Will the virtual machines in the space are automatically deleted when the protected group are removed

Hi friends,

Will the virtual machines in the space are automatically deleted when the protected group are removed?

Thank you.

Hello

When you choose to delete the Protection Group, first virtual machines are unprotected and placeholders are deleted.

  • Objects of the Virtual Machine under health Badges are unknown.

    Hi all

VCOPs, execution 5.8 build 1537842 licensed as advanced fairly new.  I've been running for about a month now and learn what I can in the time.  I noticed that my health is linked badges are a great unknown subset of virtual machines.  I have not found too much more precisely related made in me in the right direction so far.  I've attached a screen as well.  I didn't know if it was a global problem vCOPs or if it was related to the individual virtual machine, or even my setup.  This does not affect the heat in other badges just health cards and its minor insignia.

    Thank you!

Hi all - I wanted to give you guys an update that we tried something that seemed to work.  If I didn't initially spot checked the permissions in the view hosts and clusters that I had not checked in the computers view virtual and models.  I know that in the past for other permission problems we saw where subsets of VMS in the computers view virtual and models would lose some of their permissions, and I think that's the case here.

I re applied permissions of vcops at the level of the vCenter virtual machine and view of models for the 1 vCenter which affected VM resided and as soon as the authorization has been applied the unknown servers became again.

Things seem to be back to normal now.  I end by restarting the VAPP or having to draw cards.

  • Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) include SP1 is the Virtual Machine for Java (MSJVM) installed on this and future Service Packs Microsoft remove it?

While the installation of Microsoft DirectX 9.0 c on my Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) operating system (not sure if the 2002 version in it's original state included SP1), EULA (EULA) provided the contract included a paragraph stating that "ONLY in regards to THE VIRTUAL MACHINE MICROSOFT FOR JAVA, YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED to INSTALL THIS OS COMPONENT ON A MACHINE THAT CONTAINS A ALREADY the VERSION OF THE MICROSOFT JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE". Assuming that the MSJVM was included with Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002), I advanced and accepted the EULA. I then downloaded and installed Windows XP SP2 and SP3, but wasn't sure whether SP2 and SP3 removed the MSJVM in any point. However, research on the question, I discovered the site "FAQ of Transition MSJVM" (updated May 7, 2004), who answered the question: ' if I install Windows XP SP1a or later, it will remove my current MSJVM? " with "No, the operating system upgrade will not remove a MSJVM existing on the computer" (http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/en/us/interoperability/java/faq.aspx). However, I can't find any instance of it on my computer.

    So my questions are:

    1. Windows XP Home (Version 2002) Edition include SP1?
    2. The MSJVM is installed on this version?
    3. SP2 or SP3 removes the MSJVM in any point to?

  • Gwetting a list of all virtual machines and used space

I apologize for my very basic question.

I need to make a file (better if an Excel file) with a list of all virtual machines in a simple 5.x vSphere infrastructure including 2 VMare ESXi 5.x servers and the disk space used (allocated, used) of each virtual computer.

The easiest way seems to list the virtual machines from the vSphere client and export the list as a .xls file.

It seems simple, but when I look at the file I see a lot of missing VMs or a large number of missing values for several virtual machines (just the Runts).

Is this a problem with my vSphere client?

I tried to create a PowerCli script using the "Get - VM|" Select-object Name"command, but my limited skills will let me extract the value of the used space.»

Can someone please provide a sample of PowerCli I can just copy and use?

Is there another way to get the information I need?

    Concerning

    Marius

    .

Not knowing that if you have configured a cluster or just stand-alone hosts, here is one simple line...

    Get-VMHost-name | get - vm | select name, usedspaceGB

From there, you can make formatting, get total usage etc.

    Hello world

Add the protected site of vCenter VM in the protection with your other VMS protected group? It is advisable to do so? Thank you!

You must include ONLY the virtual machines that you want protected on the lun. These must be in one or more Protection groups. All other VMS must be on different LUNS.

