Will be my CPU bottleneck a GeForce GT 640?

I plan on upgrading to a Geforce GT 640, as the main video card of my computer for gaming, but I still don't know if my processor is strong enough for the job. I have an Intel Pentium G630 @ 2.7 ghz, 6 GB of ram and a 1.5 TB hard drive.

Yes, a GT640 would certainly improve more Intel HD1000 and a great help to the gameplay.

Whether you use the GT640 (1 GB) or the GTX750, it is desirable that your power of 300W for a good quality

model with minimum 20Amps (about 240W), or more information on the + 12 rail.

As a very general comparison between these gpu.

Scores of the pass mark:

HD4000 = 465 (found no numbers for the HD1000).

GT640 = 1287

750ti GTX = 3660 - (GTX = 750 would probably close the same score, if she had 2 GB of VRAM,

"but I don't see not listed).

-GTA4 is reputed to be a bad console on the PC port. It of an intense game of cpu and can use just

beyond 1 GB of VRAM, for example, if the settings are all on max.

Note that it is also possible for a game to add to the CPU load, if the gpu is not held.

The aliasing is pretty bad in GTA4, but allowing the FXAA in Nvidia Control Panel is a big help.

    Thank you very much, Harry.

The only thing THAT AE really use the GPU is obsolete ray-traced rendering engine. Very few people use the ray-traced rendering engine. I wouldn't worry about this at all.

More info here: features GPU (CUDA, OpenGL) in After Effects and here: http://motionworks.net/after-effects-3d-future/

Now, some third-party plugins (like element, 3D Invigorator, transmutation, etc..) Make use of the GPU, but they will work with the AMD cards and have nothing to do with this warning of CUDA, you want to come. Check that the requirements for all you plan to buy.

You can confidently check the option do not show this message.

  • Change tracking (CTK) block is supported for this virtual machine, but was refused. This will increase the CPU proxy and consumption of IOP.

I have problems with a client of VMware image-level in an EMC Avamar backup.  So far, we have not been able to find information about this message in the backup log file.  It is originally the backup to take a very long period of time (on average 10-11 hours).

2014-02-28 14:20:57 avvcbimage < 14681 > Info: change tracking (CTK) block is supported for this virtual machine, but was refused. This will increase the CPU proxy and consumption of IOP.

We cannot determine why CBT is "denied".  Has anyone here run across this issue before or seen any other type of backup VMware image have denied CBT?

Everything I checked watch that CBT is successfully activated since the file vmx for the customer to the Avamar config.

ESXi host is Enterprise Plus 4.1.0 260247

After spending some time on this issue, the ultimate resolution withdrew the Avamar vm and then add it again.  After that, CBT began to work properly.  It seems that there is a parameter that has been 'stuck' pertaining to this virtual machine that wasn't behaving properly.

  • Phoenix: geforce gt 640

I have a Phoenix office (i7-4770 CPU @ 3.4 GHZ, 16 GB RAM) with video card GeForce GT 640 installed at the factory.  My main monitor is an HP 2310 m connected via DVI - D.

I would like to reuse an old monitor VGA (HP 2009 m) as the second screen.  The card doesn't have any VGA connector.

When I replace the monitors (using a DVI - D VGA adapter) everything works.

When I use the m 2009 as the second monitor (using a HDMI VGA adapter), not of works.  Turns off the 2310 m on conector of DVI - D and the m in 2009 on the HDMI connector (via a VGA-HDMI adapter) signals a resolution problem and a video cable problem.  Disconnect the 2009 m restores the functioning of the 2310 m.  I have a VGA monitor still more old that does the same thing.  I have, of course, that the problem is not with the VGA screens.

Solutions possible and adivce greatly appreciated.

    Rex Avery

    Hi Rex,

DVI - D is strictly digital and a VGA adapter right is not going to work. Review this information. Describe the HP OEM NVIDIA 640 video output ports, or post a photo of the video output ports.  The 640 GT should have following video output ports: DVI - I, VGA and HDMI.

You must use a native DVI cable to connect the HP 2009 m that supports the DVD-D.

HP 2310 m has video input HDMI, DVI - D and VGA ports.  Use a native HDMI cable.

If you notice, I've recommended using cables DVI and HDMI native, who will produce the best quality for your monitors.

Refer to the HP information below.

  • MSI NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 4 GB memory DDR3 128 bit on my desk p7 - 1380t

I am looking for a new graphics card that will not require a new power supply and I was wondering if it would work with my computer. I don't have any top of the line stuff and nothing too expensive either

    MSI NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 4 GB 128 - Bit DDR3

A - diddy, welcome to the forum.

If it's the video card you want to buy, I do not think that it will work with the existing 300W PSU.  It has an additional power connector which means that it requires more than the 75W provided by PCIe slot to work properly.  The specs say that it consumes only 45W.  I don't know why they have an extra power connector.  Your current diet doesn't have the necessary cable to the connector.

