Window of nuisance

Hello

Mine is a laptop HP with windows 10. I constantly get the message of window HP depending on my screen. How can I disable it?

Hello

On the Start Menu, select settings, then system, and then select features and applications in the left pane.

When the list is full, locate HP welcome and left click - you should now see the option to uninstall.

Kind regards

  • Nuisance the Windows NT Developer Kit

Like many in the past, I get a pop up on startup by asking me to download a developer for Windows NT which I did not.  I close the notification but it is whenever I start.

Someone kindly suggested it may have been caused by a Garmin update.  Well, I don't have day Garmin recently.  I ran msconfig.exe and disabled the Garmin at startup.  Which seemed to cure the problem but it is now back with a vengeance!

Help!  This who should I next to get rid of this?  I have run Norton 360 AV and Norton Utilities which does not seem to recognize this problem

    Thank you very much

I now seem to have solved myself.

The box that appeared on my desk on start up was headed "User Account Control".  The wording in the box "do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?

Name of the program: a tool to help prepare their services for Windows NT

    Verified Publisher: Microsoft Windows

I then clicked on the 'Détails' button which revealed the following:

'C:\Windows\System32\sc.exe' start 'Update Garmin Core Service'

I have now deleted "sc.exe" and the box no longer appears on start up!

However, many thanks for your prompt response to try to help me.  Which was much appreciated.

  • Research of Windows malware?

    Hello!

I heard that Mac can have Windows malware, and although it is harmless for Mac (Windows malware can´ ' t really steal passwords?) it can move for users of Windows through mail or such?

I Don t want to infect windows using buddies then the advice? I have Malwarebytes and Avast for Mac, but they assume Don t look for malware from Windows?

I can't speak from personal experience about Malwarebytes and Avast for Mac, but I can say that Sophos Anti-virus for Mac detect and report the Mac and Windows malware.

I am surprised that a horde of people not already jumped in and said Macs do not need anti-virus software anti-virus itself is a real nuisance. However they seem to still do not understand is that companies often have to ensure that they do not spend on malware to these unfortunate people using Windows.

  • Why can I not pay each bookmark opening (window or separate tab)?

Whenever I open a bookmark, I must always point to open in the same tab, new tab or a new window. My choice is always the same for any given bookmark. Why do you not provide the ability to select which option to open the bookmark in the properties of each bookmark? In this way, a simple click on the bookmark and it opens exactly the way the user wants - without all the nuisance of extra click.

You can use the Ctrl + click to open a bookmark in a new background tab. And SHIFT + click for a new window with "focus".

Where does it automatically for each specific bookmark, you will need to get an add-on for this type of functionality.

  • Want FF windows to restart even than when I left.

I always expand my Firefox Windows, leaving usually a few open when I leave FF before shutdown every night. I deliberately turned on Session Restore in my FF Options to get back to where I was when I stopped ff. When I start then FF, I get all of my expected windows and tabs, but all FF Windows are reduced instead of maximized size as they were when I stopped FF.

It's a minor issue, but I consider it a nuisance. My previous session is NOT entirely restored to its previous state.

I use Firefox for more than 10 years, and I don't think that this has always been what has happened. I am running Firefox 33.1.1, but the problem has been around through several releases.

    HI SF_Frog,
Thank you for your question. Currently, session restore does not record the size of the windows. The stored information can be revealed in this addon:

Firefox improves however with each new version and there are some bugs for this https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=session%20re...

I'm sorry that I don't have an ETA if this will change and I do not understand that it is boring.

  • When I click to a new tab this window now opens... "chrome://nspdlmsd/content/newtab/newtab.html" - I want that it return a blank page.

    As above.
Since a few days now, every time I click on "Open a new tab" in firefox it opens immediately at the above url. I did, unintentionally that's how they get you if you're not careful, installed MySearchDial but it disappear totally via Add/Remove and start/search. I even new windows open with content, I don't like at all... my homepage comes back again, but I can't seem to figure out how to get my new tab to open again in a blank page (btw, at the bottom of this page "chrome" there is an icon of mysearch.com - I googled "how to remove this" without success).
I do not use Chrome and no it was not listed as one programs on my computer. However, when I start/search for 'chrome' there is a complete list of files and folders that are found and I'm not sure if I have to remove them as many of them seem to be directly related to Firefox. Please - it's frustrating... What can I do to get rid of this garbage on my computer?

