    1. If this titled Window XP is in my program folder if my OS is Win 7?

    2. If I can successfully remove Windows XP Service Pack 3 of my programs - how can I remove the update for XP which is in my update Quebec?

    Hello

    ·        What is the update that is offered by windows update, number of KB?

    ·        What is the size of the file and the display name in the program file?

I suspect it's an update to sp3 Office which is available in the update of Windows.

Follow the steps mentioned in the article given below to verify the update is offered.

Should I delete srevice Pack1 and all its pc componits since I have service pack 3? And his watch still publishes to srevice pack 1. Thanks Jim Z.

    Hi Jim.

You don't need to uninstall or remove a service pack in your Windows XP.

Each pack of serivce is stacked on the previous service pack.

Infact, you will not be able to install the latest Service Pack before the previous one.

    I wish you good health.

Please check that it might be the Service Pack for your Microsoft Office, but not the Windows Service Pack to your Windows updates.

  • should I xp service pack 2 or 3? both have remote access?

Download serpack 2 for hosting using xp prof already have service pack 3 should I ser pack2

If you have already installed SP3, you have the latest service pack available installed and there is no need to 'try' install SP2... in any case even if try you the system would not let you install a service pack older at the top of the most recent.

  • Service packs how do I need?

I have Windows XP and an old Dell tower which was given me already setup. I looked at the list of programs installed and how much Service packs you need? What I keep and what I remove? MSXML 6 (KB973686) MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB973688) MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB954430) then theres Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 SP 2,3.0 SP 2,3.5 SP 1. As do I and what can I delete? It also has Microsoft Works 2001 installation Launcher. There are a lot of programs that I'm not sure. I'm no computer expert, that's why I'm here. Please feel free to stop me from ruining my PC. Thank you. jeannine420carol

    jeannine420carol,
For Windows XP, you must have service pack 3.  If you click Start > right click on my computer > click on properties; that will tell you what service pack you are running.  The .net and MSXML are Windows components that use programs to run.  There are different versions of these components, and some of them have their own service packs.  Unless you know what that all programs you run need to work, then you should leave them in place.

However, given that you have received a used PC I would say recharging the system to the factory settings.  Dell should have provided recovery disk to restore the system failing factory.  If there is no any drive, it is possible that there is a partition on the hard drive containing the recovery information.  You would need to check with Dell for your specific model on how to perform a factory restore.  If you do this, then you will be a "day one" configuration on the PC and should not have a bunch of components installed.  The factory restore now is just what I would do personally.

    Hope that helps.

  • Problem installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1

I tried to install the service pack, but I always seem to have become a fatal every time.

Reads "fatal error file C000009A 118538".

I used the system update tool, but there always this error.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS btw.

I had the same problem, apply Service Pack 1 for Windows7 Ultimate 64-bit.  I fixed it by using the system restore to remove the semi-finished SP1 and then uninstall all language except English (my default system language) packs.  Once SP1 is installed successfully.  Using the installation package SP1 stand-alone, rather than the update of Windows, nothing helped.

  • used to install Vista service pack 2. help please

I tried to install it twice, just don't install. the progress bar gets all the way through, but it is said that it is impossible to install. I strongly doubt of my drive is full, I have nothing here. and I didn't cancel it... so any help is great!

    Hey sarrade,.

Please, try the following steps to install Service Pack 2 on your computer.

The reason why Service Packs are system files corrupted or some third party software conflict or because of some obsolete drivers on the computer.

But you don't worry why it failed and what is the possible cause of his failure.

    So, here are the steps:

    1. turn off your anti-virus software.

    2. put the computer in a clean boot by following these steps

    a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    b. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)
    c. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

Note following this step lets Microsoft services continue to operate. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.
    d. click OK and then click on restart.

    3. disconnect your external devices [basically printers, scanners, do not unplug keyboard or mouse]

4 turn off your Windows updates by clicking on the evolution of the setting in the Windows Update window. Check do not search for updates.

5 try to clear Windows Update history.

    1. click on start--> all programs--> accessories--> right click on command prompt - click on run as administrator.

    2. hit enter on each order now.

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\services.msc

In the Services window, stop the following services by right-clicking on each of the services.

    a. Background Intelligent Transfer Service

    b. Crytpographic Service.

    c. Windows Update Service.

