  • Windows 7 Excel and Word 2010 jump lists appear only not on the Start Menu

    Hello

I would like to apologize if this is in the wrong section... I got here by looking at another thread, which ultimately does not solve my problem. I read the same solutions on dozens of different threads and not one has done something to help, so I thought I'd try to ask once again, indicating that I have tried and see if anyone has any other ideas!
... I also like to apologize if "jump list" is the wrong term. I mean, it is when I click on my Start Menu, and "Microsoft Word/Excel 2010" icon is the small arrow on the side right does not allow me to click everywhere for what files I recently consulted on Word. I have exactly the same problem in Excel 2010, but No problem at all for Powerpoint 2010 and it seems that programs such as Notepad and so forth are very well as well.
    What I did:
    1. right click on 'Taskbar', click 'Properties', select the "Start Menu" tab, under "Privacy", I checked the boxes ("Store and display recently opened programs in the start menu" and "Store and display recently opened items in the start menu and the taskbar").
Make a right-click on 'Taskbar'-> properties-> select Menu-> customize-> items recent fact make it appear a list but less it is tab and not attached to the application (which is what I want to xD).
My original problem was that the list of recent items for Word has not been updated and it was stuck on what he was about 3 months - which eventually prove needless after I lived my computer and deleted, renamed and moved a bunch of word documents! Unchecking the boxes got rid of the arrow completely, and when I checked hide them he refused to reappear for Word and Excel.
    2. I was at '% AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations' all files deleted from here and restarted my computer - ' 1b4dd67f29cb1962.automaticDestinations - ms' seem to be for the word, and I think that ' 3d961d1bb3da929c.automaticDestinations - ms' are to Excel. I have them I deleted, I moved it out of the folder, I renamed them, I sang for them, etc. etc. and every time it did not work.
This seems to be a really popular solution that works for most of the time everybody... it does not work for me!
I've also been to '% ' AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations and deleted everything from there.
    3. I checked that related to open different file extensions in Excel and Word programs are associated with Excel and Word. Everything seems to be strong in that Department.
I use Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and fight with versions of Word and Excel 2010!
Then... I don't think anyone has any other ideas?
    Thank you in advance!

I emptied two recent used folders but did not work.   Then I fixed my office installation to add/remove programs in the control panel and that did the trick.  I have office 2007 and 2010 installed, but make sure that I only use 2010.  Will probably uninstall 2007.

  • If Windows Mail does not have the e-mails & files?

Hi all, have had to replace the laptop but we need to get the emails & files from old PC.  Anyone know where they could be held?  Have the contacts OK but need to email real if possible.

    Thank you

[Original title: where WML holds emails & files?]

    Hi Ron!

    The normal way is:
    Mail C:\Users\[username]/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows

To view it you must show hidden files. Do you it like this:

    • Open a Windows Explorer window.

      • Select my computer in the Start menu, for example.
    • Select Tools | ... Folder options in the menu.
      • On Windows 7, you may need to hold down the Alt key to display the menu.
    • Go to the view tab.
    • Make sure that display drives, folders and hidden files or show the hidden files and folders is selected under hidden files and folders.
      • Alternatively, you can remove the check mark from Hide protected files (recommended) operating system. To access hidden areas of the messaging applications, is usually not necessary. Protected system files are better left unseen.
    • Click OK.

    See you soon

  • Windows XP two entries in the start menu. I followed the program from one to the other files?

More of a problem of operating systems XP and how to bind the program files for the new version

My system was not properly initialize (continulally reseting) to repair the fault that I had to make a form of repair of the windows installation CD. I now have version 2 of the windows XP operating system (host1 and windows 2) on my computer. Windows 2 is the version that works (constantly does not restart) ok, but all my program files, documents, etc. are still linked to the old version (windows 1) and therefore do not apear in the start menu. Is it possible to have these appear in the windows start menu 2, so I don't need to reload all my programs and also allow me to remove this old version that has been corrupted and not lose my files and applications. Thanks in advance.

    Bill

    Hi Bill,

It seems that you have reinstalled Windows XP on a different partition. In this case, you will not be able to use the installer on another.

You will need to reinstall all the programs on the new facility and also, redo the settings.

You can follow the below mentioned article to remove the invalid entry in the start menu.

How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP

  • Why they provide a compression of the start menu?

