  Hi Polly.

  You may have a problem with an extension or plugin that obstructs normal behavior of your Firefox. Have you tried to disable all add-ons (just to see) to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

  In all cases, prove a screenshot would be useful.

  If it's only on Hotmail, hold down the CTRL key while you press the '+' a number of times. CTRL + the '-' (minus button) to reduce the size again.

  I take some college courses online and when I go to the website of Blackboard, the lettering is super small.   You can adjust the font size on any site in combinations ctrl - (control and 'negative') and ctrl - + (control and 'more', or ctrl - =, control and "equal to"). Control and mouse wheel works too high/low. In addition, you can reset the default font size by pressing ctrl - 0 (control and "zero").

  It would have been better if you had specified the browser and version you are using, but essentially, printing web pages is a hit or miss affair.  Many web pages are optimized for viewing on a monitor - not for printing.  This is why you will sometimes see a 'Printable Version' button, or the button "click to print" or similar.

  There are different things, that you can use to work around this problem, but the easiest is to simply copy the text you are interested (drag-n-click, right click, copy) and then paste into a Word document, where you can adjust the font size.  See, for example,
