All the icons and even folders do not work when I click on them. If I right click on the icon or the folder it open quickly as before.
Is there an associated process that should run to facilitate icons to work?
Hi DelZavala,
There are several things to try, and I recommend doing them in the order presented.
If you can access the internet somehow, if you use XP, go to http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm and scroll to the EXE and click, or double-click it to run the program to restore EXE file associations. Once done, do the same for LNK entry. That should restore your programs.
If it does not (although it does in general), try the following article (which is essentially what precedes, but made by hand): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923077.
Try a clean boot in XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316434. If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem. Follow the procedures described in the article. Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall. Once don't forget to reset your system back to the normal state, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.
If this problem started recently, try a system restore to a point before the problem. Here are the steps for XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084.
I hope this helps. Otherwise, back post and we will look at in other less likely but possible options such as infection or corruption of system files - but I honestly think one of the above will do the trick for you.
Good luck!

You have a laptop. So try the right button on your touchpad. It work?
If so, the only remaining possibilities are:
1. bad mouse. Get a new one.
2. defective UBS port. Plug the mouse into a different port. See if the right click of the mouse works this time.P.S. We do give advice to users via e-mail. All responses must be published and remained in this forum so that others with the same problem will use the answer.

Assuming that you are referring to the HP Solution Center software, uninstall KB31323372 from the control panel > programs and features > view installed updates.
Then, hide it using the following steps to prevent it from reinstalling:

Why B * TREE index does not work when ask explicit type conversion.
What is the job of back-end of B * column indexed with numeric type data when to perform explicit Conversion in the WHERE clause of number of Char.
Basically my question is why index does not work when applying both sides TO_CHAR conversion in where clause?
Let's say we have a table with 1 million rows
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Create Table T (collar number);
-The unique index on the column.
CREATE A UNIQUE IDX_T ON T (CSA COL) INDEX.
-Insert the statement on the table with million lines
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Begin
For I In 1.1000000 loop
Insert Into Values T (I);
End loop;
COMMIT;
End;
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have different situations using
explain plan for select col from t where col =?;
SELECT * FROM TABLE (DBMS_XPLAN. DISPLAY);
Case 1. Where COL = 50555;
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
| ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 1. 13. 0 (0) | 00:00:01 |
1. INDEX UNIQUE SCAN | IDX_T | 1. 13. 0 (0) | 00:00:01 |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):
---------------------------------------------------
1 - access ("COL" = 50555)
Case 2. Where COL = '50555';
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
| ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 1. 13. 0 (0) | 00:00:01 |
1. INDEX UNIQUE SCAN | IDX_T | 1. 13. 0 (0) | 00:00:01 |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):
---------------------------------------------------
1 - access ("COL" = 50555)
Case 3. Where TO_CHAR (COL) = 50555;
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
| ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 1. 13. 470 (6) | 00:00:06 |
1. TABLE ACCESS FULL | T | 1. 13. 470 (6) | 00:00:06 |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):
---------------------------------------------------
1 - filter (TO_NUMBER (TO_CHAR ("COL")) = 50555)
Case 4. Where TO_CHAR (COL) = '50555';
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
| ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 1. 13. 463 (5) | 00:00:06 |
1. TABLE ACCESS FULL | T | 1. 13. 463 (5) | 00:00:06 |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):
---------------------------------------------------
1 - filter (TO_CHAR ("COL") = '50555')
Why the access descriptor became predicate to filter in case 3 and 4?
Please, help me understand.
ACCESS (Index Scan) - Oracle tries to use an index one try to access a table row that they are interested.
FILTER (full table scan) - Oracle has no any tool to directly get to the table of ranks it is interested in, so it must pass all the lines and then filter the rows that match the main condition.

Every time after I get a Firefox Nightly update and run it, it will display the next page:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/firstrun/?oldversion=30.0 which is fine.
But when it opens this page, all my desktop icons go clear/white and one by one, they all return with their correct icons. And all this happens in a few seconds.
Why is the operation of Firefox every night for the first time, my desktop icons?I suspect that you have both nightly and Firefox version installed?
"The Firefox 'about' shows 30.0. and I've now checked for updates and are now running 33.1.1"
It's different from what you have first published here with!
Firefox 33.1.1 represents the latest version - a 32-bit version.Whereas, the version you first posted here with was a generation of 64-bit channel every night from July. Every night is for "Alpha-testers" and is updated every day, where the name of "night".
Everything that happens in the background on the Windows desktop should not be of concern right now, every night Win 64 bit is several months out.
If you really want to test the Win 64 Nightly builds, follow and participate in the very different evenings and son of 'channels' on MozillaZine forum is based. -
Several desktop icons do not work on XP

Windows 7 desktop icons will not work by clicking double to left
HP laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).
Double left clicking on items on the desktop does not work. To open the program I have to right click the icon, then click 'OPEN' in the menu dropdown.
Double left clicking on works on the status bar at the bottom of the screen.
Probably a switch has been triggered - but where?

Why the Amazon icon will not appear when you create a shortcut
When I create a shortcut to a Web site; instead of the web logo, I get the blue standard & green "globe".
How can I correct this (windows 7)?
Thank you
Clyde
Hello
You are welcome.
Shortcuts to sites will initially their own custom icon when you create a shortcut. This icon is called a "favicon.ico" and is stored in the temporary Internet files (TIF) cache, which is where all website files, are stored when you visit them.
When the user performs a maintenance and removes the TIF cache, all these custom icons are removed with everything else. This will cause the icon of Internet Explorer by default to display on these shortcuts. This also occurs when the maximum allowed disk space has been exceeded and that the files are deleted automatically to maintain the use of disk space.