I used the approach described here, and it worked.
This page showed as a pseudo home page when I walked into Firefox.
First of all, I found the path of this webpage of nuisance when I tried to print it. In my case, all I had to do was raise Firefox in safe mode. It showed the MySearchDial progam listed as one of my modules (that I never asked). After removing it, my usual, favored homepage came once more without interference.

  • Why my "Plug-Ins" window reappear every time I open Firefox?

It is only a nuisance, but becomes aggravating after several occurrences repeated, while I'm working on sometning. My response: why my "Plug-Ins" window reappear everytime I open Firefox? summarizes and completely describes the problem.

You can delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created if necessary.

    See "extension corrupted files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions

If you see disabled extensions are not compatible on the next departure in "tools > Modules > Extensions" and then click "Find updates" to do a compatibility check.

You may also need to 'Reset all the preferences for the default user of Firefox' at the start of Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode window.

  • Uninstall and reinstall the Bootcamp files in the partition Windows 10?

Lonely T had a suggestion regarding a previous post, but I had already looked at the post, he suggests consulting, with no luck.  No further response.  So I try another tack before coming back to Win 7.

I upgraded partition Win 7 Ultimate to win 10 Pro 10 days and installed drivers 8.1 on Macbook Pro 17 "early 2011."  Apple does not support Windows 10 on these machines, although many noted that they have been able to install it using 8.1 drivers - as I did.  Everything works in win 10 EXCEPT:

    1. by logging into my account, sometimes, the computer crashes because it loads the thumbnail of the bootcamp Control Panel, which gives a BAD_POOL_HEADER BlueScreen, after what win 10 restarts.  It is possible, of course, that the problem lies in fact in the attempt to load another program.  However:

    2. when the loading of the miniature of Bootcamp not breaks down the computer, trying to get access to the control panel often crash to give up - again - the BAD_POOL_HEADER blue, followed by an automatic restart screen.

All drivers are 'best machine', etc.  Memory - 16 GB - is fine and has no problem under Win 7 or OS X 10.11.3.

Version of Bootcamp 3.0, which is what has worked with Win 7, although there are newer versions.

I guess this isn't a common problem.  Any suggestions on what can be done before I abandon Win 10 and return to Win 7?  I am even willing to uninstall Bootcamp in the Win 10 score and try to load it using the automatic installation of 8.1, but not heard about someone who has tried this and had success with it.  (I love 10 and am tired of being told in Win 7 that I should update to Win10.  "But I don't want to waste time with nuisance Bootcamp crashes at 10).

The Intel GPU drivers seem to cause a lot of grief on Mac before 2012, when executing W10.

    1. can you check if the Windows installation is EFI (use msinfo32 and look at the Mode of BIOS).

2 W7 is usually installed using old BIOS/MBR on Mac 2011. The hardware exposed through the layer of CSM-BIOS is not the same as that exposed through EFI. For example, the layer CSM cache the Intel GPU integrated. You can check what cards you currently have in the Device Manager? Please also check devices hidden using view-> the box show hidden devices.

3 W7/W8.1 drivers are not different from the BC driver packages 5.x series.

4 W10 has a more rigorous application of the drivers and does not load the unsigned drivers that have been allowed in W7/W8.1 5.x series.

    5. the W8.1/W10 BC6 drivers series is necessary.

    6. you need not install drivers BC6 and he just use generic Windows drivers, but some of your specific Apple hardware does not work the same OS X and W10 using this approach.

    7. most of the users have installed individual pilots as a solution, in some cases using administrator rights and compatibility mode.

8 event Viewer would be the best place to search for the driver that caused the exception.

