  In my case the problem was caused by multiple NICs on my development machine.
  ORA_DBMS_JDWP has been set at ip_address of wireless adapter which was on the other network segment as the oracle server.
  Rotation of the wifi adapter and then restart visual studio solved the problem.

  If you are using vmware workstation that ora_dbms_jdwp can also be assigned to the IP address of the virtual map of vmware.

  When you try to read a disk in the 'A' drive from Windows Explorer, I get a Popup with a white 'X' in a red circle and a message that "A:\ is not Accessible" "Incorrect function" and an OK button at the bottom.  It happens to any disk, formatted or not, with the files or empty.  I replaced the disk drive - no help.

  I don't know if it's a windows setting went crazy or a motherboard problem.  My BIOS seems correct.  If I do a 'fill' of window hardware in administrative tools he tells me that I have data on the disk.

  I have XP - SP3.

  Any ideas-

  go to a command prompt and type "sfc/scannow" (without the quotes) and let it run... see if this is helpful at all.

• MASTERED OPTION IS GRAYED OUT WHEN YOU TRY TO BURN A HOME PC PREM BRAND NEW VIRGIN DVD + R ON VISTA 32-BIT

  Due to virus I had to rebuild PC using the RECOVERY partition on hard drive. All windows updates have been applied to date (August 2011). Before the virus problem (July 2011) WAS able TO SELECT THE "MASTERED" OPTION WHEN YOU are GOING to USE WINDOWS TO BURN a VIRGIN DVD + r. NEW once AGAIN, this WORKED BEFORE, NOW THE MASTER OPTION IS GRAYED OUT.  I have a brand new DVD + R blank and tried several of them thinking it was the disk (I've used this same brand (magnavox) DVD + R 4 years now never this problem of the "controlled" option is grayed out.) I use the same DVD burner which came with the PC and it allowed me to select the option "Mastered" last month (July 2011). I am using Windows HomePrem 32-bit OS (originial system that came with PC and this allowed me to select the mastered option last month. I applied all the updates Win at present. I have no other problems with the PC. Once again, driving the nail: this WORKED BEFORE, last month on the exact same hardware and the software/OS (Juillet2011), then why this option appears GRAYED out now?  This question has been asked before and 'experts' simply stressed totally USELESS MS pages showing how to select either under control or direct - I DO NOT NEED THIS HELP as I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO SELECT either option and what each is for. Also the other 'fixed' DOES NOT APPLY to this situation.   I use the NI USB-8451 box make communication I2C to talk to multiple devices.  I would like to put some features in my program to set up a list of devices that are connected to the bus.  It will attempt to communicate all 112 available addresses.  I tried testing this point by connecting the USB-8451 housing to any device and providing the address 10. It took about 5 seconds for the USB-8451 timeout box.  It would take a long time to proceed to any address 112.  So my questions are:

  Is it possible to shorten the duration of the timeout?

  Is there a better way to do this?

  Although the value of timeout is not adjustable, I was able to interview everyone address 112 using the API script fairly quickly.  Here is the VI I've used.  Let me know if it helps.

  Yesterday, I got no sound and video, today I have sound but no video.  What is happening with this?

  I updated my drivers and now the video does not work.  I use Windows Media Player c. 9.00.00.4510.  When I click on read the file, in the black bar at the bottom ready it flashes very fast "error downloading codec".  Before I updated the drivers, I got the video with no sound.  Where this codec disappeared to?   How can I get that back?

  I have updates for the 9 Series Player and I'm happy with it.  If I move up to 10 or 11, codecs and drivers will work with it automatically or will I have the same problem?

  I found this solution to the question on the forum

  1. Check that the values under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders use valid drive letters.
  2. If there is no valid drive letters, change them to point to valid readers
  3. Try to install the software and check if that helps.

  This method works.  I changed the references to the Z drive in the registry and I am able to install the program.

  However, drive Z is not an invalid drive.  I have mapped a network drive to Z:\ and changed the place of My Documents, my music and my pictures in a folder on Z:\.

  Am I destined to temporarily change my registry keys whenever I want to install or uninstall a program?  There must be a better solution.

  I guess when you install a program, you get a UAC prompt to raise. This will switch you to another opening of session with a full administrator token. Information on mapped drives are specific to each logon when the high performance you do not see the drives mapped unelevated session.

  It's quite complicated so, rather than give a long explanation, I suggest you watch the following presentation addresses this question in the section from 49 minutes. The mapped drives is discussed 53 minutes.
