Control Panel - Device Manager - hard disk - drive SD card or similar - double click - tab driver-

  • Computer can not read my CD

I can open and read on a computer with Windows XP CD but cannot open and read on my computer with Windows Vista Home Premium.  I ran the Microsoft Diagnostics on my computer for this problem, but it was not resolved.  The CD contains MRI and CT images.  The instructions with the CD to view the photos are at "Double Click on the CD Drive Icon: DVD - RAM Drive (D :)". ». My drive icon is different: drive DVD - RW (e :)).

You are unable to read or open up a WHOLE CD on this computer or is - this just this a CD?  Do you get any error messages when you try?  Insert the CD and go to Windows Explorer, right click on the CD drive icon and click on Exlpore.  Can view you the contents of the CD like this?  Is there a file setup or install listed - if so, try a double click on it to see what happens.  It is another .exe file - try double-clicking that to see if it is active the program which shows the images.  If not, can you on o separate image and see if it opens (this is not possible anyway if the images are tied to the look a software on CD).  CD show upward in Windows Explorer or it indicates there is no CD inserted?  Have you tried cleaning slightly CD with a soft cloth running from the center toward the edge to remove any fingerprnts or tasks that may interfere with work properly - if not, please do so.

  • Computer to read DVD - one message says that I can not read the DVD, except that I have installed a new driver.

I have a new Toshiba C650 laptop, and he says that I can not read the dvd on it except that I have installed a new driver. Is this true?

    Hi Bill,

To be honest, this sounds ridiculous but if you get a message, I suppose it could be possible even if I find it incredible.  Do you have it in a (local or online) retail store or Toshiba?  By any chance did you upgrade from the DVD player when buying (where they may have accidentally neglected to update the drivers of the drive that was originally installed)?

As it is new, Toshiba should help you with this.  Here's the contact page: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/navShell.jsp?cf=su_contact&pf=true.  Give them everything they need to prove that buy you it and it should be under warranty and then give them the message Word for Word, that you have found.  They should be able to help you.  They can, for some reason I don't know, you don't need to help or guide you through a new driver installation.  I ask for a clear explanation of why this is necessary on a new computer and, if you are not satisfied with the response, ask them to consider that all the faulty computer and replace it.  Even if they won't, he needs the get them less motivated to solve your problem.

    I hope this helps.

  • I have a computer running VISTA. The CD-ROM/DVD-rom does not work and can not read the CD of the program that I placed in it.

It won't read a DVD.  It will not read ANY CD or DVD.  I tried 12 different CD/DVD.  This isn't an upgrade to Vista; the computer came "made for Vista" with Vista installed on it.  I had added Nero.  I removed Nero.  I did all the updates. I have not released the driver and reinstalled.  He claims to have the latest driver software, but it won't work.  The computer can see the CD/DVD, but he calls it a 'CDROM '.  It is not the case.  It is a DVD/Cd-RW with Labelflash.

I did everything suggested that past discussions.  I ran FIXIT program that claims that the drive works properly.  It is not the case.

I tried to get various programs to recognize.  They cannot see the installed media.

    I uninstalled iTunes.

Please do not give me the answer of cut-and - paste stock; It does not work.

Please tell me what to do to make Vista see the media inserted in the CD/DVD-RW drive.

    Thank you.

    ------------------------------------------------

Then go to right click on UNINSTALL - - CD/DVD - Device Manager CHECK THE DRIVERS to REMOVE and
    continue.

    Reset.

Occasionally, install an upgrade or a re - install will fix the problem and of course the drive or other hardware issues
    could be at stake.

    =====================================

Here's the answer, just in case there is something you don't have, and I start up and down.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable
or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