I suggest you call the after-sales Service of the manufacturer to find out the requirements are correct.

  • Intel HD integrated graphics will play the games requiring a GeForce 9800 GTX + or ATI Radeon HD 4870 +?

    Hello

A year ago I bought a Dell Inspiron 660 PC provided with a map "integrated Intel HD Graphics.

I am now looking to download a game on Steam, and I see that it requires graphics card GeForce 9800 GTX + or ATI Radeon HD 4870 +.

How can I determine if the integrated card of my PC will work to play this game?

    Thanks in advance!

    Luis

It won't.  You will need to match the performance of the 9800 GTX or HD 4870 7750 HD low profile video card.  Only cards from low profile with low profile brackets will be suitable to the 660 s.  Here's an example.  660 s comes only with a 220 Watt power supply.  The game you want to download probably doesn't need these cards but recommended for optimal performance.  Therefore, you can get something a little less like the HD 6670 HERE.

  • How will I know if my gtx GeForce 690 works well?

    Hello

    Software lag even after previews.

    This is my setup:

    -64 GB ram 1 ghz 600

-3 x SSD (1 for Win8, one for the preview, one for storage)

In my opinion, they don't serve well.

    Why? Indicating that you?

In addition the parameters of preferences for the use... I don't think that there are optimizations for your GPU.

    GDay all.

Just curious on 2 updates. I'm looking to display a touchscreen is available or if the GPU is extensible. I noticed that my use of Ram/CPU is not fully used when I play but my GPU's.
Play games such as cs (Counterstrike Global Offense), League of rust and rockets. They work not too bad, but I would have preferred a better rate.

I am currently using a Dell Laptop Inspiron 15 "5000 Series.

    Data sheet:

    -6500U 2.5 Ghz, 2.6 Ghz turbo i7

-8 GB Ram (DDR3 I think, speed im not sure)

    -R5 M335

    -10 64-Bit Windows

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that the model is not too sure, for some reason a 5559 however it doenst it operating on the box, etc...
    However, I know the NPP.

    Hey, is unsoldering an option?

Regarding the screen, wooo, that is a lot haha, does not count too.

Hi, (A) I have a Dell Inspiron Intel Core i3-3240 3.4 GHZ 660. I was wondering if an EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Superclocked 1 GB GDDR5 would go with my CPU. I have a pretty computer savy guy who I am friends with who says that's fine but I wanted to check to make sure that this map is not my CPU bottleneck. The 300w power supply should be sufficient.

  • Discover the bottleneck

    Hello

I just installed a PC brand new with:

    ASRock X99M Extreme4

    Intel Core i7 - 5930 k

SSD 128 GB for the OS

    2 x 2 TB Seagate SSHD (in RAID 0)

    16 GB DDR4 Crucial 3000MHz

    Gigabyte GTX 6 GB 980ti

Just all installed and realized the rendering is only twice as fast as on my 2.8 GHz I7 MacBook Pro. The result is slower than I expected.

Any recommendations for tweaking? Or y at - it a tool that allows me to discover the hardware bottleneck?

    concerning

    Jürgen

Yes... RJL is correct... you have too little memory system AND the readers who hold your video files are holding your performance. You can add a PCI DSS as a Samsung SM 951, Intel 750 to place your active media, files, previews and all cache files. The largest, runs drives then can be used as an archive and for backup, while SSD PCI would treat your records ASSETS used in publishing... all run at a speed MUCH faster than 1.5 GB per second or MORE and maybe NO latency "two-way" interface, if you have a... traditional NVME SATA SSD model nature can not read and write at the same time... the SATA interface is "half duplex" allowing one type of operation at a time.

You can test your current computer on the PPBM8.com site, managed by Bill Gehrke here on this forum, using its test for the edition with the body. Then, re-test after adding memory (64 GB would be great... Much better than the current 32 GB) and a faster Media Player. Your CPU is made to OVERCLOCK... the clock speed of the CPU is KING by providing for an increase in the performance... ENJOY this one!

You can study many several machines on this site test results and by downloading the free "Speccy" Piriform, you can study the details of their material, as well as your own. many run their Haswell E CPUs to 4.5 Ghz!

Many users of SSD at low prices for their OS readers do not get good results... Series Samsung 850 Pro and the cheapest MX200 Crucial are recommended... models "EVO", are NOT. Some SSDS are slower at the level of 128 GB and see the best performance starting at 256GB and more... you can check Anand Tech customers (or similar), see your, and then test your. The many small read and written by Windows page on your 'C' drive file operations can hinder performance if you use lower SSD for your boot drive. Disable 'indexing' on all drives for better performance. Also, make sure that your "power" settings are ALL set 'Maximum Performance' or Windows will THROTTLE your CPU and GPU even to impede performance.