I would really like to know this because I love the way the start menu works on Windows XP.
Since Windows Vista, and now with Windows 7, when I go to "all programs" all my program items are listed in a 1 list under each other and considered as nested when I click on a folder. I always have a certain programs installed that use the start menu and it really clutters the list. Of course, everything is sorted, but which is not what I mean. I would like to see "all programs" fold on display again as the classic Start menu or how it worked in Windows XP. It worked simple and effective. Now I need to find a great list of applications, I installed and sometimes to open a file that makes the list even longer.

Now I use 3rd party applications which changes the start menu to do these things, but these programs are often not free and when they do they have other problems that I won't discuss here for obvious reasons. ;)

So my question is simple: is it still re-create they way manipulated XP style 'all programs' expansion? As it is now it greatly reduced my experience with Windows. All the guys at the office think also that it is quite a problem.

I hope that I have explained the situation well otherwise I try to answer your questions. :)

    Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot restore my laptop-"Repair my computer" not appearing is not in the start menu

Once or twice in the past had to get my phone and it was an easy process thanks to the construction recovery option (computer repair) in the start menu (when you press F8 on the Toshiba screen), but now when I press F8 during the Toshiba screen and go to the boot options, there is no option to fix my computer. Fix my computer is usually the first option, but the first option is now "Start Windows in safe mode". Fix my computer disappeared! :(

I think that the cause of my problem is that I started my laptop using my friend's windows startup disk when my computer would not start a month back. In fact, he got my laptop going again, but after starting my laptop, he told me that there is a problem with the start and he asked if I would like to repair and restart, I did. In addition, the windows startup disk, I used to start my laptop computer is a 64-bit version and my laptop has a 32-bit operating system. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Could someone please help me by letting me know if there is anything I can do to get "Repair my computer" back. It is handy recover my computer when I want to just go back and get my laptop clocked in so it is better again.

    Short answer:
There is nothing you can do about it except to include adjustments to plant again. I'm sorry. :(

  • Intel 945 Windows 7, does not have the 32-bit games that require Direct3D.

OK, so I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

After that I installed Windows 7, games ran fine. Everything was great. I decided to update my graphic drivers a few weeks ago to see if I could get better performance, and now nothing works.

I installed the 15.12.75.4.64.1930 (8.15.10.1930) driver for 64-bit. Since then when I try and play a game, I get a message saying that Direct3d is not available. When I run dxdiag, Direct3d is not enabled. If I run the 64-bit DXDiag, it is said that direct 3D is activated.

Help, please. I tried to uninstall the drivers, but then I just get the Stndard VGA graphics driver and I can't do anything.

It is also it seems to have an impact on flash applications in IE8. When I launch IE8 (32-bit or 64-bit) anything with flash top constantly stutters and flashes several times making it unusable.

    Hi AnanymousDan,

Since you are facing this problem after the update the display drivers, I suggest you revert to the previous version of display drivers and check if that helps you solve the problem. To restore the drivers, follow these steps:

    1. open Device Manager. To do this, click on start to reduce this includes this im, type Device Manager in the Start Search box, and then click Device Manager in the programs list.

    2. If you updated the device driver, right-click on the device in Device Manager, click Properties, and then click back to the previous version on the driver tab.

If the steps above do not help, you try to perform a system restore on your computer on the date when it was working fine and check if that helps you solve the problem.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem and then click Next, click Finish.

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Access the link below to learn more about how to repair the operating system and how to restore the configuration of the operating system to a previous point in time in Windows:

  • Windows 7 does not have the activation key - has WORKED in THE PAST

A year or two ago, I upgraded my computer from Vista to Windows 7. I bought Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade online. The activation key worked exactly as it is supposed to. A few months back, I had a hard drive crash. I had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Vista then install Windows 7. Once more, everything works great. Key agreed without any problem. Then about a week and a half, I did an upgrade to my computer. New motherboard, CPU and power supply. I installed Vista on another hard disk, loaded the drivers of the new motherboard and CPU, then installed Windows 7. The activation key has been accepted (the same I use all along) and had no problems until tonight. I'm going to be out of town for the weekend, start and I get a window saying that my version of Windows is not registered and enter the activation key. This time IT would BE NPOT ACCEPT THE KEY what is CAME WITH MY INSTALLER DISK. 3 TIMES. What gives? # ! ? The dey was good a week ago and now it isn't? What has changed while I was out of town and my computer was closed. This looks like a problem with Microsovt and Windows 7. How to get Windows 7 activated as if it was 4 days ago?

Have you tried to restart by phone?

    Activate Windows 7 manually:
    1. click on start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    2. press enter on your keyboard

    3. Select your country.
    4. Select the telephone activation option and brace yourself for a real person.
