Win7, unable to update windows 64-bit.

Hi, I bought a new computer 2 days ago and it was brand new, containing windows 7 Home premium 64-bit. When I try to use windows update nothing happends, it will just look for, if he can find something he does not download or install it, tried for hours and hours for 2 days now it will freeze just on "search for updates".

I ain't get error code 8008005, Windows 7 is the code that I saw were not to give me a good start so far. How is it, I can't use windows update on Win7? I even tried to reset the laptop to factory default settings. A way to solve this problem?

Please answer questions following diagnosis by number in your next reply (no need to quote this post):

1. what application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

2. do you have a Norton or McAfee free trial come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (No matter if you have never used or activated).

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself. (No, Symantec Support never say this.) See if the following solves your problems:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    6. do a clean install of the 2010 version of your Norton application, using your product ID & reboot: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

TIP: Do not activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

    7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate until you get a prompt "no update more".

    8 test cycle.

NB: Your Norton application can disable Windows Defender by default.

    Hi Manfred13,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

I wanted to just check with you to see if this problem has been resolved.

Here are some steps described in the following article if you need help.  http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/910337

Verify that BITS is correctly configured verify that BITS is correctly configured. Then, try to start BITS. When you try to start BITS, you may receive one of several error messages. These error messages are listed in the section "troubleshooting steps. If you receive an error message when you try to start BITS, follow the steps in the section that corresponds to the error message that you receive.

To verify that BITS is correctly configured and then start BITS, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click run, type services.msc and click OK.
    2. Double-click on Background Intelligent Transfer Service.
    3. In the Startup type box, click Manual, and then click apply.
    4. Click the connection tab and verify that the service is enabled in every hardware profile is listed. If the service is disabled in one or more hardware profiles, click the hardware profile, click Activateand then click apply.
    5. Click the general tab, and then click Start.

If BITS starts successfully, visit the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site for updates. If you get the updates successfully, follow steps 1-3 again. However, in step 3, click Automatic rather than Manual.

Please follow these steps and if it does not solve the iss, try more of that article listed above to see if there is no will.

With 101 updates, you probably drive your nuts to the computer.

All of these updates must be installed before you attempt to upgrade to Windows 8.1

Download and run the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=Windows-8

Reboot and update 5 at a time, it will save time with less frustration in the end.  If it fails to install, hide them right click in the list updated, we'll work on that later.  Continue with the next batch of 5.

  • Laptop 15: unable to update windows 8.1 store

    Good evening

Help nicely with your advice regarding upgrading my windows 8 for windows 8.1 that whenever I try to update to store I get the following "" you can run an edition of Windows 8, which does not support the update of the store " "

    Looking forward to your comments.

I see that your computer is originally shipped with FreeDOS.  You haven't installed Windows 8 in there and where did you get Windows 8 of.

If you installed the Enterprise version or used a KMS (Volume license key), then you will not be able to upgrade to Win 8.1

  • No sound, unable to update windows, a variety of error codes and dssenh.dll problems... Help?

I'm running a Toshiba with Windows Vista. The 24th of this month, I have installed the updates for my computer, but when I rebooted I had absolutely no noise. I double checked to make sure it was not cut, I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, and then I tried to do a system restore. None of them worked.

Then I tried to check updates more see if this would help to solve my current problem and began to find more mistakes, such as "could not find updates, error code: 800 b 0001 ' or 'Code error 8024402F' these are mistakes that I see most.

Then when I go to open certain programs I get errors that say something about ' bad image: problem with Dssenh.dll "when I try to save it again, I get other errors with about 5 other .dll files.

Of course, I went to the Microsoft website long enough... and I went through multiple options and steps, but nothing helped. So I thought that my last option is to ask.

The last thing I can find is to download the "System update readiness Tool" to check for problems.

Well, I can't download or run because of my error '800 b 0001'.

I don't know what I would do at this point... Help?

Before the update from the update began when my computer was being restarted... I had a black screen and had a weird three-step process that was supposed to be recommended. Meanwhile, there was a flood of information that crosses the screen.
I ran a scan complete antivirus just in case, but it could be a virus that has not been detected?

If anyone has any information, it is greatly appreciated... I don't know what to do.
