Why MacBook 2006 restarts spontaneously?

Does anyone have an explanation for the spontaneous, apparently spontaneous reboots or how to prevent them?

My old 13 "Macbook (early 2006) spontaneously rebooted twice in one evening. The conditions were: he was not asleep but is not actively used (the first time I was on the phone and the second time I was out of the room).  Firefox and others turned, and since Firefox has been very slow lately and I had to force quit several times to keep it going, maybe Firefox is originally these spontaneous reboots.  The computer also sometimes spontaneously getting a grinding noise, usually on starting at the top, but sometimes out of nowhere.    Thank you!

The computer starts also sometimes spontaneously making a grinding noise

This is the most troubling part. This may indicate a problem with your hard drive. According to the OS you use, either start of your OEM installation DVD and choose disk utility > floppy disk repair, or start in your holding volume of recovery command, shift + r key and choose disk utility > first aid.

    Search before the journal entry that begins with BOOT_TIME since it is the first line of a startup

  • MacBook 2006 does not recognize the Canvio Stor.e

    Hello world!

    I bought this external HDD Stor.e Canvio (2 TB usb2/3),
    The problem is that it only appears not on the macbook in 2006 (2 GB ram 2 GHz c2d OSX 10.4) I bought it for.

    But:
    The HARD drive is perfectly recognized by my macbook pro.
    Other external hard drives are recognized by the macbook (2006), no problem here (even usb powered works of readers, the canvio has its own power plug). The canvio is formatted in Mac OS.

    Clearly, I do not understand the problem, it should work.
    And the 2006 is compatible if I read the news of the canvio box.

    No idea how to run is more than welcome.

    Thank you!

    PS: latest news, the canvio appeared on the 2006 once or twice, but I don't know what was 'different' these times.

    Hello

    First of all it s not the HARD problem because this HARD disk drive works fine in the other computer (Macbook).

    This HARD drive supports the USB 3.0 standard but it s compatible with the USB 2.0 standard.
    The point is that the USB 3.0 offers 900mA. The USB 2.0 port common supports only 500mA.

    I think the problem is the low power supplied by Macbook s USB port. In this case, you must use a USB Y cable in order to connect the HARD drive to 2 USB 2.0 ports.

    Not sure if it will really solve your problem, but I think that this should be verified

  • MacBook Pro restarts El Capitan Kernel panic

    My Macbook Pro restarts every now and then mid-2012. I installed an SSD Pro Samsung 850 and 8 GB of RAM. Everything worked fine with Yosemite. The last time it crashed, I was on the League of Legends listen to Spotify. It crashed several times without any hassles what so ever. Here the info section shown after the mac is restarted.

  • why no soft restart to phone i reboot

    why no reboot restart app for I phone? as blackberry had auto restart the application called reboot... seems reasonable to you phone will work sommth with secguled resets?

    If you need to force, restart your phone, press and hold the sleep/wake and home button until the Apple logo appears. It's better than an application because it will work even if the screen if not response. It's something that you need not do this unless you have a problem. -AJ

  • Why my MacBook Pro restarts itself?

    I got my MacBook Pro for nearly 6 years. MacBook Pro (15 in.) Mid 2010 model). I got a new hard drive installed a year ago, I still need a new battery, but I don't think that's the problem. It restarts itself much in the day. Sometimes it restarts itself a few minutes yet.

    That's what would give me the report:

    Can someone help me please? I wouldn't give up my MacBook Pro. I love it too.

    You have the MacBookPro6, 2 - the Edsel of Mac. There may be the failure of logic-board that was covered by a recall program that is now complete.

    The model was abandoned in February 2011. It is now classified by Apple as a "vintage product." This means that Apple will probably refuse to fix (see exceptions on the linked page.) In this case, you will need to go to an independent service provider. The part can be is no longer available, or the repair may not be profitable.

    Often, the problems start after an upgrade of the OS. If the upgrade has been recently, and you have backups, you can then go back to a previous version of OS X.

