Window.opener doesn't work

I have a site that seems just broke the 18 or 18.0.1 release. The specific code that is breaking is a call to window.opener.
The error I see in the console says: TypeError: window.opener.Assignments is not defined

I checked this with IE and FF on our test servers as well as our comparison Server (running launches the latest version of the code) and they all have the same problem is not something that has changed in our code base.

Can someone tell me why there are errors javascript calls to window.opener with the latest version and how I can work around this problem?

I think I found the answer to my own question. In case somebody stumbles on it and it's useful.

I think the problem was that the code calls window.opener.form when it appears in firefox, you must call window.opener.document.form. Since both work in FF and IE and it seems there are only a few places in the code where we aren't calling window.opener.document I'll just update the code to do this.

For starters, this has happened since Firefox 10 or more. A couple of months now.

I am able to open Firefox. My modules worked (ABP, Flashblock, ABP Element Hiding Helper, IETAB2, Downthemall, Greasemonkey, extension of 4chan) had no problem. Firefox is defined and has been fixed for the past two years as my default browser.

But since about 10 or so, maybe Firefox before, if I opened a session of Firefox and any other application attempts to open a session in a new window, I get the Firefox is already running but not responding do not error. »

I tried to follow the advice of already posted troubleshooting (glance to parent.lock files left [no date], several sessionstore.js [no date] files, create a new user profile, has tried to erase the 'read only' permission in windows 7, but as soon as it is cleared, only read permission back.)

As a last resort, I deleted the Firefox folder, the directory %APPDATA%/Mozilla in its entirety and then used CCleaner to remove all references to Firefox in the windows registry, and then made a complete re - install, without extensions installed right now.

    All cases:
Firefox is selected as the default browser for windows 7

Case 1: Log in to firefox. Use any other program that is trying to open a link to their Web site in a new window browser or the new browser session. "Firefox is already running" error

Case 2: Open a firefox session. Right click on Firefox in the taskbar. Select 'open in new window '. "Firefox is already running" error

Case 3: Open a session of firefox. Select the Firefox Menu > new tab > new window. In fact, a new window opens.

This is the only method of opening a new window in the same browser session or profile that actually works on my system. Attempting to open a browser session from the task bar "open new window dialog" or opening a new window while a current window/session is running will not open firefox in a new window or a new tab in the current session. Hi Kathleen,.

    Thanks for joining Microsoft Community.

According to the description provided, looks like you're not able to install updates or programs such as the Windows Installer does not work.

I have a few steps, I should help you solve this problem.

    Method 1:

Try the steps mentioned in this link and check:

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Method 2:

    Try these steps and check

Let us scan SFC and check if there are any file system corruption.

1 put the Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM.

    2. click on 'Quit' if the auto-menu appears.

    3. click on 'Start', then click on 'run '.

    4. Type "SFC/scannow" (without the quotes) in the "Open" box, then click on 'OK '.

Note: There is a space between "SFC" and "/ Scannow".

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  • PrintScreen of Windows 7 doesn't work does not correctly

Not sure if it is in the correct category but... I downloaded Windows 7 Pro 64 - bit from my school DreamSpark account and installed on my computer, which is pretty old about 5-6 years.  There should not be anything wrong with the copy of Windows, it is not a debug or whatever it is, it's just the regular retail copy.  Almost everything works fine except for a few small quirks/bugs.  First of all, I can't preview images using the Windows Viewer, it displays simply all the rectangles fully black images.  However, if I open an image to preview in Image Viewer, and then click full screen/slide show then it displays the images as should be in full screen.  And then exit fullscreen Gimme the picture in black and white.  Not a particularly serious issue just annoying really.  In addition, perhaps in relationship I guess, I recently discovered that my Windows PrintScreen does not work.  When I hit PrintScreen, or any variation of the PrintScreen key combination, it captures just a large black rectangle, as if my entire screen showed only in black.  I tried to paste my Clipboard into Paint and Photoshop and both give me a black monitor rectangle size, it's really weird.  I even tried a third-party screen capture software and it's the same thing and I can't find anything even close to relevant on the internet.  Anyone have any ideas, anything is appreciated.

