Hello! I have a problem with windows live movie maker. • Message "Windows movie maker has stopped working".

    Original title: Windows Movie Maker

When you use Windows Movie Maker - the application generates the error message "Windows movie maker has stopped working" and close.  What happened several times.  What can I do to prevent this?  I use Windows 7 and Movie Maker 2011.

Not sure, but have you tried to reinstall WLMM, or perhaps fix?

See - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938275/en-gb and try the repair option first.

Also, make sure that your graphics card and your PC sound card drivers are up to date. Go to the manufacturers technical support for your PC brand and model site and see if there are newer drivers supported. If there is, and the repair does not help, try them. Make a restore point on your PC first, and if you like you should be able to "roll back" to your existing installation if you need to.

You can also try a SFC/scannow to see if that detects and repairs problems of any OS if the above does not help.

    Hey Elaine,.

I suggest that you put your computer in a clean boot state and check if there is another program that is causing the Windows Movie Maker to freeze.

Note: Once the diagnosis has been made, put the computer in normal condition by following the steps in "steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state."

If there is no specific program that causes this problem, then please uncheck the program since the start of the System Configuration utility.

Also, check the event logs viewer for any errors of follow-up when the Windows Movie Maker crashes.

  • Windows Movie Maker project disappeared, need help!

I was recently working on the 3rd video of the year for my daughter using Windows Movie Maker. I worked on it for a few months now. I save every 10 minutes or more. I was almost finished and clicked on save, and I got a popup that I was 'Out of Memory' that happens from time to time. Then I tried to save it under a different name, and then I got a new popup that says "unknown error." I decided to close Windows Movie Maker, and then restart the computer. I then noticed that the icon/file for my project was no longer visible. I checked the trash and he wasn't there. I did many searches for it on my computer with the file name and the file extension, nothing and also restored my computer to a few days earlier and the project file does not re - appeared. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you...

Director of windows has an update that is compatible with MP4 video formats?

You posted in a forum of Win XP, so I guess
    you run Movie Maker 2.1.

Several formats are apparently compatible with
Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:

    Audio - wav, wma, wmv

Best bet for your MP4 files would be to convert

So far WMM worked without fault, as full support has been removed for XP I am now unable to get all the patches. There is also no file conversion to allow to allow the import of files. Times, error message "class not registered"?
What I'd really like is a copy of WMM version 5.1 (Build 2600 xpsp_sp3_gdr.101209 - 1647: Service Pack 3) Windows Movie Maker Version 2.1. 4028 0, I would continue with WMM, but am completely reluctant to upgrade to Windows 7. Someone at - he found a solution for the problem that I am facing.

If you can open Movie Maker... try to go to... Tools / Options /.
Compatibility on the left tab, click on the "all default settings"
