network and so on...) I tried to use DHCP with a manual address static address as well (I put the Mac static IP in the routers settings using that). It helped for a few weeks, but it seems that the problem comes back. I tried to delete the wifi settings and restart the MacBook and the router... Reinstalling OS X also has not solved the problem. If you know or have any ideas what could help me I would really appreciate it.

    My equipment is:

Wi - Fi connection problems can be a bit difficult to diagnose because there are many things that can affect performance, but there are some tools available:

System Preferences > network > Wi - Fi > (help me) > (Diagnostics)

This will check once for gross problems. But it tends to find any when your Wi - Fi connection works and does not at all when you connect Wi - Fi has abandoned.

    --------

Hold down the Option key while you click on the wireless icon in the menu bar. This will display a number of important parameters on the performance of a Wi - Fi connection. a little, it will look like this:

What values show you for Mode PHY and channel?

What CISOS or the signal strength?

    What emission rates?

very important and how many other networks do you see listed?

    --------

Also note that there is an entry for the diagnosis wireless at the end of this menu. This isn't the same simple diagnosis of mind as in system preferences > network Panel. It can be called from this menu for a more complete look at your Wi - Fi configuration. Will be to report obvious problems, but once completed, you can also choose to leave the window open to control your connection.

If you do this and go about your business, any unusual event will cause a warning to appear.

    Hi CofLondon,

If you are unable to connect to your wireless network, use an ethernet cable to get on the internet for your immediate needs.  Then, restart the modem and the router and your MacBook Pro to re-establish the connection.  You should maybe check and re-enter the password for the network in the network settings of your Mac, even if it works fine on your iOS devices.

  • MACBOOK PRO 2015 WIFI UNPLUG SLEEP YOSEMITE EL CAPITAN HELP :/

Hello, I recently bought a new macbook pro 2015 13.3 inch edition last month and when I close the lid of the screen or put my laptop to sleep and wake up the display of my network settings says that my wifi is connected but webpages in safari and other features of the internet do not work and I need to activate the wifi and turn it back on and it works again. I tried absolutely everything already to try to solve the problem as reseting; Landau, MSC, deleting of plist files, remove and reset pefferred adding new location and reset service order, pure networks install of El Capitan 10.11 and upgrade 10.11.2 and even get my card replaced airport and macbook pro replaced shorty after. Until I replaced it, it ran from El Capitan. And now the replaced macbook pro is running Yosemite 10.10.5 and the problem is still there.

I found has temporarily solution which was to download nosleep Yosemite version extension program that disables the function sleep at all times, but eventually it will damage my screen. I would like to know if anyone finds a solution for this problem? My wifi works fine on all my other devices such as my: 2 pc, chrome book, iPad and iPhone. It gives just problems on my macbook pro only. Everyone knows about this problem? And did you find a good solution that I have not mentioned? also I have Time Warner Cable and I have a 2 in 1 router modem by model Arris DG1670A which has 2.4 and 5 G-banding and the problem occurs on both frequencies. I have also the 300/20 DL / plan UL which allows to connect more devices to the internet if that helps. IM thinking of buying an other internet router modem but I don't want to spend the money if its will not solve the problem and that this problem cannot be resolved it would be wise to return my macbook pro?

  • My Macbook Pro does'nt connect after update to 10.11.6

    Hi all.

After update from my Macbook Pro to 10.11.6 he starts, but after entering my password, then pressing enter shows the loading animation and it is.  I let him go lastnight believe he worked at something after the update, but this morning, nothing...

    An advise, please.

    Kind regards

    Fabio

Please take each of these steps that you have not already tried it. Some of them are not applicable to your model or your situation. Stop when the problem is resolved.

To restart a computer is not responding, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the unit turns off, then release, wait a few seconds and press again briefly.

    Step 1

The first step to respond to a startup failure is to secure data. If you want to keep the contents of the boot drive and you have not already at least a current backup, you should try to back up now, before we do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care the data changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.

There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to store backup data.

    a. starting the partition recovery or an hour Local Machine backup volume (button option key at startup). When the OS X Utilities appears, launch disk utility and follow the instructions in this article to support. You'll be 'restoration' the boot on the backup volume volume.

If you use 2 FileVault, you must first unlock the boot volume. Select its icon ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.) It will be nested under another icon of the disc. Select open in the file menu. When you are prompted, enter your login password.

    (b) If step 1 fails due to disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to save some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external hard drive with OS X installed, the start of it. Otherwise, if you have access to the Internet, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external hard drive and install OS X on it. You will use the installation program of recovery, rather than download it from the App Store.

    c. If you have access to a Mac, and it work and have both the non-working Mac FireWire ports or stroke, start the Mac non-working in target disk mode. Work Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique will not work with USB, Ethernet, Wi - Fi or Bluetooth.

    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is replaceable by the user, remove it and climb into a docking station that is pregnant or an external drive. Use another Mac to copy the data.

    Step 2

If you have booted from an external drive, make sure that the internal boot volume is selected in the pane of the system preferences Startup disk.

