Why the driver update fails with the error code 800705 b 4 when I try to install the latest video driver for my Dell vostro Intel computer laptop?

Windows Update tries to update the Intel driver newly released my laptop Dell Vostro 3750.
I get error code 800705 b 4 every time.
Any ideas as to the cause?
I get system freezes lately and want to make sure I have the latest drivers for all my hardware before contacting Dell technical support.

Thank you.

Robert.

Also, check your windows update settings and provide recommended updates is not selected for the automatic update, but only the important updates.

Aside from not not using drivers available under recommended updates, for all other first check the details as to whether its relevant for your specific use.

Original title: Windows update problems on pc of the year 9 after reformat

    Hello Crom

My first advice is to slowly get out of Windows XP... It's time to upgrade, but that's my opinion.
This problem is very common and can be easily solved by:
    1. Download the latest Windows Update Agent
      http://download.windowsupdate.com/WindowsUpdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
    2. Then click on your keyboard click the Windows + R at the same time
    3. Type CMD and press enter
    4. Now, enter the command

      net stop bits

    5. Run the Windows Update Agent
    6. Enter the following command at the command prompt (step 2):

      net start wuauserv

    7. Now, enter the command

      Net start bits

Let me know if it solves your problem.

    Hello

Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
    Method 1:
I suggest you try the steps from the following link:

Files that are copied to the drive it are not on the hard drive with the same structure, which means that the 'original' files on the drive are modified/changed/corrupted while being copied to the location of the 'destination' on your hard drive during installation. So I tried to download KB979482 here:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=9622 and run it standalone.

However, when I try this, Windows Update Standalone install displays the message"this update does apply to your system."

I can live with that (if the message is actually true). But if if this patch does not apply to my system, then why Windows Update keep trying to install it as an update 'important '? How can I get off the list so that the Windows Update log is not cluttered with all of the failed attempts?   Finally, I ran Windows Update Fixit tool available.  He fixed a couple of things (default location, another minor config) but not this problem.

P.S. running BitDefender 2012 if it matters...

To answer my own question, you can reset the status of the following method KB2509997 8 download and rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. It would be nice if there was a less force brute to do this, because she loses all your update story and settings, but at least it works.

  • Receive the error code: 0 x 0070017 when I try to save it on a Vista 32 bit.

Original title: I get the error code 0 x 0070017 when I try to save it on a Vista 32 bit. I tried disk repair & restoration. does not work. any help appreciated, Doug

Recently, I have code failure error 0 x 0070017 when I save.   Using the error checking & repair disk hard does not help, nor restores at the earliest.  I tried the restore dates & get restore disk failed. All the disks are clean virus according to Norton 360.   This computer running Vista 32 bit.

    Any help is appreciated... Doug

    Hi Doug,.

    1. What is the full error message that you receive?

    2. are you trying to backup to an external drive?

    3. you have any third-party backup program installed on the system?

    4. have you made a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

I'm sorry to know that you are always faced with the question after performing a restore of system and control of disk. However, you can try the following steps and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

You can try to change the backup location and see if it helps.

For more information, see the article:

Change when you save your files

    Method 2:

You can temporarily disable antivirus software and firewall on the computer as a test and check if it makes a difference.

If disabling the antivirus/firewall resolves the issue, you may need to configure the settings of the antivirus/firewall accordingly. Please contact the software vendor for assistance in this regard.

Note: Make sure that you enable the antivirus software and firewall after the test.

Please post back and let us know if the steps helps to solve the problem.
