Why my recovery disk creation program cancels after 50% of creating files

I'm doing a recovery disc for my Compaq laptop. It has Vista OS.  I use the recovery disc creation program.  The program starts and shows that it is creating files.  When the indicator progress says 50%, the program seems to stop, and after a few minutes, I get a message say that the process is canceled.  What can I do to create a recovery disk?

Hello

This recovery process belongs to HP Compaq, not Microsoft.

They are the ones to ask about problems when you attempt to make the recovery of the disks.

http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/contact-HP/contact.html

Or you could ask in their Forums:

http://h30434.www3.HP.com/

Here is the HP Compaq information on how to make recovery disks:

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?DocName=c00809678&LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&product=18703#WhenCreate

Create a set of recovery disks operating system

HP Recovery Manager to create a personal set of recovery disks. When you select the recovery disc creation process, the HP Recovery Manager examines the PC and determines how many virgins DVD discs will be necessary. According to the model, you will need up to ten or more CD - R or CD-R, or up to three discs DVD-R or DVD + R. The creation process can take up to an hour or more. Do not interrupt the process of creation.
CAUTION: disks must be CD - R, DVD - R or DVD + r using No CD-R/W or DVD - R/W drives read/write because the creation process will fail.

Create a set of recovery disks operating system by following the steps below.
  1. Click Start and enter the recovery in the field of research. Select Recovery Manager in the list to open the HP Recovery Manager window. Allow the action to proceed, if you are prompted.
Alternatively, click Start , all programs , Recovery Manager , and then Recovery Manager . Allow the action to proceed, if you are prompted.
  2. Click Advanced options , the creation of recovery disks , and then click Next .
The program appears to pause for about ten minutes while it examines the computer and calculates how many DVD-R or DVD + R discs are required.
  3. When you are prompted, put a blank disc in the optical disc drive and follow the on-screen instructions to create the recovery disks.
NOTE: If a disc is inserted before the disc insert prompt is displayed, and the Recovery Manager does not recognize the new disk, press OK to clear the error message, then eject and reinsert the blank disc. In case this happens, without loss of data occurs, or damage the computer. It just "stops" the process of recovery that the Recovery Manager to identify the blank disc.

After all, the recovery disks are created, label the disks and store them in a safe place. If the recovery disks fail when creating or damaged, you can order replacement of HP recovery disks.

See you soon.

  • Why 5 recovery disks, when I used only 1?

Ok. I had a software problem. I have ordered from HP recovery disks. No problem.

I get 4 discs labeled 1-4 and an additional drive.

I load the first disk, wait until he asks for 2, 3 and 4, etc.. Never happens. After the first drive, he did his thing and it seems good. Facing up and running.

So why have 5 discs total when it held only 1? I expect almost the other shoe to drop or something, because I never loaded the other disks! What Miss me?

Maybe it's because you have a recovery partition intact on the drive from which some files were used. If you had installed a new hard drive he would have probably asked each of them.

  • Re recovery disk - install the OS after upgrade HD

I bought my HP a little more than a year, and the hard drive just died. Of course, the HP warranty was only good for a year, even if the warranty of the manufacturer for this HD model, when purchased separately, is three years. It would be nice if HP has extended the term of warranty even for components which he uses as the manufacturers of these components, but I digress.

So my only choice was to buy a new HD. I decided to update as long that I had to reinstall the OS anyway, but when I tried to reinstall the operating system using the recovery discs, I received a message that the installation could not proceed because the size of HD did not match what my computer was built with.

It has to be a way around it. If it does not exist, it is a horrible feature that prevents people from upgrading their systems, or recover their systems in the event of a failure of the HD. If there is no work-around, then my only option is to purchase a retail version of Windows 7 and other software that came with my computer. It's probably $300 in the software, as well as the replacement of HD $200. Ouch. If this is the case, and I knew about this beforehand, I would have never bought a HP.

    Thanks for any info.

Hello _glitch_, I understand your frustration with the whole restore HP Recovery disk.

There may be an option to work around this problem, but it would need to buy another HDD 640 GB that you were originally in the HP system, but continue to use your new OCZ Vertex 2 SSD 120 GB drive.

Here a link to the OCZ Forum where information to make a disc image of Windows 7.

Here a link to NewEgg where the 640 GB Western Digital HDD (WD6400AAKS) can be found. (Note the comments)

You can buy this new hard drive and install it. Then use your restore HP Recovery disk set to recover your operating system and applications.

This should put your system back as it was when shipped. After having updated your system software and all personal preferences, you could then make an image of the WD hard drive and save this image on another hard drive, or you can create another partition on the WD hard drive to store the image C: on.

If you choose this approach, you must leave the installed WD hard drive and install the new OCZ Vertex 2 SSD 120 GB so the picture C: drive is accessible from the new partition hard disk WD.

You then couuld use the Bootdisk you did in the process of hard disk image, to Prime the system for, and then select the source where the image of the original hard drive has been kept on the new partition on the WD hard drive, and use that image for installation on the new OCZ Vertex 2 SSD 120 GB drive.

The new WD hard drive could be used as a backup hard drive, so you lose no money, having to buy the new WD hard drive.

I know that all this is a bit extreme, but just an option to recover your operating system and applications and be able to use your new OCZ Vertex 2 SSD 120 GB drive and gain a new WD drive for backup purposes.

I have the impression is the reason why HP does not allow these restore disc HP Recovery be used on a hard drive of different ability, to prevent users from making copies of the software on a different drive system hard.

    Just some thoughts.