    Otherwise, an appointment of 'Genius' in an Apple Store, or switch to a different service provider authorized, to have the tested machine. The trial will be free to an Apple Store - unless Apple refuses to even look at the unit, as it could. Diagnoses of current equipment used by service providers don't detect the fault. There is a specific test for this number called "VST" (for "video system Test.") Ask for it. A "Failed" result means that the defect is present.

    If you decide to go to an independent service provider, be aware that the replacement part may also be faulty. Some owners reported that they went up to three replacement boards before you get one that worked. Don't expect any help from Apple if you have to pay several hundred dollars for an another bad logic board and that the supplier will be replace again.

    If you don't want to take that risk, or if you don't like the price you quoted, you may (or may not) be able to work around the problem by disabling automatic switching graphics. To use the separate graphics processor, you will need a third-party utility to manually switch to him.

  • Why should I restart Macbook 2015 for the control of USB 3 inch to go up?

    Type A USB seems to go well when connected via an adapter USB 3 port C. But using the same USB adapter C 3 if I connect a flash USB 3 drive I have to restart for the drive to mount.

    I called Apple Support and they told me how to solve this problem. He was supposed to have been fixed in OS X 10.11.4 but it did not in all cases. If you have a problem Support call.

  • Photoshop on Intel Macbook 2006

    Dear all

    I have Macbook Intel 2006 with Snow Leopard. I would like to use Photoshop on this Macbook but can't seem to get a version to download on this old machine. What version of Photoshop would work on this machine?

    Thank you

    veedeekay

    More CC of applications require Mavericks, 10.9.x to all the least is why it does not work under Snow Leopard. From the Adobe site:

    Mac OS X 10.6.8 or v10.7. Adobe Creative Suite 3, 4, 5, CS5.5, and CS6 applications are Mac OS X v10.8 or v10.9 supported when it is installed on Intel systems.

    For a complete list of requirements (RAM, disk space, etc.), see the next page.

    I think that Adobe is still selling CS6 disk or download. For all other versions, you will need to find someone selling the disc.

    As noted in the site, the operating system that is recommended for CS6 is 10.8 or newer. CS5.5 and more will run under Snow Leopard.

  • Why does predictive mode spontaneously to go out from time to time?

    Why settings - general - keyboard - predictive spontaneously turn off itself from time to time? I'll type a SMS or e-mail, and sometimes using the dictation feature, but sometimes the predictive mode disappears. Given the complexity and the hidden nature of the premises, is not something that you can meet by chance, so I can't understand why.

    Maybe there's another secret gesture or key combination which is the cause. If this is the case, we hope, there is another secret gesture I can learn to cancel his disappearance. It's a pain to go back and manually reset.

    Quick Type 101. Tap the word Centre and swipe down to HIDE. Swipe up from the long oval between the keyboard and the text box to the SHOW.

    Hope that helps.

  • MacBook Pro restarts

    I'm helping a friend with a 13 "Macbook Pro retina (end of 2012). His computer started rebooting randomly. He goes down and then restarts after a few minutes. She feels more often by watching the video (i.e., ESPN), but this isn't the only time when that happens.

    I have access to ASDS and tried to run the ASD appropriate on his computer. It's the same thing. After about 5 minutes the system go down, stay black and restart after a few minutes.

    I strongly suspect the memory problems, especially since it happened also when started from an external drive. As the RAM is welded to the map, this would mean that its logic board would need replacement.

    Here is the crash report I got after the reboot. Can someone interpret this? It confirms a RAM issue?