9 automatic update of Windows seems to be broken in W10. It installs drivers that are appropriate for your hardware, but these accidents cause drivers, reboot, BSOD, etc..

  • What is the best solution to use a Palm Tungsten 2 on a Windows 7 computer?

Pushed by the end of XP, I bought a workstation HP Z230 running Windows 7 Professional.   I would get my Palm Tungsten 2 work, and I've heard several options here on that.

    Options

Use Palm Desktop 6.2 with Bluetooth for hotsync.  (I've done this with a laptop Win7, but I use the Notepad utility a lot with a few macros, which is unfortunately not supported on Desktop v6.2).

    B. use Palm Desktop 4.1.4 in a virtual Windows XP environment running under Win 7.  I know that I can do, and it's probably my rescue.  However, Microsoft suggests that you disconnect from the Internet when you use the virtual XP, as it can be sensitive to piracy because they support no more than XP.   This will be a further nuisance that I will probably forget to do.

    C. use the USB Aceeca driver to make Desktop 4.1.4 work.  I tried following the instructions here to do, but when Hotsync fails, he never appears as a triangle yellow in the Manager list of devices, even after I followed the tip to make visible hidden devices.  So I could not even try the Aceeca pilot with Palm 4.1.4 again.

    D. install the Aceeca Desktop 4.1 and update their driver.  I might try this (uninstall Palm 4.1.4 and install Aceeca 4.1) but it seems that it depends on the same procedure to update the driver as my option C just above.  So I think I can run in the same c dam.

    Issues related to the:

Someone at - it other ideas of how to get connected to Palm Desktop 4.1.4 Aceeca driver I could try?

Does anyone know if Aceeca Desktop supports the installation of Notepad if I try the D option?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Eureka!

I have now received Palm Desktop 4.1 to run on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and showing all the modules with my Tungsten T2 and without locking.

The breakthrough was all the things above (including run them as an administrator) and adding to it, turn off the power of user access control, as suggested in another post unrelated by Dean (aka WyreNut)

Here are the stops to run Palm 4.1 (not 4.1.4) on Windows 7 and synchronize with a T2.

    A. install Palm Desktop 4.1.

    B. when it tries to Hotsync and fails, look in the Device Manager in Control Panel and look for a reference to Palm with a yellow exclamation point in it.  Note: This palm reference appears only during a Hotsync.  Therefore, look right after a failure.  NOTE: If you do not see this device or the yellow exclmation point by it, you will probably need to uninstall Palm Desktop and start again.

    C. follow the instructions to install the driver of Aceeca instead of the Palm pilot.  (This is covered elsewhere on this site.  You must already have the driver downloaded and unpacked Aceeca and on your computer so you can navigate to it).  This should enable Hotsync to work.

    D. right-click on the shortcut to the program Palm Desktop 4.1 and go to the Compatibility tab and click on where it says 'Privilege level' and check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator."

E, go to the control panel and disable user access control.  I didn't find this by going to the Control Panel, so I searched help and got the information.   There is a slider control and who slide down.  You will then need to reboot for it to take effect.

After doing all these things, I am fortunately HotSync with my Tungsten T2 with its Palm Desktop 4.1 original.

  • Satellite L550 - square black on the desktop icons after upgrading to Windows 7

    Hi people.

Don't know if Windows 7 has simplified our PC as Microsoft would have us believe. I spent the last two days trying to understand why my L550 has suddenly square black on my desktop icons.

What happens after the installation of Microsoft, application of a software patch updates for a HP deskjet 5150 printer. To be honest, I'm more sure when this nuisance hits me.

Resolution true color (32 bit) upward in color (16 bit) downgrade rid my icons of black squares. Should I therefore settle for a lower resolution when my laptop can do better? Any workaround yet?

    Thank you

    Hey, Mambo,

What exactly are you installing if you visit the Windows Update page? Maybe you install a different display driver that isn't compatible with the graphics card.
    Check this box!

Also, make sure that the new display on the site of Toshiba driver is installed.

Is the software patch for your printer that is compatible with Windows 7?
