WIN8 > WIN7

I had about enough of the POS, also known under the name of WIN8. I have a unused win7 pro licence and wish to wipe the slate clean and install it on my X 230. However, it raises the question, is there a unique collection of drivers for this machine for W7?

I don't want to spend days, looking for software to mount the machine and running when the conversion is completed.

Any suggestion is appreciated!

Yes. Two actually, both available on the Lenovo support site.

1. system update. Download and install this utility after installing Win7. Let him determine what you need, then download and install for you.

2. matrix of device driver. Use this page to find and download device drivers and ThinkVantage utilities you need.

Of course 1. is much easier than 2.

  • V. Win8 Win7?

I'm not an early - adopting.  I use desktop and laptop, no notebook, and I have no interest in touchscreens.

Therefore, as I think to replace my old hardware, I intended to order instead of Win8 Win7, Win7 is available.  (I know: the window closes, no pun intended.)

I assumed that Win7 is more stable.  And of course, Win7 has a look that I'm used to and comfortable with.

But a recent comment by a user in another thread makes me wonder...  Is unstable or unreliable Win7?  What Win8 "more fully cooked?

I think the difference between Excel 2007 and Excel 2010.  XL2007 seems to be "wobbly", almost a prototype for XL2010, while XL2010 is the "fully cooked" version  (A MVP offered this same analysis.)

Is true even of Win7 ("wobbly"?) and Win8 ("fully cooked"?)?

With Win8 radical change in the GUI, I thought that the reverse could be true.

    Comments?

I'll buy just my personal experience rather than conjecture.

I got your desktop Windows 7 since its launch in 2009. I found that it is stable and without major problems.

I got a Windows laptop, 8 for about a month now. I'll be honest and say it takes some getting used to, but when you've worked out how to access things, in general, its OK. Some of the things I like are:

-quick startup time (5-6 seconds for mine).

-the availability of the applications via the Windows store.

What I don't like so far Windows 8, it is that some applications, including Microsoft ones like the Mail application, seem to have take simplicity and UI own one not too far away. There is plenty of room for some additional icons for things like printing, but instead, you will need to do this via the charms bar or a keyboard shortcut.

Although, I have been using Windows 8 for a lot less time that Windows 7, he only gave me reason to believe that it will be not as stable... Well not yet anyway!

The upgrade to Windows 7 or later will preserve my personal files, applications, and settings?

Yes, the upgrade to Windows 7 or a later version will preserve your personal files (documents, music, pictures, videos, downloads, Favorites, contacts, etc., applications (IE.) Microsoft Office, Adobe applications etc), games and settings (ie. passwords, dictionary, the application settings).

My programs, equipment and existing drivers will work on Windows 8?

Most of the applications and designed for Windows 7, hardware drivers or later should work with Windows 8. Of course, with significant changes expected in Windows 8, it is preferable to that contact the software developer and supplier of equipment for the support for Windows 8. Windows 8setup will be keep, update, replace, and may require that you install new drivers via Windows Update or the manufacturer's Web site.

    Backing up your computer:
When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7.

    Also check:

You remove the hard drive from the defunct machine and connect it to the new computer via a USB interface...

You can use an adapter like this...

Or the other of the foregoing will get basic access to everything that is on the disk.

  • Pavilion 17 e045sw: I need drivers for e045sw. Downgrade win8 > win7

    Hello.

I got a HP Pavilion e045sw. I don't like windows 8, so I spent to Windows 7 (64-bit). I can't find the drivers for it. Can you help me?

There is no information available online about what model of wireless card to your PC.

Please do the following so I can understand that, and then I'll post the link to the wireless card driver you need.

Go to Device Manager.  There should be a category of other devices containing a list of devices that need drivers under this category.

The wireless card is labeled as a network controller.

Click the network controller device, and then click the Details tab in the upper part of the window of network controller device.

Now you should see a drop-down list of property and it is set by default to the Description of the unit.

On this list and select the second element (Hardware ID).

After the first string of characters you see in the window.

  • WIN8 is not compatible for all people

First off let me say that I am not at all familiar with the operation of the software.

We bought a satellite for my wife, as his last cell phone comes to the soul. She is physically and mentally handicapped due to a brain tumor, so his condition can vary from day to day.

We found that it may not use Win8 as the lane width on the 4 corners of the screen are too narrow, as when she tries to bring the key or mouse down through the avenues his one hand is not stable enough. It can also hold memory.

It took him 18 months to learn from the "upgrade from XP to Win7 but with its just Win8 leads to tears. She cannot send emails, or work on Skype on its new LTop

So, we are now in the streams of tears and realize that Microsoft must have a policy of positive discrimination against disabled users.

They must have thought about it and realizes that many people with disabilities would not be able to use this new operating system "why have one click through when you can have five" seems to be the norm.

As most of the operations now requires simultaneous operations something that a right-handed and disabled person is extremely difficult. but a quick something twenty ingenious bodied person would be child's play!

    SO THE QUESTION IS THIS...
WHAT MICROSOFT HAVE A POLICY OF AFFIRMATIVE AGAINST DISABLED PEOPLE?
Maybe they should allow people with disabilities the opportunity to win7 on win8. but that would mean admitting Win8 isn't all they say it is.

I spent over an hour on the phone with Microsoft, as I have all the time in the world to ask for a downgrade to Win7 all they would admit was too I could buy win7 and pay for the "downgrade" or talk to Toshiba.
Once again Microsoft duck and dive to the show.

The product is not fit for purpose and under the legislation of the United Kingdom all I have to do is to prove. Well; more than 14 M sites complaining about WIN8 should be enough to convince a judge.