  • Can't access file system host (MAC) shared in VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Client when wanting to create a VMware image (Windows 7 in Parallels virtual machine running on a MAC) for the option of machine Powered On.

File HOST (Mac) system is currently shared in the Parallels virtual machine and is accessible through Windows Explorer and works correctly in the Virtual Machine environment, however, after installing vCenter Converter application on the Windows virtual machine these shared folders are not accessible from the conversion tool in the selection of the target destination of the file VMware (s). I can't select an existing folder on drive "C:" to write the image so that there is not enough space available for the VMware image and it must be written in a different file system, while the image is being created.

Anyone know a way around it to show the target to write the image on the host (MAC OS) file system or is it a bug?

Thanks for the reply.  It seems that the maps are not displayed if they were created as actions by the hosts.  When I created a mapping directly from Windows, then this mapping appeared and the conversion worked fine.

  • IP address on the virtual machine windows endangered endangered after the importation of the data store.

I'm gaving a problem with the IP on windows vm disappear after having mounted the snapshot to restore. Here's what I do.

Mount making LUNS to the esx host area

I have eyebrows outside the data store to find the vm I want to right click and click Import the vmx file.

Imports of the virtual machine and when I start it up I wonder if I've moved or copied the VM. I have tried both moved and copy but when I connect to the virtual machine is missing all its IP info.

Any way to avoid the losting vm sound IP info when I import to the host from a LUN outlet?

    Hello

Installs on the forum of the Virtual Machine and the guest operating system.

The MAC of a virtual computer is based on the UUID/name of the virtual machine so if you are not using a static MAC (one that recognizes VMware) and it will change the IP address might also change if you are using DHCP. So I suggest to use a static MAC in the VM configuration.

Another way is to set up the guest operating system in the virtual machine with a static IP address instead of a DHCP function.

But if you are unable to remove the virtual machine or the copy in the virtual machine, there may be something locking these files would be an another running virtual machine. If you need to find this VM and kill him. In this case, "vmware-cmd - L" and 'vmware-cmd - l' host in question can be useful to find where the 'hidden' VM is running.  Ultimately you can use ' vm-support - x "to find a list of the virtual machines running by how the hypervisor lists. Then use 'vm-support - Z' to suspend the offending virtual machine that should unlock everything.

Yes, the use of these commands is command line.

However, before using these commands determine if you can find the place where life VM incriminated.

  • Attempt vSwitch configuration change and now the ESXi host and virtual machines offline

So I have no doubt, I have myself to blame for this one. I was trying to change my vSwitch from 100 Mbps to 1000 Mbps when an 'operation timed' error out jumps-to the top and my vCenter Server lost connection with my ESXi host. I tried to restart the host manually, but that did not help. The host is not the ping requests and all the virtual machines on that host are offline; None of them vMotion off to my other ESX Server.

I tried to reconnect the host computer in vCenter, but it is obviously does not connect because it can't ping it. I logged the ESXi console and all the network settings appear to be correct. I'm used to connect to the ESX console where you can execute commands, but it's my first ESXi host, so I don't know what I can do.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you had your management port and VMs on different vSwitches / NIC leave on framework would eliminate a false positive. As in your case the management port reportedly follows the cable / about speed, but the virtual machine network would be intact (and I'm assuming that your storage space as well).  In this case the VMs system would have worked very well even if the management port did not work.

  • Name of the Virtual Machine in full-screen

    Hello

Is there a way to display the name of the Virtual Machine when you have it in full screen. The problem is that if you have multiple Virtual Machines open and they are full screen and off you self only a black screen and Don t know you one you have active. I would like to see the name of the VM on the screen as we see a screen capture if you pause the virtual machine.

    nolsson wrote:

Do you mean that you force different Virtual Machines in different spaces? Like you always have Windows 7 into space 2 and Linux in 3 space.

Yes, but I wouldn't use the word 'strength', I assign the VM space when running.  I open Fusion and then VMS, I use like XP, Ubuntu and I move the virtual machines to the spaces that I want them and I keep not merge.  I can suspend VMs need to free up RAM, but otherwise merge is left running.

