Win 7 64 bit is the command line 32-bit or 64-bit?

Win 7 64 bit is the command line 32-bit or 64-bit?

Win 7 64 bit is the command line 32-bit or 64-bit?

Hello

There is a 32-bit and 64-bit version of the shell (cmd.exe) and is the same for some of the other main components of the system, such as the Publisher of the registry (regedit.exe).

That the one you use depends on how you start the shell. If you start the shell in one of the normal ways, for example by typing cmd.exe in the Run dialog box type cmd.exe in the start/search box, etc, then you would use the 64-bit version.

To start the 32-bit version of the shell, you must specify the path. For example from the Run dialog box, type C:\Windows\sysWOW64\cmd.exe or the same path in the start/search box.

If you often use the shell, it's a good idea to customize the 32-bit version which makes it easier to see that it is running. I changed the background color of the 32-bit version of a medium blue. In this way there is no doubt which I use.

It is also important to note that each command you use either version are tackling the same version of system files that are involved with this command. For example if you type regedit.exe in each version, you will get the same version of bits of the registry editor.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for using Windows 7

  • Unicode character on the command line

I have a folder that contains a non-ASCII character, "registered sign" (®), which can be typed in a Terminal by using the-r option.

It is U + 00AE, and as an 8-bit character, it is 174 decimal. I want to be able to enter this character on the command line without

typing Option, because I have to build a Terminal command using an application that

is not respectful of Unicode. So option-r helps me create a string that contains this character.

For example, in the Terminal, I made a folder in ~ with as its name in full (I typed a r while pressing the option key):

    > mkdir ~ /.

    I can list help

    > ls ~ /.

but I have to be able to do so * without using any modifier key * (as option).

I thought I could use something like (after cd ~)

    > ls \302\256

    or

    > ls \u00AE

    or

    > ls \xc2\xae

but I could not do the shell to interpret what I type as registered r symbol. Everything what I enter is interpreted

literally as individual characters rather that, for example, the \xC2 is considered a single character. I also tried different combinations

quotes as double the backslash, but I continue get "No such file or directory".

How can I represent this character on the command line without modifier keys? I'm on El Capitan, OS X 10.11.2, running bash 3.2.

Have you tried zsh instead of bash?

I think bash supports \u starting only 4.2

Search a bit, I found this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/195730

What you can try, is go to

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

in regedit and backup the registry key (read the regedit help file to understand how to use it, if you have not before).  Before you run all programs, you can try to merge this key and see if then when you start IE or OE, they start in offline mode.

The name of the value to the "GlobalUserOffline" and the value of 0 means online and 1 means offline.

See if it works.  If not, you may need to operate this HKEY_USERS that describes the article and then you need to find the appropriate SID, but then you can do as I suggest above for this key and it should work.

  • Create shortcuts with the command line switches

I have three versions of Word on my computer. (I know, I'm a masochist).

There are times when I want to run one of them in safe mode. Those who get me if I run winword.exe /a in the run window let you guess.

I know I can get it by including all the way, but it's a pain.

I would like to make a few shortcuts in Windows that would do this for me. However, I don't know how to add the command line switches. I used to be able to properties (similar to editing a .pif file) but it doesn't seem to be an option.

You * need to locate executable files and create each shortcut via right click on the executable file.  Shortcuts Microsoft Office may not be "real" classical shortcuts

Right click and change the shortcut.  In the 'Target' box, add at the end command line switch.

For example... I found the 64-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Word executable here:
    «"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD."» EXE ".

and created a shortcut on my desktop.  The "target", said:
    «"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD."» EXE ".

I added the / a that you pointed at the end, the target is now:

    «"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD."» "EXE" /a

In fact - the after typing all that above, I realized that there is a Microsoft Knowledgebase Article... Google worked and I do not use it.  Heh

You have another keyboard, say a connected USB, try? If this occurs only when you try to type, I was wondering if the keyboard is faulty and its operation to sort of the windows key?

If this is likely, you can try https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/216893 if you click on the toggle bits.

If not that, perhaps of possible malware? Can you go as far as to update your antivirus software and then run a full scan to see if it finds problems? When you say "able to do" whats happening?

  • CAP of the command line and the 8800

I have a terrible time this morning trying to release some software for the Blackberry 8800. In our generation, we have been calling the compiler of Cap 4.3.0 of the command line (which I always have loads of doubts) generating a cod file and unzip for OTA deployment. It worked ok for 8830 phones so far. Once we started to try to do the same thing for 8800 phones we hit a major roadblock. We started to experience random errors when loading our application on the device. (The problem is also reproduced in the AT & T 4.2.1 emulator.) Sometimes the application will work but only on a particular plu model Cingular blackberry where as our QA guy has a bit newer model phone. The application will also work if it is compiled using slightly different source code. The source code that causes a failure will run when compiled and loaded on the same device a build running with the other working source code. After attending the recent virtual conference, I learned that the compiler is not backward compatible. In other words, the CAP generated 4.3.0 cod files will not work on devices with an OS older than 4.3.0. My immediate reaction was to return to the version of the CAP to 4.2.0 and try again. I hit another block when I started having:

WARNING! : no entry point found
com.mypkg.MyMidlet: WARNING! : no definition not found [INFO] com.rim.resources.MyProjectRIMResources: error! : class: com.mypkg.MyMidlet has no members:

So, I upped the version 4.2.1 retries and still got the error. Compiler error goes away with the 4.3.0 CAP but I'm not confident to go into production by using this compiler and targeting the older operating system. I use the same exact command line parameters in both cases. (I pass the flag - midelt and MyMidlet has a public ctor). Can someone tell me what has changed between 4.2.0 and 4.3.0. Y at - it another option or another flag that I have to give. Research on the error, suggests that the old compiler assumes a CLDC application instead of a Midlet. Could someone also explain if there is a problem to start the 4.3.0 SignatureTool.jar against the binaries generated by older Cap (if ever make us it work), targeting older OS 4.2.1? I am desperately looking for answers... Thanks in advance!

  • AfterFX.exe always returns 1 on the command line

I'm trying to script AfterFX.exe to stuff of a command line process, apparently like many people who use this interface.

I found that AfterFX.exe (CC version at least) always returns 1 at the command prompt if the shell wait so he could get out. I would like to use error codes to indicate success or failure, but apparently, despite documentation (after effects Scripting Guide) telling me to value exitCode however, I wish... 1 is the return value. Even if exitCode is zero.

Directly immediately AfterFX.exe running from the Shell returns so the return code is not useful. If you start with start/wait (indefinite display i.e. start/wait "dummy" "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe after effects CC\Support Files\AfterFX.exe" r - c:\path\to\my.jsx - noui) then the shell does not come until the application is made. You get this same behavior without the start/wait stuff if AFx is managed via the batch file (which is how I use it). Therefore, the return code is unnecessary.

Does this happen for others, it is in its State (i.e., run that after Effects is just a mistake, lol), or...?

    In addition,

    > start "dummy" / / wait "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe after effects CC\Support Files\AfterFX.exe" s '' alert ("Hello")'; app.exitCode = 88' - display undefined noui

    > echo %errorlevel%

    1

The existence of display undefined-noui doesn't seem to affect the return code. The ILO "dummy" on the command line is a requirement of departure when launching applications with arguments (it's a bit esoteric, but it must be there).

Yes, I found that you must use AfterFX.com instead of AfterFX.exe. I also remember that it is documented in the documentation of the extension Script somewhere; not really yelled that the examples all use AfterFX.com.

  • VMWare Player startup with the command line command does not work!

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the community and it will probably show. So, I say sorry in advance for the flaws, I'll do. Since I am of German native language I need to translate it into English. So, I could use special terms wrong, but I'll certainly try to avoid this. Just keep in mind. And now my question:

I was running VMware Player 3.0 with VMware Tools installed and VMware VIX 1.8.0 installed on a host of Win7 Ultimate 64-bit. The Useraccount on the host has administrator rights. Guest operating system is WinXP SP3. Since I need two softwares of different recording/Dictation on my workstation and I could only one of them simultaneously open (which is very uncomfortable, when you need to change frequently), because those two were always challenging who got to use the microphone, I installed a second microphone (that only the application for the two contest) and then created a virtual machine to run the software second with one of the two microphones connected only to the prompt. (Directly/comfortably) to start the second software I created a. LNK shortcut file (and attached to the startmenu) who run the command

    Departure of player "C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware" t "C:\Users\USERPROFILE\Eigene virtual Computer\Recorder Windows XP Pro Windows XP Pro SP3.vmx VM SP3\Recorder VM.

with the recorder VM "VM Windows XP Pro SP3" opening the second software automatically (autostart).

This worked well, until I updated my VMware Player to 3.0.1. Since the update however, my shortcut file simply is unable to start the virtual machine. However, starting the virtual machine of VMWare Player normal window still works. By running the command mentioned above constitute the command line prompt, I got the information, this vmrun.exe could not connect to the host, due to an error, the specified version is not found, which probably means that the VMware Player.

    P:\ & gt; "" Player t C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware VIX\vmrun.exe "start"C:\Use ".

virtual rs\USERPROFILE\Eigene Computer\Recorder VM Windows XP Pro SP3\Record

ER VM Windows XP Pro SP3.vmx"

Unable to connect to the host.

Error: The specified version is not found

    P:\ & gt;

I tried the VMware VIX update (from 1.8.0 to 1.8.1) without success. The errormessage even remains.

The three relevant paths for VMware Player, VMware Vix and the VM are spezified in the systemvariable path as follows:

    % SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\; "" C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware VIX ". "" C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware Player. " "' Virtual C:\Users\USERPROFILE\Eigene computer; C:\Program Files (x 86) \QuickTime\QTSystem\

    Today suddenly wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance to one that solves the Enigma.
