  • So dead computer battery died. Why the computer is not put in Hibernate or stop safely on its own?

It must be a problem with Vista. When my computer battery runs out, my computer dies. Why is it not computer smart enough to know the battery died about to close?  When I used XP, the computer would Hibernate protection itself. With Vista, I get a warning that the battery is almost dead, but most of the time I don't get any warnings, the matrices of the computer. Because he died, when I restart the computer, 9 of 10 times I get an error message and several varying options to start in safe mode to start normally.  The other tenth, the computer takes about 20 minutes to get back to normal, sometimes I even to restore the computer to a previous backup. Its been getting worse lately, these last 2 months. When the computer was new 1.8 years ago, I never had to restore when the computer was turned off.
From the beginning, I returned the computer to bridge and when I came back, they did something that until now I know.  The computer is always went cold Turkey when the battery was missing. Recently, I thought of the situation and realized that it wasn't a gateway problem but a problem with the operating system.

I'm wrong, it of a Vista problem and shouldn't the computer hibernate or sleep instead of just trying to die and lose everything?

Make sure that your power options are set correctly:

Place your mouse over the the battery icon on the taskbar and right click.
    Select "Power Options".

According to the plan used on your computer, click on "Change Plan settings".

    Click on "change power avancΘs."

Scroll down and expand the entry for the battery.
    Expand "critical battery Action.
Make sure it is set to Hibernate or sleep, you like (Hibernate allows you to Exchange batteries without data loss).
Expand "Critical battery level" and set the battery level at which this action take place (5-7% usually leaves enough power to go in hibernation).

    Click on 'Ok '.
Once the laptop goes into hibernation, not to interrupt the process by removing the battery until the light on the hard drive and all the other lights stop flashing and power down. Once they have fed completely down (may take a few minutes) you can exchange the batteries safely. To wake up from hibernation, press and release the power (once) button. Function of various factors, your laptop can take 1 to 5 minutes to return to the login screen, although usually, it will be one or two minutes, not five.

  • Computer won't wake from sleep after installing the update July 2013

Original title: a reason any after July 2013 windows update mode "sleep" freeze my computer

Before I wake up problems due to incompatibility with windows 7 and SATA Hard drives (WD). This problem has been fixed with Windows Update August 2012.  Just recently after July 2013 Windows Update. After that my computer is in mode "sleep" for a certain time it freezes and will not restart until I press and hold the power button until the computer turns off. Then pressing the windows button star as a "Recovery Windows" message will appear.

I blame the July 2013 Windows Update. But I can't be sure what it causing the problem... I cleaned the Reg via CC & norton util 16 more run antiwalware Malwarebytes and run a Norton virus check. the lock in question remains.

    Any ideas?

Problem solved... I had added a USB 3.0 Hub to my system. Unfortunately I do not share this Yauqb, thinking that a USB problem would not cause the fault that the USB (connected devices to the) worked well, my lack of this info likely extended the solution time.

Somehow that it finally dawned on me that look at the manufacturers site hub, of course nestled in the catacombs of the FAQ is a text of presentation all by unchecking the checkbox in the section of wake-up USB Device Manager.

When you look in Device Manager, USB devices are not the easiest to deal with because there are many multiple subdivisions more with no name and only cryptic blurbs attached when you look in the properties. Lucky a USB 3.0 arrives as 'High Speed' which reduces my 3-point action fields, uncheck all sleep problems fixed.

  • Why my computer (windows 7) would a 'sleep' mode while I am on the internet or just doing some stuff on my computer?

Recently I ran into a few problems with my windows 7.  Everything first, just a week and a half I am upgrading my antivirus/spyware program and a number of times I want to restart the computer.  I managed to get into my computer without difficulty the first time, then the last restart, I couldn't enter my computer!  So, I used the recovery disks and started fresh and I also bought another disc of the same product antivirus/spyware, installed and put in the new activation key and thought I was standing (there was some problems under reliability, he says Microsoft register server has stopped working).

This morning, I have the problem that when I'm on the computer (either on the net or just doing some stuff on the computer), it goes into mode 'sleep' and I have to enter the password.

    What happens here?

    Hi Palette,

Thanks for posting your question on the Forum of the Microsoft community.

    1. What is brand and model your computer?
    2. What anti-virus program is installed in the computer? Do you have problems running the program?

The error "Microsoft register server has stopped working" usually arises due to the DEP data. In addition, your computer past "standby mode" reflects a possible problem with the installation fails, the anti-virus program or due to a misconfigured power management. So, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Try to run the electrical troubleshooting utility and check if you get the sleep mode issues.