  • The media recovery disk creation

I failed to create a recovery disc for my new HP PC 700-327c.  The training video shows that under "All programs" the Recovery Manager or HP Support Tools & has a link with the media recovery process.  None appear in all programs.

How can I create recovery discs or a USB Flash for this PC drive...

I am happy that they will send you recovery disks.

Only 2 reasons why this can happen are:

    A. a person has already made or attempted to create the recovery disks

    B. some virus or program contaminated recovery partition functions.  This is the most likely cause.

  • HP Recovery Disc creation program

    Hello

Re: Pavilion P6516f-b Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Recently, when prompted, I started the process of a recovery of three-disc set. a 1 went smoothly. 2nd drive in and immediately pop up says impossible to use the drive, insert a new one, I did. But, then for the HP Recovery software me the notified in a pop up that discs 1 & 2 have been created successfully and move on to disk 3. Disc 2 has NOT been created. If this process of creation of recovery disks can be made once and only once, how do I get the HP software to create the second disc? I did not continue to drive three because of this concern.

I've slogged in hundreds of patch download lists and, frankly, am not knowledgeable enough to choose something that could be the answer.

Thank you, in advance, for ANY info.

  • Why the recovery disks do not work?

    Hi friends:

My laptop is HP HDX18. He has broken several days so I had to send it to a repair station. I took my laptop station repair for a week. Engineers told me that some material had been changed, such as motherboard, LCD display, but also outer shell. I checked it and it worked fine.

Before my phone was broken, I did a system recovery discs and they worked well.

Now I want to restore the system to the initial setting at the factory by the recovery diskettes, BUT! It alert with the words ' this product does not support system recovery!

Could you please tell me why not recovery discs work? and how to fix this?

the devices that were replaced are:

    audio device

    graphics chip

    Chipset

You can go back to that of the repair station and ask for drivers, they must provide you with the pilots because they are the only one who knows what motherboard has been installed.

your recovery discs no longer work while you do a clean install of your operating system.

I had this same problem with Windows 7 back last year in 2013 and HP sent me a link using a utility from Cyberlink for help for help reinstalling the recovery disc. Unfortunately this does not work on Windows 8, I've tried several times.  I contacted HP and all what they want to do is send me more on the recovery disk but I've already paid for those I had bought ($18.00) and I think it's a waste of time. If HP knows this error is then why not to issue a fix with it when they send recovery disk or who ever made these discs? Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hello:

I have a possible workaround for you to install a simplified version of the x 64 OEM W8.

Upload this W8 OEM ISO file from the link below.  It should work with the W8 product key embedded in the BIOS of your PC.

    https://docs.Google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?PLI=1

Then use this tool to transfer the file to a Flash DRIVE 4 GB or a DVD.  The tool also performs the bootable file.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

After getting the W8 installed, you can install the drivers and software you need for your support page and driver dv6-7210us.

  • New HP HARD drive > load recovery disks > fails to start after the installation process on the press continue

I have Pavilion d7-4165dx laptop. I saw US, that made a purchase of the United States (BestBuy).

-HARD drive failed after renewal of antivirus software trial period.

-All diagnoses would not recognize the HARD drive.

-Support HP said still in warranty, but I am out of country.  HP said more was likely HARD drive cable.

-Buy cables and a hand off USA door.

    -Installed, always the same answer.

-Ordered the new HP's HARD drive.  Out of stock.  Finally inquiring was commissioned to a part 3rd US rep.  He recommended to buy directly from output, but higher speed.  Did this and then HP replacement HARD drive arrives.  Both outside the U.S. door hand.

-Install the fastest (slightly smaller) Seagate 500G 7200.  Has started the recovery with discs of recovery (5 in total who received from BestBuy, but not the OEM to the research), but before the new HARD drive is smaller than the original WD 640 G 5400.   Put WD #1 Bay and Seagate in #2.

-Start the process of disk recovery.  Any resumption of the process of the plant and on the last drive-through, it says do not touch while the PC starts on and outside, etc.  Said so press on continue continue.

-When the press continue, simply goes to the black screen with "No boot device...". »

-Run the other options, the same message.

-Diagnosis of ran.  Drive HARD everything is OK.

-Called HP support.  It says I have to buy the HP recovery discs.  Those I have (5) is not the right one, there should be only 3!  They are that I got from BestBuy, but look like they were made here when BestBuy configures the PC.

    Suggestions anyone?

Someone has found the problem for me today...

  • T400 XP recovery CD creation - programs already installed

I need to create a recovery CD XP as my T400 only comes with Vista recovery (thanks!).

I have already installed several programs such as photoshop, office, etc. I tried to make the CD recovery and confused. The system made a CD, then another one but asked me to label the other as 'Recovery CD 1', then continued in fact to ask more blank CDs.

I stopped the process, thinking it was fill all these CD with the backup of my files and installed programs. My last XP Pro machine a recovery CD one (that I have used without any problem).

So my questions are, I have to go and uninstall everything I installed and then create the CD in order to get a clean restore CD? If not, why he was so many CDs and what the program asked me to name the other as "CD 1"?

Finally, is there a better way to get just a CD restore XP for this machine of Lenovo? Looking at these boards, it seems that people have had a lot of problems doing recovery with their created CD, and I want no problems when I inevitibely reformat my HD.

I don't know exactly why it takes so cd. I guess to include all preinstalled programs.

Sorry, but I'm a little confused. You wrote about Microsoft CD or DVD recovery facilities you have with your laptop?

I ask this question because, as far as I know, by its use of origin designed Toshiba recovery image the user should not get much just recovery procedure without adding any controllers or similar stuff.
