  Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand you are trying to join the instant ink program, but need assistance in obtaining your printers code request. I would like to help.

  In order to get the printers claim code, you will need to have the printer on a wireless network. An ethernet or LAN connection will also work. This will give the internet access to the printer so that the ink levels can be monitored.

  You need not remove your USB connection for the printer on the wireless network.

  The following link will help put your Officejet Pro 8600 on the wireless network.

  Once the printer on the network, tap the icon of ePrint/Web Services to enable Web Services and acquire the printers claim code. The icon you are looking for is in the lower left corner of the screen printers.

  Hi there... we have a different router, but I had exactly the thing happens to me when my husband bought his new computer. After hours of technical support that gave no results of our router manufacturer, I did some research on the web, a vast and I think I found the solution.

  Go to control panel > system and security > system > Device Manager > network adapters > find your network card (mine says in time real PCIe GBE) open cela, go to power management and uncheck the BOX allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

  After that I did that my router is no longer turns off/goes to sleep when my computer is. Offshore.

  Give that a try, and if all goes well, it will help you too.

  Thank you!!  I had already tried some suggested solutions by the spent with not luck... tried the suggestion to turn off protected mode in the options of internet security... did it and I am now able to print from two internet sites that I was unable to print from and hope for successful even when I need to print boarding pass on the Air Canada website.  Thank you, thank you thank you!  It is a very good site.  Definitely will use it again when and if a problem occurs.