    Reference:

    Open the troubleshooter of power

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-power-Troubleshooter

In addition, refer to the section: my computer will switch automatically to standby if I don't use it after a short period of time in the following article:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/troubleshoot-power-problems

If the problem persists, go to method 2.

    Method 2:

The other possible reason, then this problem started, like installing antivirus, I suggest you uninstall the program, run Microsoft fixit to uninstalled programs and then reinstall the software.

Step 1: Uninstall anti-virus from its corresponding removal tool or in the control panel as shown below.

    • Open programs and features, click on the Start button , click Control Panel, click programs and then click programs and features.
    • Select the anti-virus program and then click Uninstall. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • Restart your computer.

Step 2: Run the next fixit.

The problems that the programs cannot be installed or uninstalled

Step 3: Reinstall the anti-virus from the disc program.

Check if you get the question.

If the problem persists, try Method 3.

    Method 3:

The question may arise also because of any conflict of third party software. So, I suggest to start your computer in a selective startup called, clean boot and check for the issue.

Note: See "How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as usual after a repair.

  • Parental control: I am the admin of the computer and the computer won't let me access the list allow and block my child's account

I am the administrator of the computer and the computer won't let me access the list allow and block my child's account.  I'll bring my parental control password, click on my childs account, put parental controls, go to web filter and click on block some web sites, click on edit the allow and block list and the computer tells me that it is not able to make changes to parental controls settings and see the system administrator if the problem persists.

    Hi Ranw,

    ·        What is the error message when you try to change parental controls?

    ·        Have you been able to make any changes on this computer from your account earlier?

You can follow the steps below and check if you can make changes to the parental controls on your computer.

    Step 1:

Disable UAC (User Account Control) and check the result. Access the link below and follow the steps to disable UAC.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-user-account-control-on-or-off

Note: You must restart your computer when you enable or disable UAC. Change levels of notification does not require that you restart your computer.

    Step 2:

I suggest to create a new administrator account and log later in the new administrator account, try to set parental controls and check if it works.

    Create a user account:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Create-a-user-account

Check out the link below to check if the parental control is properly set:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/set-up-parental-controls

I hope this helps. Let us know the result.

  • Switches to color when you restart the computer profile or wakes from sleep

I bought a Dell Inspiron 1470 with Windows 7 at home as a backup of my MacBook Pro.  I used the Spyder2Express to calibrate my screen that works well.  After that I restarted my PC the color profile has been enabled for a few short seconds, but then returned to the default setting, which is horribly blue and too bright.

I then removed the color profile created by my Spyder2Express and used Windows' built in the calibration of the monitor.  Yet once, it worked until I rebooted the computer, or he woke from sleep mode.

I then wen to the control panel-->--> the color management advanced and assured the new profile is the default value of the system.  The problem still remained after the computer is restarted.

The only solution I have found so far is if after I restarted my pc I go to Panel of--> of color management and select and clear the checkbox "use my settings for this device."  My profile will then return until I restart the next time.

As a pro photographer, it is a question that is extremely disappointing.  I searched forums, web, called Dell directly and none of this was of no help.  Any thoughts?

    Hi Mike,.

It seems that software Spyder2Express adds color profile after each reboot. We can check if really Spyder2Express is the origin of the problem

    Method 1:

Uninstall Spyder 2 express and check if the return of the issue after each reboot.

    Method 2:

Configure the computer to boot and then refine the boot entry that is causing the problem

Step 1: Perform a clean boot:

Note If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.
    a. log in the computer using an account with administrator rights.
    b. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.
    c. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    d. under the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)
    e. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
Note following this step lets Microsoft services continue to operate. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.
    f. click OK and then click on restart.

Step 2: Enable half the services

    a. click on the Services tab and then click to select the skin all the Microsoft services checkbox.
    b. Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.
    c. click OK and then click on restart.

    Solve the problem:
After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

Reset the computer to start as usual:
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

All the steps above to perform the clean boot is mentioned in the following article

    Hope this helps,

  • x 201 laptop computer won't go to sleep

I have all my settings for the laptop goes to sleep when I close the lid.  But it is not at all... or she is about 3 seconds... then wakes up immediately to the top (without me touching the laptop at all).

I have an external mouse which is configured not to wake up the computer, but I know that this isn't the culprit, because the computer is not even sleep if I remove the USB adapter.

I solved it on my own.  Apparently, there are two places that you can set the properties of the mouse.  One of the control panel... material and his... mouse option and the other the "devices and printers" option

If you uncheck the option box 'waking up' on the first option, the mouse will always wake the computer.  If the same option is chosen, the latest, it won't.
