Win 7 64 partitioned OS recognizes DVD but Vista 32 only

I have a hp laptop g60-125nr. It is partitioned with two OS: Win 7 64 bit and 32 bit Vista. Of DVD LightScribe SuperMulti 8 X DVD±R/RW drive, works fine when I boot from Win 7. When I boot to Vista, I get an error 10 code "the device cannot start. I tried to delete the driver from Vista and reboot, but it does not help. It seems that the two BONES have access the same drivers in the same place, which are c:\Windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys and GEARAspiWDM.sys. Can anyone help?

Mike

Please see Microsoft Community - drive of the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM CODE 10 for possible solutions to your problem.

Two operating systems are not the same drivers in the same place... access to, because when you boot in Windows 7, the Windows 7 partition C: drive... and when you start in Windows Vista, the Windows Vista partition becomes the C: drive. So, although it seems that both point to the same location, the partitions are renamed for use with their respective operating system.

  • DVD drive on my laptop is more sees DVD, but he sees music CDs.

Three days ago my DVD drive stopped recognize DVD, but still sees and plays music CD. I said this is perhaps the result of a file corrupted in Windows. Given that Windows Vista has been installed on the laptop when I bought it, and I've not found a copy on CD when I unpacked it, how can I download or otherwise re-install Vista to correct this potential problem?

This is probably not because of the corruption of files. Optical drives like that have two lasers; one for the CD and a DVD. It is common for one of these lasers to fail. You can try a cleaning disc kit (sold in office/computer supply stores) but probably you just need to replace the disk. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Satellite A100-784: fact partition system restore DVD formats

    Hi guys,.

I would ask you for help :)

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-784 with Windows Vista Home Basic OEM.
I have this Toshiba system recovery DVD. If I press F8 during start up I get to the screen where are some options (repair at startup etc.) but I'm interesting in 'Exploitation Windows System Restore'.
    I have two partitions (C:, D :), the system partition is C: :)
So, I would ask if I use this "Exploitation Windows System Restore" there he reformatted data on the D: partition as well?

If I press F8 when booting I get to the menu, I chose this computer repair and after that there are options:

    1 startup repair.)
    2 system restore.)
    Restoration complete 3 PC.) Windows
    Memory 4 Diagnostic tool.) Windows
    5. command prompt)
    6 operating system restore.) Windows

Is it possible to use one of these function just to reinstal C: partition without losing data on the D: partition?

    Thanks for the reply :)

    Hi friend

usually the system restore the c: partition fair DVD formats, so if you have two separate partitions, the restore DVD should leave the D: partition intact.
In your case I would choose point 6. (Operating system restore) that supposedly only restores the operating system, which means that it scratches the C: drive...

  • DVD - ROM SD-M1612 does not recognize DVD

I tried to search, but this search system is not very intuitive. In any case, I found the heading "DVD - ROM SD-M1612 doesn't recognize DVD".
    I'm having the same problem.

I know the drive works, I use for 5 years or so now, however long he is out. I replaced my hard drive, reinstalled my OS and now it doesn't recognize DVD. !!????

I tried all day to look for a solution. Fireware v1004. It reads CD fine, but not very strange DVD.

It also delays my startup process if a DVD is in the drive, by a very long time.

Any thoughts on what I have to update?

My motherboard is an ASUS P4TE

    Hello Fred

Why are you so sure that the drive is not faulty? If the player is old, it is possible that there is problem with the calibration of laser for DVD playback. I presume you n t have problem with CD with original DVD movies. Am I wrong?

  • Satellite M60-155: drive does not recognize DVD

The multidrive on my laptop does not recognize DVD-he just turns and clicks.

It recognizes the CD tho. I've had this problem before, but did not pick up the CD player and it plays DVDs.
I managed to solve this last time, but I do not remember how.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Don't you remember how you solved the problem? ?:|
    Hmm, very strange.
However, I think that it s a problem of calibration of lens of the drive.
The lens can not be calibrated properly and that's why the drive cannot read the media.

Have you tried to remove the drive from the laptop? If this is not the case, try to remove it. Then start without the drive. Then shut off the unit. Reinstall the drive and start the laptop. The firmware should take over again and maybe the lens is calibrated in the right position.

You can also try to clean the lens gently. But if the whole points will not help you may need to replace the drive

Having too many CD/DVD programs can cause strange problems, especially if they're loading of parts of
themselves at the start because they will be competing for resources. This does not mean that this issue has been
caused by those, however, it's a possibility depending on which and how many you have installed.

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.