In addition, be aware that the CURRENT of PPro CCloud version is better and improved over previous versions such as CS6 in the treatment of 4 K and other codecs. These new versions have the memory usage improved for better performance and ELIMINATED a common problem in editing. MOV files of Canon cameras allowing to set up a 32-bit operation that would PARALYSE the 64-bit body!

    Good luck!!

  • Improvement of the GPU: GeForce GTX 770 with SLI or Nvidia Quadro K5000 2 cards?

Hello, I'll start working with video files in raw format of 4 k (Premiere, After Effects, SpeedGrade, S.redgiant plug-ings). Now, I have a graphics GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 770, but told me that video game cards GeFroce limited fukntsional when working with video in first. Is this really so? If I change my card Nvidia Quadro K5000 that presents similar characteristics, will I get additional features working in Adobe (Premiere, After Effect, SpeesGrade) programs? Does make sense in such a substitution? Or is it better to buy a second GTX 770 and put in SLI? Adobe, which will support?

No, the Geforce cards have a limitation with 4K media and GPU acceleration. The GPU CUDA acceleration IE is not specific to Geforce or Quadro. The specifications of the cards decide the performance. The specifications of the Geforce are much more important than the K5000 Quadro if you get the 780Ti or the Titan Black Edition. The two cards are cheaper. The only advantage that the Quadro card has in what concerns Adobe is the option to output 10-bit color for previewing as Adobe Open GL for the API. However, you can get a Blackmagic 4 K card to studio with a Titan Black edition and still spend less money than the K5000 while having much better performance. I have personally run an E5 - 2697 V2 12 Core Xeon with 4 GB 770GTX card and I play 4K r3d back at half resolution easily right now. Full resolution for previewing with 4K red is simply not possible through any software other than Redcine X Pro right now until the demosaicing of GPU acceleration is available. BTW, I would say 1 Titan Black edition of 2 x 770GTX cards. In all of the GPU scaling only works on the rendering now. When the debayer to GPU acceleration is available, then adding that a 2nd map of Titan would be much better than having 2 x 770GTX cards.

SLI and the GPU acceleration are 2 different technologies. SLI is scaling of drawing to the screen through more than 1 video card. The GPU acceleration is a module of programming that are sending computations to the GPU for processing that were normally handled by the player through the CPU. Acceleration GPU don't require or even use SLI for evolving on GPU. It's successful and at the request of the application.

    Hi all

I would like to know if it is technically possible to upgrade my new alienware 17 (i7 4800 and gtx 770 m) with a view to graphics card like gtx 780 m and a microprocessor quick as processor 6 or even 8 if these are forthcoming. The motherboard will support the cpu and the gpu? And wil cooling well then?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

    PFYAAA

    PFYAAA,

    The motherboard supports this upgrade.
    * No. we do not support the kernel following Dell OEM 4 processors:
    C8HRG i7-4930MX 3.00 GHz
    HDX3D i7-4900MQ 2.80 GHz
    M 036 4 i7-4800MQ 2.70 GHz
    86XWW i7-4700MQ 2.40 GHz

the cooling system which would allow?
    * Because we never test them, we do not know.

    with a higher graphics card?
    * You could pass to the GTX780m of the Dell OEM.
2K0KW Nvidia GeForce GTX780m N14E - GTX 4 GB of GDDR5 memory with support, thermal pad
    YP26V GTX780m GPU thermal Module right 100w

and even a core 6 is already available in configuration alienwares 18.
    * Where do you see that? I have seen that the AW17 and the AW18 offer the same 4 core CPU?

  • 35.0 Firefox uses 100% cpu on Mac Yosemite 10.10.1 then either breaks or needs force quit.

I had this problem since installing Yosemite and using 34.0.5. I upgraded yesterday to 35.0 but still the same problem. Firefox will work happily for a while and then all of a sudden will use 100% cpu. I disabled all extensions and plug-ins and that made no difference. If I use Java (8-25), it will usually make it crash but not always.

To make things worse, the accident report appears in Greek (which is considered in another question already).

  • Help the update driver GeForce 640 M

    Hello

I use an iMac (21.5 inch, at the end of 2012) and I have a question for the graphics card, an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 M 512 MB.

For awhile now this iMac is has been rotating more slowly than anticipated, especially with some games. I regularly install software updates, but I was wondering what I need to also install the updates for the graphics card too? After reviewing the NVIDIA site it seems that drivers are available since June this year. However, it does not list any Mac OS among the available download types. There are different versions of windows, 32-bit Linux, 32-bit ARM and Linux 64-bit linux.

So I let him or should I download an NVIDIA driver? If so, which?

    Thank you!
