WIM files taking up the memory of the computer

I have a HUGE amount of WIM files taking up my space of memory in the computer.

Is it safe to delete these files, and if not, what are the effects in this way?

Thank you

christhedev

These WIM may have been created when you eventually updated your system, usually backup files, somewhere along the line, but cannot say with certainty.  I recommend delete and save them to an external hard drive just in case the main C drive.  I don't think you'll see any bad effects.

I took Basic training courses so DIAdem Advanced and have been scripting for several months.  I am interested in how to include specific lines of code based on the computer.  Told me it would be similar to .ini in LabVIEW files, although I've never used myself .ini files.

    Hi Karen,.

What do you mean by "includes the lines of code?  Do you mean what happens when you run a command 'ScriptInclude()' or 'ScriptCmdAdd()' in a tiara VBScript?  Or do you mean that you want to run several lines as DIAdem begins, similar to 'ScriptStart() '?

What do you mean by "computer-based?  Do you mean you want to implement different batch files on different computers, but you are still using the same file (named) command on each target computer?  Or do you mean that you want to implement the same command on all target computers file, but you want different commands to run this file based on the computer on which you are.  In the latter case, how do you determine computer on which you are on - MAC address, logged in user name, or what?

  • Can I use a prev .reg file to restore the computer to this specific date

original title: use of Excessive Internet data

A couple of months my PC under Windows XP SP3 has started using more data through his internet connection.  I can monitor the use of total, but I am unable to determine the source of the request.  The PC wasn't in use since mid January until mid March 2012.  When I started the PC a few updates pending that allowed to settle there.  I remember correctly, is that a large part of the update associated with .NET Framework.

I have a .reg file backup of December 2011.  I can use it to return to the configuration running without losing mail, documents, spreadsheets, etc. ?

I need to solve this problem, since the additional use puts me on my 5 GB per month plan.

    Thank you

Edit: can I uninstall .NET Framework or Silverlight without making my system inoperable?  Before I replace the registry with an older version, I'd try something less dramatic.  My feeling is that this problem started at the time the .NET Framework updates have been made and Silverlight has been activated.

    Hi Windsor,

Files REG is the backup of your registry and restore your registry, you will not lose any what email, documents, spreadsheets, and etc., it will be only restore your registry files. Some of the requires.Net application Framework and most of the site requires Silverlight, if you uninstall both the .net Framework and Silverlight, it may ask you to install when you try to run applications through which it requires .net Framework and Silverlight. By uninstalling .net Framework and Silverlight, you will not face other problems.

  • Failure of a registry file - cannot restart the computer.

Hello. So first of all I wanted to say that I am not an expert, but I think I've had more than my share of problems with my computer. Problems not only to get a virus, but questions of crazy system that I have no idea how they occur, or really correct.

I have an Inspiron 1545, Vista service pack 2, 32-bit.

In any case, I have some of my favorites showed it to my sister and I had a bunch of tabs open and Internet Explore was not load the pages to the right, it has happened and I just restart and it works again. I thought that if I manually restarted the computer, IE would my session was interrupted and when I opened it again it would open all my tabs unless I have to go find them and open them myself. I know that you are not supposed to turn off manually when you can actually go and press restart technially menu, but I did anyway... Well apparently, it was a big mistake.

Now my computer does not restart properly. It gives me the option to restart normally, but when I hit, it indicates the green status bar briefly and then goes black and is sitting there, I did not leave very long sit, but I guess that it does not load. Then the other option is allocated to the repair of the system. He says "research issues" and "this may take a few minutes" and just, it scans and analysis, I have let it go a little over half an hour and it did nothing. I guess that he won't do anything if it does nothing in the first ten minutes. Then I hit Cancel and freezes the status on the scan and I manually restart and the same things happen. I press F8 and tried to go into safe mode and it loades among requirments system and then it's again once I didn't let it sit long, since I think that it won't work in all cases.

I went to the System Center restoration and tried again to repair the system and the same thing... nothing happens. I tried to use a restore point, and to a point that one reason is cited even if I just made a couple months ago. In any case, it is said that since I was in a State of limited system may not perform correctly, I would in a higher State, but I can't have one. It also gives rose the failure of a registry file error and then code them (0x8007045D).

I also tried to run the Pre Boot Assesment and he did the first part of the analysis (I don't have the rest) and it gave me this error - hard drive 0 (2000-0146)

I read a little on the way to try to solve this problem online. I think if I can boot into safe mode with command prompt, I can run diskcheck and maybe it will fix what's wrong, but I have not tried yet, I tell myself that it won't work because I can't with regular safe mode. I also read something about starting in the Vista disc, but I don't really know what that means.

My main fear is that I'll lose my stuff. I supported a few months ago, but I take a lot of pictures and I have not in the past months registered and they are very important to me. I'm afraid to lose. I don't know if it's something that I can fix it or if I should try a friend, or just take my computer somewhere.

I hope no one will offer you is a hard drive problems and suggest you get a new, becaue some time ago I had some weird problem I couldn't fix it under warranty, I had the hard drive replaced and it did not fix the issue and I am not under warranty any more.

So, can someone please help me? Thank you!

    Hello

You can repair the system from the installation disc. It will replace the corrupted Windows operating system files.

I suggest you to go through the steps mentioned in the link and the Coachman.

  • Dialog "Browse files" have not the computer node

The program I use displays this dialog box to allow the user to select the folder in which to move the files to. I would like to choose an external hard drive.  My computer does not appear in the dialog box, search for a folder either.  It was there before.  Now only records that I choose are those in my personal user folder.  Is there a way to add My Computer back to this selection dialog box?

    Thank you for your suggestions.

Solved! Apparently, if there are too many folders (and perhaps too many icons) on the desktop, the find folder dialog box can't handle everything and give up.  Clean the office and all the normal features returns to the dialog box, search for a folder.

    Hello

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities.

Until we start troubleshooting on this issue please provides us with additional information by answering a few questions below, this will help us better solutions to the problems.

    1. have there been recent changes to the computer before the show?

2 are you face any weird problem on the computer?

Please go ahead and follow the steps mentioned and later a update on the State of the question.

Method 1: Rof the United Nations [System File Checker] SFC scan on the computer that would be a search for system files corrupted on the computer and replace them.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Method 2: If the problem persists then try to perform a restore of the system:

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To run the system restore, you can see the following link.

  • Want to reinstall XP but the computer does not recognize the cd drive and does not allow for any installation.

Accidentally deleted some system files and now the computer won't allow me to install anything. Tried to install a new cd player to replace a corrupt, but it does not recognize drive. All the driver and OS install CD. Help.

    Fix missing files:

Try to run the checker system (CFS) files.  Press start, select run, type: SFC/scannow

SFC will ask your installation disc (which you must have if you are going to re - install), put it in the drive when requested.  Leave the SFC to replace all missing or corrupt files.

    To resolve the startup problem:

Check your BIOS Setup and make sure the optical drive is enabled and listed before the hard drive in the boot order.  When you start, there will be a message, "type any key to boot from the CD-ROM."  Type any key (execpt shift, shift caps lock, NumLock, etc) will cause the CD to be initialized in the installation program.  (I use the space bar, it's an easy target.)

In addition, it would be useful to know a few more things: 1) what edition and service pack level of Windows XP you are running?  (2) what is the model and manufacturer of the optical drive, please?