  • Cannot create a virtual machine with a vmdk file copied from another location, please find the attached error

I copied a file from one place vmdk and try to make a new virtual machine with this vmdk file. But when I turn on after the creation of vm error is coming. Error in the text and the image below

This error message generally if the hard files have been copied hosted as VMware Workstation product, which uses a format of sparse file that is not supported on an ESXi host. Instead of the hard copy, you can use VMware Converter, or - if you prefer - you can convert the hard using vmware-vdiskmanager (before transfer) or vmkfstools (after downloading). I deal to use vmkfstools you will need to load the mutliextent module (see for example "Clone or migration operations involving virtual discs non-VMFS on ESXi fail with an error" vSphere 5.1 Release Notes)

  • ZPrint accident of process before starting the virtual machine

I see the following messages in system.log everytime my Windows VM starts. These accidents zprint apparently never happened before today. There is no previous accident for zprint report. The messages below always repeat 3 times before other messages on VM, commissioning.

09/02/15 21:20:33... Report of incidents ReportCrash [7538] advice for zprint processes [7537]

    09/02/15 21:20:33... ReportCrash [7538] error saved crashreport to /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/zprint_2015-02-09-212033_...crash using uid: gid 0: 0, euid: egid 0: 0

Extract from the report of crash:

    Exception type: EXC_ARITHMETIC (SIGFPE)

Exception codes: EXC_I386_DIV (division by zero)

Why the merger issues the command zprint? If she has always done so before, why is zprint now blocking?

(If I run the terminal zprint command without specifying the name of the area it blocks the same way.)

    Anyone have any ideas?

Some things that I did today that might be important:

My Mac Pro locked up while I was running Firefox (open Youtube and Yahoo pages).  I pushed the power button / stop. The virtual Windows machine was running at the time.

After restarting the Mac Pro, when I tried to start the virtual machine, I got the message: "... vmdk has one or more internal errors that cannot be repaired. The only option is to restore from a backup copy of this disk... »

So I renamed the corrupt VM bundle, then drag-and - drop copied all of the virtual machine to a backup volume.

When I started the virtual machine restored, I noticed the crash zprint above messages.

    Thank you!

    OS X 10.5.8, Fusion 3.1.4

Fusion uses zprint to internal information of the kernel which are very difficult to obtain by other means.

Given how long it has been since OS X 10.5.8 or Fusion 3.1.4 were changed, either something has been corrupted or something has changed in the system environment for that to happen early.  I can't find any other references to zprint triggering a SIGFPE anywhere else on the Internet...

If you do not already done, I highly recommend running disk utility and check (and possibly repair) the disks of your host before doing anything else.

    See you soon,.

  • Placeholder Virtual Hardware Version different from the virtual machine active

    Hi all

This is my first post to the community, so please be nice :-)

I'm looking for after an ESXi U2 with MRS 5.5 5.1 environment and I have a problem I hope you can help me with?

After an update of the all virtual V7 and V8 to V9 material throughout the environment recently, I noticed that is not reflected in the placeholder SRM on those virtual machines information placeholder. I hope it's just an aesthetic issue, but I don't want to get into a situation of DR and find that it is a question then (or it is systematic of a bigger problem!). I know I can do a test failure to confirm, but I'm not in that position at the moment as the company policy says I can only do the test during a maintenance window that is not for a while...

I thought that the easiest option would be to "Recreate a Placeholder" in [groups] but this is grayed out on (which I suppose is because the protection status is "OK")... Protection status gives me some comfort, but this gap in information gives me a bad feeling...

Your help and your advice would be appreciated!

    Crispy

Hi crispy, welcome in the community :-)

What happens if you go to the Protection Group, select a virtual machine, right-click and remove Protection, and then set it up again?

These procedures will remove the placeholder VM and recreate without doubt using new hardware version... but do not forget that the ESXi host at the target site must be compatible with the new version of hardware.
