Why is-stop Support of Windows XP if you want to use it as a Vintage operating system?

If Windows XP is the support in April 2014 stop how long after that will be wise to use the operating system if you can't find something wrong with it?

Frankly there is probably nothing I can tell you that will change your mind; It is made quite clear.  You seem not to be concerned about the lack of hardware support and software for Windows XP, apparently are you worried about the fact that the flaws in Windows XP other than security flaws will be patches is more or don't you seem to be interested that you are almost unable to do anything with your computer other than what he can do now because scalability is about right by the window for XP users at this point.

Microsoft must end for all things at any given time.  In their time, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows 2000 have been very popular.  All are now unsupported.  Windows XP has only a little more time limited support before throwing the list above.  I don't know there are many people who think that Office 95, Office 97, Office 2000, and Office XP are pretty cool too.  Yet once, is no longer supported; in the dustbin of the history of computing.

I am a user under windows vista license so can I use Windows xp?
    If so, how?
If not what do I have to use windows xp?

You must have a copy of Windows XP, which is no longer made or sold. If you can find one, you can buy it.
Then you have to reformat your computer and install it instead of vista, ensuring that your computer is capable of running, and the manufacturer of the computer has all the necessary drivers.

  • I would like to install Windows XP on my computer and get rid of the Vista operating system. Can I do this? I only have 512 MB of Ram and 32-bit processor.

I would like to install Windows XP on my computer and get rid of the Vista operating system.  Can I do this?  I only have 512 MB of Ram and 32-bit processor.

    Hello

There are a few things that you would have to do to install XP instead of Vista:

    1. contact the manufacturer of your computer and see if the XP drivers are available for your computer model to make sure that XP has worked properly in this regard.

    2. If the XP Drivers are available, buy a XP disk operating system / license. Try local computer repair shops because Microsoft sells more than XP and online sale buy you pirated copies can cause. Be very careful.

3 XP runs with 512 MB of RAM, although a little slow by today's standards.

    4. do a clean install of XP. Make sure that all your data is backed up as the hard will be cleaned of everything during the Installation of XP.

  • I have Windows Vista and you want to know, if I switch to Windows 7, will I lose my files, programs, settings and virus protection?

Currently I have Windows vista. I want to upgrade to windows 7. I would lose my files, programs, settings, and virus protection

    original title: upgrade

If you do an in place upgrade your files and programs will remain on the computer. If you perform a custom installation, you will need to back up your files and reinstall your programs.

    Installation - 'upgrade' means what?
Upgrade means that you can install Windows 7 simply by inserting the Windows 7 upgrade software in the DVD drive of your PC and follow the instructions on the screen. While you are not required to backup and reinstall your files, or reinstall your programs, it is a very good idea to back up your files and settings before you start any upgrade to the software. Get more information on the software updates and best practices .

Installation - what does "Custom (Clean)" Mean?
A custom (clean) installation clears the contents of the hard drive of your PC. Your files, settings, and programs will not be transferred to Windows 7. This means that to install Windows 7, you must:

    • Back up any files and settings you want to keep

    • Install Windows 7

    • Reinstall all your files

    • Reinstall all the programs you want to use.

These four steps take time, skills, techniques and Windows Easy Transfer can help. However, if you are not comfortable with this process, please consider having the installation carried out by a local service provider.

If you are running Windows Vista , in some cases you can proceed directly to Windows 7, and in other cases, you must perform a custom installation. The following table shows what editions of Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7.

    Windows Vista Home Basic

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Business

  • If I leave the IE8 on Windows XP Mode, but never use it, is there a way I can be hacked by him once Microsoft stops support for Windows XP?

Original title: Windows XP in virtual mode

I have Windows 7.1 with Windows XP in virtual mode so that I can use older products, not supported by 7.1.  In virtual XP mode, there is an Internet Explorer 8.  I understand that after Microsoft eliminates support for XP that can cause future security issues.  I run the latest version of Internet Explorer on my Windows 7.1.  If I leave the IE8 on the virtual XP mode but never use it, is there a way I can be hacked through it?  Should I remove the IE8 completely of the virtual Windows XP?

If you never use IE (any version), it cannot be 'hacked '.

If you wanted to be doubly secured, you can prevent accidental use by uninstalling...

    • Open the Control Panel - Add or remove programs
    • Remove IE8 (and IE7 if necessary) - click to highlight, then click on remove
    • Click Add/Remove Windows components
    • Uncheck the box Internet Explorer and click Next

    Hi Vmariedanielle,

    1. who is the edition of Windows that is installed on the computer?
    2. when exactly you get the error message?

There is no option to remove the Windows Media Player in Windows XP. First of all, we recommend to search for Media Player on XP.

Note: Windows XP Home Edition N and Windows XP Professional N editions do not have Windows Media Player. If you use one of these editions, you must download and install Windows Media Player.
See the Description of Windows XP Home Edition N and Windows XP Professional N

To download and install Windows Media Player, try the following steps:
    a. visit http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-media-player
    b. download Windows for your Windows Media Player and install it.

Note: You will be prompted to validate your windows before you download the program. Support for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) ended on July 13, 2010.

  • Windows media player - "you want to hide the drive.

    Hello

Can someone help me with something that leads me into the wall? Since I installed SP2 on my desktop and laptop, when I close WMP everything a video or track is playing, a dialog box appears on the screen asking me "Do you want to hide the drive instead to shut up?". There are two button (Yes & No.), and a checkbox to say '' do not ask that in the future".

More often than otherwise, this dialog box appears mainly outside the screen area, and I have to drag in the main window. But more annoying than anything else, is that no matter if I check the box "don't ask again", I'm ignored. Whenever I close the player with the closing this window 'X', I get the same dialog box.

It was not the case prior to SP2. I looked all over the internet by using the text of the dialog box to see if other users know this, and I can't find a thing. I am logged in as administrator (the only user on both machines). I am running Vista 32-bit, l i've got things like FFShow installed and the combined community codec pack. However, my brother also has it installed on his vista machine and did not see the dialog box.

Is there some sort of registry setting that is corrupt, is not being written because of UAC, or something (anything!) that I can put to stop this dialog once for all to come?

Much recognition for everyone and anyone who can help you.

Am I just that you said this happens on both machines? Must be something in common.
