Why the spell checker has become delayed?

It was that features built-in to firefox spellchecker did exactly what I needed, it's to tell me when I misspelled a Word. However, it seems these days that it is dictionary source is manufactured by complete idiots.

More than 2 dozens of times now, I've learned that a word somewhere in my internetting will not, just to google it and find out who guess what? IT HAS BEEN SPELLED CORRECTLY.
The spell checker does not recognize as the word MILLENNIUM. WTF ha [open?

Unless you have misspelled voluntarily the word MILLENNIUM in your question, the correct spelling is Millennium (2 n, not 1).

You must install a dictionary instead of using the built-in dictionary (u. s. English Firefox only). It seems that you do not have a dictionary installed: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/

The correct spelling is displayed in the English Dictionary of the u. by doing a right click on the misspelled word. I have not installed British English Dictionary.

  • Why the spell checking language setting does not match prefs.js?

I only have one profile in ~/.mozilla/firefox (default profile), and in prefs.js contains

    user_pref ("spellchecker.dictionary", "en_US");

(which is correct). Despite this, about: config tells me that the language is en_AU, and this is what is used by the spell checker. I can't change to en_US in the context menu in a text field and the sticks of change until I close FF, but the next time I start FF we return to Australia despite the adjustment in prefs.js. Before or after you change the synchronization setting makes no difference. Running in safe mode makes no difference.

  • How to keep English as a default value in the spell checker after adding another dictionary?

I added a Spanish dictionary for firefox that I sometimes email Spanish-speaking. Since then, the spell checker has stuck to Spanish language by default whenever I restart the browser.
As soon as I select English, it remains until I close the browser. But goes back to Spanish when I open a new window.
I tried every setting I could find, and I also tried to remove and reinstall both languages via add dictionary.
I am at a loss. Can anyone offer some advice?
    Thank you

You can check the spellchecker.dictionary pref setting on the topic: config page and if the pref tells the user the value (in bold) and then try to reset via the context menu to the default value.

You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • To set the spell checker to use English in Office 2003

I use Office 2003.  Recently, I was using a documented who wrote in Spanish in South America. I wrote in English.  The spell checker has proved to be in Spanish. I tried to change the country, but whenever I did it would return to the Spanish. I can't find a way to put the spell checker to use only English. I loaded a document originally written in English, but the spell checker remained in Spanish

    Can you help me.

  • Adobe Flash Professional CS6, cannot use the spell checker, missing or not there

I am trying to use the spell checker on Adobe Flash CS6, everywhere I look for help is very minimal. Most places just say click text > then check the spelling, but I cannot see anywhere, I found these instructions at the assistance of Adobe CS6, but help on the Adobe website has been short a useless.

I'm not sure what is bad mainly because of the minimal help, I found online, but as I said, check spelling is not under the text and nowhere else as far as I can tell. Any advice would help, I think I remember having to add a spelling dictionary to check manually on the older versions of Macromedia Flash is the case here? If so why is it so difficult to find help on this topic?

Thank you in advance for any help.

It's under the text of the main menu bar option, at least that's where.  I don't have an explanation as to why you haven't if you do not have.  I've never had to do anything to set up.

The current versions of Firefox hide spelling in the context of a text box menu if the web page disables the spell checking via a spellcheck = "false" attribute of this element.

You can click right in the area of the text editor and use "Inspect element" to see if this text box has a spell checker attribute = "false".

Remove this spellcheck = "false" attribute by selecting it via double click and using the BACKSPACE or DELETE key should reappear the item check spelling from the context menu.

  • The spell checker in the bad taste of the English

So I am sure I posted this a couple of weeks, but I can't find he's going so here once again.

I am running Firefox 3.6.13 provided with Ubuntu (10.10).

When I use a word like flavor, the spell checker highlights with the tildes and suggests 'flavour '. Similarly for the behavior and other words. I agree (that I just sqiggled; he wants to "recognize) as the British spelling convention. I downloaded the 5.01 spell English of the United States, but that was of no use. I finally thought to look in: config and found: spellchecker.dictionary the value en_AU - in other words, the Australian Dictionary.

I can't just blindly this put to US without knowing that:
-C' is the correct name for the dictionary I need. (Seems likely).
-That the extension above is indeed the dictionary it would have access.

I note that the Australian Dictionary is spelled en_AU - with an underscore - while the American dictionary is spelled en - with a dash. It is the kind of stuff I have to watch out for, because if I bumble, I am not able to restart FireFox.

    Thanks for the help here.

Is easier to let Firefox to do this.

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right click in a text box and open the submenu language.

You can open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you don't.

Also make sure that [X] "Check spelling" in the menu contextual has a tick.

  • How to disable permanently the spell check in Notes

How to disable permanently the spell check in Notes?

    Here are my steps:

    1. With the help of Notes in OS X 10.11.5, click Edit/spelling and grammar and then clearly the 2 options "check spelling as you type" and "automatically correct spelling."
    2. Close and re - open Notes.

    What I expected:

only the two options "check spelling as you type" and "automatically correct spelling" is always disabled when Notes is reopened

    In fact:

the two options "check spelling as you type" and "automatically correct spelling" is enabled once more

Spell check in Notes for a reason any seems particularly disruptive and unnecessary. Any way to turn it off permanently?

System text/keyboard/preferences and uncheck automatically correct spelling.

New computer. Using Mozilla Thunderbird for email but the spell checker does not work.

You can also download a dictionary in the settings pane opened by the latter sense, but the link it provides is almost certainly open in Thunderbird. At some point, it of better with the right button and select 'Open in browser' and it will re - open in your default browser. From there, you can download. I would recommend you right click on the proposed link, use "Save as" and download it. You can then drag the file downloaded from the window modules modules of Thunderbird, or use the small button to the left of the search box in the window.

  • How can I activate the spell checker as a default?

I was typing merrily along and noticed a typo in the fact that the fault of strike was NOT highlighted in red wavy underlines. Hmmmm, I thought.

Tweak, I discovered an option on the right click that allowed me to turn on the spell checker. Now, whenever I type in an email or a forum, Twitter, anywhere, I right-click to be sure my spelling.

Thus began my efforts to find how to set the button to be on by default... Finding no led me to 'Help', including a search for the term "default spell checker" led me to a value zero for returns. Of course, he had discussions with these terms, but I couldn't do them lurk all looking for the method of definition of spell checking to be on by default. The first pages gave nothing...
