Why nothing will solve my Vista Service Pack E_FAIL(0x80004005) error?

I try to install sp2 to vista on my 32-bit operating system, but every time I have to try works very well until is restarts, and then to move on to step 3 of 3 100% and then goes to the service pack do not have install, reverting changes when that was done I get a popup saying "unknown error" and then further to the bottom of the pop-up window "E_FAIL(0x80004005)". I followed several pieces of advice as "temporarily disable your antivirus" and "do not use windows update, download it from the Download Center" but nothing seems to work, can anyone help?

  • Windows vista service pack 2 installation error

    Hello:
I tried to install windows vista SP2 via windows update, but it has failed, the error was 80070001. I tried to install sp2 by using the stand-alone Installer, but there was another error has occurred, probably 0x80070005. I even closed all running programs (including those of the icon of the status bar) and I even tried to delete the folder c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, but same error when I try to install sp2. In addition, I have installed the analysis tool, and it did not work, either, same error when I tried to install sp2.
I am running windows vista home basic 32-bit
What software may conflict with the installation of windows vista sp2?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Windows Vista,

Afraid that verify that you have all of the corrupt files.  To do this, follow these steps:

    1. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, clickStart, click principally made programs, accessories, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    2. type the following command and press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  • Vista Service Pack 2 will not ' cold' start

I have a Dell Studio 1737 I bought last week. Windows Vista Service Pack 2 update offered. I selected it and ran through the upgrade. He completed all 3 steps and rebooted. Seems to work very well. I turned off the laptop and went to bed.

This morning, the laptop complete the power on self test and went to boot Vista. Nothing for 20 minutes then a warning to the blue screen. He himself deleted before that I could read what caused the BSOD and then tried a reboot. Black screen for 20 minutes with no hard disk activity. Manually, I forced a stop down and loaded the boot menu. Choose the Startup Repair. After 30 minutes, advised by the screen to try a restore to an earlier version running. It took another hour, but it worked.

Update Windows SP2 offered again. Thinking that it may have been an installation failed, tried again. Downloaded and installed SP2, these three steps successfully completed. Yet once computer rebooted (hot start) and did fine. Shut down the system and restarted (cold boot). Same results! MESSAGE completed and handed over to Vista SP2 and then black screen. Took me another 90 minutes, but I restored it to Vista SP1, now it works well.

So I can run Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1 without problem but SP2 does not work?

Update looking for a 64-bit SP2 or just blindly offer software?

I think that Microsoft is using me as a Guinea pig.

I'm supposed to receive a DVD of Windows 7 from Dell, in an upgrade. I am wary to install it now since SP2 does not work yet. I was so angry, I jumped out early without digging further, but now I think I might very well be better to stay with SP1 and jump more "updates" unless someone can tell me what is happening here.

How SP1 can be compatible, but SP2 is not?

And if all you can afford is a response of canned paste, boiler, don't waste your time. All it will do is make me madder.

Apparently, offered to customers by Windows Update SP2 update is NOT a complete or is not 64-bit capable.

    UH - huh...

    1. What is the full name of your application or the installed antivirus security suite and when (date about) because your current subscription expires?  What (other than Defender) anti-spyware applications are installed?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

1B. were ALL of those applications that run in the background when you initially tried install SP2?

    2. do you have a free trial Norton, or a test of free McAfee [a] come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (No matter if you have never used or activated).

  • For Windows Vista, Service Pack 1 will not completely install.

On Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 - bit system, trying to update Explorer 7, that no longer works, to Explorer 9, which requires SP1 (KB936330) and SP2 as required components.  I use Windows Update method, Guard sent me with Service Pack 1 (KB936330) to update.  However, I do, and then he said it will take about an hour and do not use my computer.  I do this but in a few minutes 'complete' and said "completed successfully."  I have now more than a finished SP1 (KB936330) entry on my page in the history of the update, BUT does not appear under installed updates, so it seems that's not install completely.  Why?  How should I fill this out so I can go on installing SP2, then Explorer 9?

You have access to a Windows Vista installation disc? If so, follow the steps in this document to perform an InPlace upgrade. This will reinstall Vista without making any changes to the files and programs on the computer. Even if your data and programs must be safe, it is always advisable to make sure that you have a recent backup before major changes on the computer.
