Why update readiness tool takes so long to install

I downloaded Update Readiness Tool to solve a problem of update.
the download went well, initialization went well, the installation seems to be hung at about 3/4 of the way through.
Is this normal?

Thanks for the help

Hi DONDI001

System update readiness tool takes a long time to settle. I suggest you to wait for a while and check if installation is complete

But if the problem persists for a longer time, then you can check in a clean boot state. To perform the clean boot follow step 1 mentioned in the article below, and then try again check in the clean boot state -

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

If the problem is resolved check which service non-Microsoft is the source of the problem; referring to article and following the other steps.

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

b. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option and then click OK.

c. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

I hope this helps.

    Hi MeProgrammer,

Temporarily disable the antivirus software on the computer as a test and try to install the update and check if this is useful to fix the problem.

If disabling the antivirus software works, then you need to configure the same so that it does not disturb. Please contact the software vendor for assistance in this regard.

    Warning

Thanks Gerry, I went through a couple more cycles of running the tool for troubleshooting Windows Update and reboot.  Ithen left to 'check updates' during the night and in the morning he had downloaded and installed the missing updates.  I don't know if there was a more general problem with Microsoft's servers yesterday or if it's just that I was too impatient for something to happen, but I'm now safely on Windows 10.  Thanks for your interest.  Best regards, Michael.

  • Stop indicates a ready to install update ready but the judgment does not install anything

Using a Windows 7, 16 k RAM system, always had normal installation of updates when there is a "!" stated in the stop start button. Today, there is an indication that an update is ready to install, but when I stop, there is no indication that one or more updates is installed. and when I start the computer the "!" is still there in the start stop button. I tried see if there are specific updates available for the instillation, and no seems to be there. But, as noted, every time I'm going to stop there is indication of an update ready for instillation that is not installed with the computer of the system/stop. Direction/advice/thoughts?

You can reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on this page. But if there is malware present, she will continue to reset the connection to the update servers:

Suggest you download and save the Fixit. Then configure the system before the clean boot by running:

Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native Windows Firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously. Now run the Fixit and choose the default mode. Restart once it's done and see if the system can be connected to the update servers. If he can't, then rerun the Fixit and choose aggressive mode. Turn it back on when he finished the race and updates.

I suggest before you stop and install the updates, disconnect from the Internet, first.

Three minutes is not long however you can probably cut that with these methods.

You can use these to control which startup programs. Many others who settle start-up are not

  • Update takes too long to install the right until the computer turns off

    Hello!

I formatted a Windows 7 HP computer, and I was having a bunch of annoying problems related to updated Windows Update (for more than a week, incredible!), more precisely I encountered the problem of the infinite search for updates several times (I formatted in fact the PC more than once), and unfortunately, I have seen no any model when it occurs. I've seen many solutions online, but none of them seem to work. If this computer was mine, I would have already installed another operating system, i.e. Linux.

Now, after several attempts, the last of them was to start first windows in "safe" mode, and then restart normally, I have observed that, although apparently she wanted so much for the updates, under the windows of Hood put to date has already installed some updates and others have been suspended, and we failed. I decided to restart the PC, and now it is install updates after the newspaper a few hours already. Apparently, he was installing the updates normally, but at some point he stuck with update number 234 (on 292). It was at least 2 or 3 hours, which is to install this update, and I think that it is not normal.

What can I do? Could it be related to the internet connection? I had a lot of trouble to set up the internet connection, mainly because of the card wireless PC, apparently dying. But I used it, before ending the session, a USB Netgear adapter, and I was able to connect to the internet, etc.

    Thanks for your help!

I just wanted to say that after waiting a bit more put updated 234 has been installed as well as all the other updates that came after him. Thus, the long waiting times could be due to a problem with internet or any connection simply because the update was quite heavy...

I'll take a look at this post ;)

  • Why this video rendering takes a long time?

OS X Mavericks, Photoshop cc 2014, 2011 core i7 3.4 imac with 32 GB of ram, 256GB ssd drive work, 2 GB video card.

Rendering takes about 24 hours to complete. Why is it so much to take? I tried this on other machines, but they're all around the same time. Is there a better way to do it? Thank you, in advance, for your help!

How long we video clips and I see at least one you have added a camera raw smart filter.   I don't know how a smart filter works on a video clip. However if Photoshop need tenant one full frame for each video frame and filter each image frame with ACR then encodes images in a video stream to mp4, it could be a very time consuming process for nearly 170 000 frames.  Have you tried encoding mp4 without using the smart filter ACR adjustment? Also, you do not show the range of the timeline.

  • Why my photo library takes a long time to create or open a library?

I have my photo library automatically updated to Version 1.0.1. When I click on the "Get Started" button, it is still loading. It was a night.

There is an important image in my library. What should I do?

    Hi skrxoxo,

The length of time that it will take to your new to create photo library depends on the number of photos that you have your different libraries and your internet connection speed if you have enabled iCloud photo library.  It could take up to a week if your photo collection is vast. Here is some information on the process:

Start with Photos for OS X
    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT204655

If you need to access the image important that you mentioned above, you can use the Spotlight search if you know the name of the file.  Or, you can open iPhoto or Aperture, if the file exists in one of these libraries.

    Take care

  • 800 b 0100 Windows Update error even after system update readiness tool

The last time I tried to install updates, an update installs with update error 800b0100.  I have downloaded and run the system tool in the proposed aid system but I still get the same error.  I use 32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 on a dual-boot Apple iMac.  What should I do now?

    Hi Michael,

1 update you are trying to install?

    2. have you tried to install the update manually?

    Method 1:

You can run scanning of the file system [SFC] checker on the computer which will replace missing or corrupt files & try to install the stand-alone update package.

For more information, you can consult the following link.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    Method 2:

After you run the analysis, you can try to download and install the standalone update package.

    a. to download updates from the Microsoft Download Center

    b. Enter the item number in the field search and download the same.

    c. double-click on the downloaded file.

    d. click on run and follow the wizard to install it.

    Hope this information is useful.