    3. go back to the command prompt and type these commands.

    Ren catroot2 catroot2.old C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CD...

    C:\WINDOWS\ren c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old

Go back to Windows Services and restart the services which we stopped as shown in step 2.

    4. open the Windows Update window and in the lower corner on the left, click installed updates. A list of updates will fill. In the upper right corner in the search box, try searching the KB972036 update.

If you find this KB972036update, please right-click on the update and uninstall.

    5. close all windows and start downloading these two updates.

  • Windows - XP Service Pack 1 has server not reachable

Try to rebuild the PC of a disk of XP with Service Pack 1 only systems

Instructions involve Service Pack 1a is required

I have download the stub successfully, but when I try to run it, he tries to contact a USA based microsoft Server and fails.

As a result, I can't add any other service packs until 1a is applied.

The server is down or is there a problem with the heel?

If your installation to service pack 1, you don't need service pack 1a.  The difference between sp1 and sp1a was the removal of the last of the "Microsoft Java Virtual Machine", Microsoft had to do as part of a legal settlement with Sun.  It makes no difference what the installation of sp2/sp3.

Turn on the Windows Firewall and make sure you have an active up-to-date anti-virus application.

If you have XP sp1, you can go directly to sp3 (you need not sp1a or sp2).  However, see the tips of long date MS MVP PA Bear (which assumes that your "XP systems disk" does NOT test any software particularly any trial Norton or McAfee software):

HOW to get WinXP SP1 or SP2 fully patched after a "clean install":

    http://groups.Google.com/group/Microsoft.public.WindowsXP.General/MSG/a066ae41add7dd2b

    1. download & save the installer for WinXP SP3 on your desktop:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5b33b5a8-5E7...

[Yes, you can jump SP2 if you run WinXP SP1.]

    2. read & take into account:
    http://msmvps.com/blogs/harrywaldron/archive/2008/05/08/Windows-XP-SP...

3 connected as long as administrator, if necessary, double-click the saved file to install WinXP SP3.  Follow the prompts. Be patient and restart twice when the installation ends.

    4. make the resolution method 2 here (believe me):
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/943144

    5. go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com . Install all required software, and then click CONTINUE. Select CUSTOM and scan | Install the critical updates of security offered. Still, follow all the instructions.

[I do NOT recommend install IE7 through Windows Update.]

    6. make sure that automatic updates is enabled; FC.

  • Problem loading Service Pack 3

I am trying to load TurboTax Deluxe and he couldn't because I wasn't using Service Pack 3.  When I tried to download SP3, I got a message "MICROSOFT WORD 2002 the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is is not available" and I do not have this disc.  What can I do?

    Through these two articles:

    What offers Shenan Stanley is...

    1. Go to this web page: How to reset the Windows Update components? and use the Fix It utility in aggressive mode.

    2. Reset.

    3. Download here all the SP3 Setup file: Windows XP Service Pack 3 Package of Network Installation for developers and information technology professionals and save it to the Office of the administrator of the user account on the computer in question.

    4. Reset.

    5. Double-click the installation file downloaded in step 3 and follow the instructions.

  • I need to upgrade internet e, but every time I try it says my service pack is not supported.

I have already installed SP1 and did all my updates.  I don't know why, it always says that my service pack is not supported.  I have windows vista.  you will need to be upgraded since the Explorer 7 to ie8 or better.

    Hello

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you here what Service Packs, if any, are already installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, first of all the installation of SP1.

    Vista SP1 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30

    Vista SP1 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21299

    Vista SP2 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17669

  • Service Pack update and problems w / IE

I got a notification of update of the week last for a new service pack.  It took hours to update and when it was finally over I had the latest version (I think) of Internet Explorer.  Since the update, I had any other problems.  Error messages are constantly upward (Internet Explorer does not work - or something like that), some Web sites (e.g., Pogo) rise in blocks or stop completely.  How do I either fix this or uninstall this service pack for me where I was.  I was starting to not be able to go to some sites because of IE not updated, but it was much better than this!

Windows Vista has not had a new service pack in more than three years.  Service Packs do not have (historically) come bundled with new versions of Internet Explorer.  That's the different updates.
