  I did what you said above (all points) but the problem was not solved, fortunately the problem was solved by downloading Microsoft DVD fix tool "MicrosoftFixit.dvd.MATSKB.Run.exe" and run it.

  I recently acquired a new machine of HP, the good people at staples stock. I tried to install the reader on this machine several times and failed miserably. I have download the installer, run it. The progress bar fills up to the end and then... nothing. Reader isn't on my computer later, and I can not even open PDFs.

  I tried to run Adobe Air, tried making all the various pluggins are running on firefox, tried to download from the internet explore. I ran the installer probably a dozen times now, various downloads, at different times. Nothing seems really to put Reader on my computer.

  Any ideas?

  Thanks for the screenshot... PDF does not open because the reader is not yet installed on your machine. You can do something-> install Reader 9.3.0 using ftp (the msi) link:

  After installation, update 9.3.4 help > check for updates.