Start in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. If you do not see the words "Safe Boot" in the start screen, you did not start in safe mode. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, and some things don't work at all, including the networks without wire on some Macs.

The login screen is displayed even if you normally connect automatically. You must know the password for the connection to connect. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

If the startup progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or the system stops automatically when the progress bar appears, the boot volume is corrupted and the player is probably defective. In this case, go to step 9. If you have another problem with the player, replace it immediately.

If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the trash and then open the window of info on the boot volume ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.) Make sure you have at least 9 GB of space available, as shown in the window. If you do not, copy as many files as necessary on another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion is not complete until you empty the trash again. This, until the space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

If the boot process hangs again, the problem is probably caused by third-party software you have installed. Ask for additional instructions.

    Step 3

If the startup process stops at a gray screen together with a mobile cursor, then the logon dialog box may be active but not visible because of a bug. You may be able to connect by using the arrow keys or the cursor to select the password field and type your password as usual.

    Step 4

Case of failure of step 3, the boot volume can be complete. If you saw previously implemented guard space drive is low, it is certainly the case. You might be able to start in safe mode , even if you cannot boot normally. Otherwise, boot from an external hard drive, or well technology for step 1b, 1 c or 1 d allows to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to the documentation from Apple, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the boot (as shown in the Infolog) for normal operation volume.

    Step 5

If a Mac desktop (without the built-in keyboard) crashes on a gray screen together with a mobile cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Hold down the button on the side of a wireless Apple keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you use a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.

    Step 6

Sometimes, a startup failure can be solved by resetting the NVRAM.

    Step 7

If there is an integrated optical drive, a disk may be stuck in there. Follow these instructions to remove it.

    Step 8

Press and hold the power button until the unit turns off. Disconnect all devices wired except those needed to start and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use another keyboard and/or mouse, if these devices are wired. If you can start now, one of the devices that you disconnected, or a combination of both, the origin of the problem. Discover that it is a process of elimination.

    Step 9

Launch the utility disk in recovery mode (see step 1). Select the boot volume, and then run the repair disk. If problems are found, repeat until that clear. If disk utility reports that the volume is not repairable, the drive is defective and must be replaced. You can choose to tolerate such malfunction in the reader's life. In this case, delete the volume and restore it from a backup. If the same thing happens again, replace the drive immediately.

It is one of the rare situations where you must also run repair permissions, ignoring the erroneous warnings, that it can produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.

    Step 10

If the boot device is an aftermarket SSD, it may have an update and/or a forced "garbage collection". Instructions how to do this with a Crucial SSD of brand have been posted here. Some of these instructions may apply to other brands of SSDS, but you should check with the technical support of the provider.

    Step 11

Reinstall the OS. If the Mac has upgraded an earlier version of Mac OS X, you need the Apple ID and password used to upgrade.

    Step 12

Do as in step 11, but this time clear the disk utility boot volume before installing. The system should automatically restart in The Migration Wizard. Follow the prompts to transfer data from one Time Machine or another backup.

    Step 13

This step applies only to models that have a battery logic-board ("PRAM"): all of the Mac Pro, MacBook with a removable main battery and a few others (models not updated). A flat battery logic-board may cause a boot failure. In general the failure will be preceded by the loss of the system and boot disk clock settings. Refer to the user manual for replacement instructions. You may need to take the machine to a provider of services to have to replace the battery.

    Step 14

If you get this far, you probably deal a hardware failure. An appointment of 'Genius' to an Apple Store, or select another authorized service provider.

  • MacBook Pro freezes when connected to external speakers

    Hello

This happened to me twice in the last two weeks, both times in the same circumstances. I take my mac at the Apple Store tomorrow, but I found it worth to post the question here:

My Macbook Pro freezes when playing iTunes AND connected to an external audio system. Won't happen only when it is connected to the headphones or when you use the internal speakers. This does not happen immediately. It took about 10-20 minutes, and the specific song ends to play even if the computer is already frozen. I wonder what follows:

This could result in the latest version of iTunes (12.3.3.17)?

Or is there something funky going on with the material of my Mac?

FYI, I have a Macbook Pro, 256 GB early 2015 and I've just updated to the latest OS (El Capitan 10.11.4)

Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

Could be due to the failure / faulty USB hub or cables (USB or audio, regardless of your game to the top). Try to connect without a hub (if you are using one) and with different cables.

Given that the issue does not appear when you use a headset, I don't think it is related to iTunes.

  • Why is my macbook pro took so much space

Hello! I'm new to macbook pro, and now I started to realize that my mac has used a lot of space in just three days.

As you can see, Photos reached 1 GB and films reached 2.41 GB.

Although I have only two photos now in my Mac, 300 KB and 2 MB (I had imported the Photos App). I also, have one film, 900MB in size and also imported to iMovie for the project.

Then why my mac did take space(1GB) so for two (or four, including the imported) photos? In addition, my films are expected to only reach 1.8 - 2.0 GB only but I'm losing 400 MB here.

What can I do? and can someone explain this topic completely? is this normal?

Sorry because I'm really newb to this.

    Thanks in advance!