For a small fee to the courts in the morning should see legal arm-wrestle very long and very long running.

At first, I must say that I respect your opinion and I read your story with a lot of attention. To be honest I don't think it's the right place for the discussion about this and maybe you should also put this on some forum Microsoft Win8 directly to read what other people think of her.

Is that technical development gets started quickly and software / hardware manufacturers try to always offer something new and make own more attractive products for the market and we as consumers. OK all of us is not happy with new things, but we cannot do much. You know it's something like take or leave.

To be honest, I prefer more Win8 Win7 and I bought the Toshiba fully supported for Win7 and I use my OS on the new piece of hardware.

So, what else? Be cool and try to find a solution. Maybe you can find a machine more old which works perfectly with Win7. For example last month I bought more Satellite P300 in perfect condition for a friend of mine, and after the installation Win7, everything is just perfect.

  • Windows 10 on MacBook Pro 2010 13 mi

Hello! I am trying to install the Nvidia drivers, but does not have all

    I have a MacBook Pro 2010 2.4 6 GB Ram Nvidia 320 M (only compatibility issue)

    When I install the driver: (15,56 327, 23 - 296.72-)

    Notebook-WIN8-Win7-64bit-327.23-WHQL-Driver.html

    or 295.73-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql

    or 15.56-nforce-winvista-win7-64bit-international-whql

with support for windows 7 and still being run as administrator

At half way installation my screen becomes black for a while and the mac restarts with no driver installed.

In the Device Manager - other devices (SM Bus controller - Video Controller (VGA)) if updated drivers it also breaks

And the brightness controller does not work.

    Any thoughts?

The Mid 2010 MacBook Pro 13 inch support not Windows 8.1 or 10.

You can use the version latest is Windows 7.

    The drivers are not compatible.

  • Toshiba will be updating video driver from Nvidia NVS 2100 M for Tecra S11?

Toshiba will be updated driver Nvidia NVS 2100 M of S11?

My S11 machine is almost 3 years old. In the first year there was a lot of update for the drivers, but last year 1 there is no update.

Official website of nvidia, there is a driver download page, but if I install the last driver - no matter that one - I have several video driver related issue. So I downgrade to the Toshiba nvidia driver.
    I'll try this one
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/Quadro-notebook-WIN8-Win7-WinVista-64bit-310.90-WHQL-driver-all.html

If nvidia or toshiba will update the video driver?

To be honest I don t think that Toshiba will offer updates for older models of laptops.

As you probably know Toshiba offers modified and tested the drivers so it will be interesting to know what kind of problems you have with the NVIDIA driver.

Hi everyone I have a HP Compaq 8710w and it works very well so far.

There is a problem experienced with Quadro FX 3600 M drivers in Windows 7 If you do not use the old drivers given the HP (186,24) but other than that, everything is ok.

Is it possible to give official drivers for the Quadro FX 3600 M of this laptop great for Windows 8.1 because it is a known problem that all the other drivers do not work properly.

As for the help of all the other drivers, there is an option that works for me.  If you must use a driver newest to work with Win8.1 (I have) there is a solution, but the will of costs over the life of the battery!

I had been using latest drivers for my 8710w fx3600m rigging using this method and I hope that it is a possible solution for you as well:

Download a newer driver for the fx3600m for Win8.1 and it's a good idea to film for WHQL drivers.

I am currently using the 334.95 driver (334.95-quadro-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe).

DO NOT install the drivers right away.

    Download"Powermizer Switch.exe" here - http://www.box.net/shared/v7jpoateoq

Powermizer Switch.exe extract on your desktop for quick access.  You will need to be easily accessible.

It may be a good idea to make sure you're clean of any other video drivers Nvidia beforehand.

Now, we are ready to install the driver.

IMPORTANT!  When you install the driver, only select the driver and nothing else and don't forget to restart immediately!

Once on the Windows desktop, start immediately 'Powermizer Switch.exe', click on 'Powermizer Off' and YES to restart!

This will allow all pilots before the xx 192.le and eliminate the blackscreen/blue screen issue.

NOTE: any time you pass or update the drivers (former 192.xx), you will need to use this scheme every time!

  • Problems with discrete graphics from NVS 5200 m on T430s

    Hey all,.

I just got my T430s mail this past weekend, and I had trouble with the Blue Screen of Death. It happened twice so far, and both times the graphics card is not recognized after reboot. The first time it happened, I tried to do a system restore, but that did nothing. I reinstalled the initial configuration using the recovery partitiion operating system, and that did the trick.

The blue screen of death just happened again, and exactly the same problem has cropped up again. After reboot, the system no longer recognizes it has a discrete graphics card. When I try to start the Nvidia Control Panel, it tells me that it cannot detect a discrete graphics card in the system.

I did a quick search of the forum, and I can't find any thread with a similar problem. I found this in the Lenovo support area, but it is not relevant to my http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/diagnose-and-fix/detail.page?DocID=HT052544equipment >

On the NVIDIA site, I can only find drivers 'Beta' for NVS 5200 M http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-304.79-beta-driver.html>. After you download the driver and any attempt to install, the system gives me the same error that it cannot find any compatible graphics hardware.

    Here's my hardware configuration:

    ThinkPad T430s

    i5 3320 M 2.60 GHz

    NViDIA NVS 5200 m

    4 GB of RAM (stock)

    360 GB HARD drive (stock)

It is located in Optimus. I don't think that there is only a discreet.

I called Lenovo support center and discovered that there is a new graphics driver. Have not had a problem with the blue screen of death since then. Looks like that was the problem.

Once more, if it happens again, I'll be sure to post here.