  • MacBook Air restarts all sleep/hibernation

    I have an early 2015 Macbook Air running Yosemite 10.10.5 with all updates.  In the last month, I noticed that when I'm back to using my Macbook Air after staying asleep/hibernation I see the login screen.  My Macbook Air has probably restarted on its own.  No error message.  When I look at my system log, I don't see a panic crash.  But I have a number of Macbook Air.crash log records but I'm not sure if they are related.  When I look at all the records show a crash of the process of galileod of all kinds.  Wire 0.  These are not related to the software.  Any ideas on how I can diagnose what is happening here?  Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi linsugr,

    Do you know when this started?  The simplest solution because I have no idea of what is happened to cause this is to restore the system to a point BEFORE this problem started (and give it a a few days to be sure).  If you use Windows 7, see:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html. If you are using Vista, see:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/. If you are using XP, see:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial56.html.  If the first attempt fails, try to go back a little further and see if you are met with success.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • XP Professional restarts spontaneously everytime then stop

    XP not stop, but that it recharges spontaneously immediately after his arrest.

    Hello

    • What were the changes made before the issue occur?
    • How long have you been faced with this problem?
    You can check this link:
    Windows XP restarts unexpectedly or restarts when you shut down the computer
  • Why then I restart the application immediately?

    After reading around, I feel that it is recommended to plan restarting the app for up to a minute later as follows:

    ApplicationDescriptor descr = ApplicationDescriptor.currentApplicationDescriptor();
    ApplicationDescriptor newDesc = new ApplicationDescriptor( descr,
        "My App Name",
        new String[] { "myArgument" },
        descr.getPosition(),
        descr.getNameResourceBundle(),
        descr.getNameResourceId(),
        ApplicationDescriptor.FLAG_AUTO_RESTART | ApplicationDescriptor.FLAG_SYSTEM
        );
    ApplicationManager appManager = ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager();
    appManager.scheduleApplication(newDesc,System.currentTimeMillis() + 60001, true);
    System.out.println("Application is exiting..." );
    System.exit(0);
    return;

    However, an immediate restart seems to work just fine, the following:

    ApplicationDescriptor descr = ApplicationDescriptor.currentApplicationDescriptor();
    ApplicationDescriptor newDesc = new ApplicationDescriptor( descr,
        "My App Name",
        new String[] { "myArgument" },
        descr.getPosition(),
        descr.getNameResourceBundle(),
        descr.getNameResourceId(),
        ApplicationDescriptor.FLAG_AUTO_RESTART | ApplicationDescriptor.FLAG_SYSTEM
        );
    ApplicationManager appManager = ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager();
    try
    {
        appManager.runApplication(newDesc);
        System.exit(0);
        return;
    }
    catch(ApplicationManagerException e)
    {
        // Handle situation when application cannot run
        System.out.println("Couldn't restart app: " + e.getMessage());
    }

    Can someone explain why I should do it the first way instead please? I really don't want a delay if I can help it.

    Reviewing logs of my release, I also wonder why the application scheduled (with delay ms 60001) often seems to run within 30 seconds after the restart. I run on a simulator of 9930 at present.

    Thank you very much.

    Think that if you were just amgr.launchApplication, if executed somehow before the end of the app was fully, he could just go back to the app in the foreground, and it ends then cancel.  So it would not launch.

    but you can try it

    An alternative is to include another point of entry for the same app module, which, directly by hand, simply appmgr.launchApplication what you're trying to restart.  Then you put one launchApplication for this other point of entry where you currently have the scheduleApplication, and it could act as a relay, ensure that enough that delaying the application probably will restart immediately after that he finished closing.

    that is to say:

    project 1: CoffeeMaker.jdp regular app, no arguments module name: company_CoffeeMaker

    project 2: CoffeeMakerReset.jdp alternate entry point to CoffeeMaker module name: company_CoffeeMaker argument: Starter check "System App"

    class CoffeeMaker {  public static CoffeeMaker app;

      public static void main(String args[]) {    if ((args.length > 0) && args[0].equals("Starter")) {      ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager().launchApplication("company_CoffeeMaker");      }    else {      app = new CoffeeMaker();      try {        app.enterEventDispatcher();        } catch (Exception e) {        ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager().launchApplication("company_CoffeeMaker?Starter");        }      }    }

     }

    Personally, I use scheduleApplication with a 10 second delay.
