Why my PC does not recognize HD external & is why HP_Recovery (D :) when folder content is only 1.7 MB?

I have a desktop HP 64 bit PC which had a serious virus problem. My son has restored its system which was to empty his hard drive and lose all the programs stored on it.

The first time that I turned it back on this past a lot of time download and install updates. Earlier I turned it then turn it on again; once more the machine has passed a long time (more than an hour & half) download and installation of updates. While he was off, I plugged the external hard drive I had stored all my files to transfer them to its internal drive.

After I turned the PC back and waited until these updates have been installed, I opened "Computer" in the start menu. The external drive seemed not - only the following:

Hard drives (2)

-OS(C:)-785 GB libre de 919 Go)

-(D) - 0.99 free HP_RECOVERY of 12,06 GB

Devices with removable storage (3)

-DVD RW (e :)) Player

-CD drive (f :)) WD SmartWare)

0 bytes free 442 MB / UDF

-[hp logo] CD (k) HP Smart Install player
0 bytes free 16.0 MB / UDF

"WD SmartWare" refers to the external hard drive, but the drive itself does not appear;

IN ADDITION,.

Although HP_RECOVERY (D :) appears to be complete (12 busy Go, less than 1 GB free), its content - "Quick Installation Guide" and "Valorisation" files - contain less than 2 MB total content.)

AND ALSO:

As I mentioned above, whenever I stop the machine it takes a long time to install updates and configuration as long when I power the machine back up (2 times so far). If this happen over and over again? (I'm about to turn off the machine again, and once more, he wants to install updates before you turn it off).

Any help/advice/suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thank you very much!

-Joe

The HP recovery disk has a large Image of Windows which is hidden and cannot be displayed by the browser. In fact, you should never do anything with the recovery disc, any attempt to write a file could make inoperable recovery.

Attached disk open with the USB Manager and check to see if the drive is listed in the lower pane. The left box can identify as an outsider who will need to import until it is visible in the Explorer.

If the port is USB 3, it may need drivers load before a drive connected is displayed. After that a reconstruction, there will be a large number of updates to install, and they must be installed in phases is not uncommon to find updates are applied to a number of reboots. You can check the update history to see if specific updates fail, manually run the update to see the history option.

    Hello
I m not very well how to help you.

I found some information about this WEIRD disc and it seems that he didn't need an external power supply. Its USB bus powered so I guess around 500mA power since it is the default value provided by a USB 2.0 port.

I don t think that there is a problem of missing software. It is a plug n play device so you need to connect it to the USB port and the system should automatically recognise.

From my point of view of the few you try to connect the external USB ODD two ports to aid a * Y * Cableusb.
I think the reader needs more power provided by a single USB port.

  • Satellite L750 does not recognize an external microphone

My laptop does not recognize any external audio input device plugged into the mic port.

I have a Satellite L750 running Windows 7 with the Conexant HD Audio Smart.

I want to record using external mixer. I am connect the output of the bureau in the 3.5 mm microphone port, but it seems that it is still just using the internal mic.

When I go into the sound properties, under the recording tab, it is only the internal mic. There is no option for an external mic.

I tried updating the driver for sound card, remove the card driver sound and re - install, check all the properties under sound properties, but there is no option for the external microphone.

I tried Googling the problem but nobody seems to have a viable solution.

Please can someone help me get the laptop to recognize an external mic.

    > I want to record using external mixer. I am connect the output of the bureau in the 3.5 mm microphone port, but it seems that it is still just using the internal microphone

Start a test: take an external microphone, connect it to the laptop and use a Windows 7 Audio Recorder utility (can be found in all programs-> Accessories) to record an audio sample.

    Is this possible?

I think that the microphone that appears in the control-> audio-> recording tab panel is the external microphone jack.
You can also click right in the recording tab and must mark the options: show disconnected devices and devices to see the disabled.

  • Backup Win XP does not recognize my external hard drive

Windows XP Backup Wizard does not recognize my external hard drive and does not list it as an option for storing backups.  I suspect a registry problem because the backup wizard previously recognized this drive and saved on it several times before I was running ARO 2012 for cleaning the registry errors.  I can always open the player in windows Explorer and see the files it contains, but Explorer Windows XP now lists the drive as an "expansion disc" instead of a 'removable disk '.  When I right click in windows Explorer and open 'properties' for this drive, it shows it as a 'local disk' instead of a 'removable disk '.  The drive is ok when I click the button 'Remove hardware safely', and it reports "safe to remove hardware" after I click on "USB storage device - Drive (J :). ».  Help!

Who did.  Thank you!  Now... I used Aero2012 to clean up the errors in my registry that's because my computer is desperately slow, especially when you start (8-10 minutes) and also with internet explore (move cursor to previous typos when you compose a new e-mail message).  Is there a safe way for me to speed up my computer?

  • Windows Vista does not recognize my external hard drive, Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK

I have an HP Presario laptop running Windows Vista and it does not recognize my external hard drive, or my flash drives.

I have an external hard drive Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK.  It worked fine on my desktop, which works on XP.  I plug it to my computer laptop and nothing.

When I plugged it in the first place, he says that he needed to download the drivers.  I clicked 'ok' to automatically download drivers and a few seconds later, he said that it successfully completed the driver download/install.

I look under the drives in my computer and he's not here.

I went to start, right click computer, left you click on Manage and double-clique then under storage disk management.  All I see are C drive and recovery disc (D).  No other drives displayed.

I exitted who and set up the Control Panel, double click on Device Manager.  He said in the other topic peripheral USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge.  I don't know whether or not it is my external hard drive.  It indicates the Type of device: Other Devices and under device status it says: "the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).  This operation requires an interactive window station.  To reinstall the drivers for this device, click on reinstall the driver. »

He asks if I want to reinstall the drivers, so I clicked that.  He couldn't find them / install them.

Still, I don't know if USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge is still linked to my external hard drive.

Help, please.  The same thing happens when I try to plug a flash/USB.

    Try this:

In the right click 'USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge' Device Manager under the other devices section, click unsintall or press the delete key. Reset with the connected hard drive it must be reinstalled, but under the USB controllers. Make sure the device works on the other computer cable can also go to bad.b

  • My HDR-PJ10 does not recognize my external hard drive 1 TB

I bought a 1 TB external hard drive to download my videos to my new Camcorder HDR-PJ10, but it does not recognize when it is connected. It is formatted in FAT32, suggestions?

You connect the camera to the hard drive or you connect the drive to a computer, the drive is not intended to be connected to the camera, but to a computer, and Yes you must reformat the hard disk using NTFS not FAT32.