Another separate problem: when I turn on my computer, it will sometimes, not often but enough times to be meaningful, decide to not turn it on and recognize my keyboard and I have to restart and I hope that he do it again.

Last thing, I swear (I should probably do different missions).  My computer, as in my windows, does not sleep properly.  Sometimes, he won't in the mode 'sleep' and every time I try and wake him up it gives me a white, white I think, screen instead of the login screen.  If I press space to unlock my computer, because there is no password, it will take me on my desk but he will not recognize my internet connection ethernet or my desktop speakers and I have to restart my computer to get these features.  Once again a lot of what I think are really weird problems.  Any ideas on any of my problems is greatly appreciated.

  • Windows Defender doesn't work, even when I click on it, in the center of the Action

    Hi Jim,.

You will have to remove Norton first, download and run the Norton Removal Tool relevant to your particular product from the link below.

    Norton Removal Tool.

When the tool has finished, restart the laptop.

When windows has fully recharged see if you can now turn on Windows Defender.

  • CDROM in Windows XP doesn't work any more how to make replacement

The Windows XP CDROM does not copy files.  How do I get a new CD from Microsoft?

How to replace hardware or lost, broken, or missing Microsoft software

How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals

  • Window.Open is not supported by 40.0. + (39.0.0 and below of), can this please be corrected?

I often visit websites that will be, when the user clicks on a link or an action takes place, a new window will appear with the contents of the URL or the desired action (as when you pay a bill it is redirect to another provider who then handles the transaction). A few days earlier, I tried to pay a Bill and Firefox gave me a blank window but inspect 'command-u' shows that the HTML is there. When I did it through Safari, it worked. Today, I wanted access to a ProQuest database via a link provided by the UCLA Library and I got the same result: an empty window with HTML code appears when 'command-u' is used. Surprisingly, paste the link in a new browser window did produce the content. But the original empty browser window not showing anything even if it is re-charge. Both of the actions that I describe are produced by scripts on these two very different sites, but Firefox response is the same: a browser window empty.

To isolate it, I tried the simplest: I used window.open in my work site to send the visitor to the Publisher of origin of my work. The following code snippet is an example of this approach:

    "" < a href = "http://link.aps.org/abstract/PRL/v72/p1658"

        onclick="window.open(this.href);return false">original publication</a>.

By clicking on the link used to open a new browser window at aps.org.

But now it does not after the upgrade to 40.0. + (currently at 40.0.3).

It is, as far as I know, a call HTML "supported". And it works for 39.0.0 up to 34.0.5 (could have been furtherback, but I don't see the point).

I think that it is a major flaw with 40.0. + and must be fixed as soon as possible.

Thank you for reading this far.

  • Windows 7 Windows update does not work after replacing hard drive

Win7 Home Premium and HP Pavilion DV6-2150US.  Failed hard drive.  I bought a Seagate 500 GB replacement (original drive was 250 GB) and used my purchased HP re - install DVD to re - build Windows and reinstall the OEM software on the new hard drive.

Everything starts fine, but he won't deal of Windows updates (. e. is a big red X on the screen of windows update).  I tried Microsoft "Mr Fix it" download - but it error and none of the other suggestions Microsoft not work either.  When I had the chance to talk with a MS tech support person, she suggested that somehow windows on the new drive is not authentic, etc...  Although windows on the new drive hard indicates that its active and authentic... is there some kind of checking a number of the hard disk 'really' activate windows?

Just to make sure that my reinstall was not corrupt, I deleted the new hard drive and began in everywhere... I have the exact same result... it boots fine, but will not update through windows update.  The only other change to the laptop was that I had better buy double the memory to 8 of 4 when I bought 2 years ago... once again, do not know if there is a kind of material exchange limitation before disabling the windows software.

Help, please!  I'm really stuck.  THX JimmyC

Thanks for your post... I solved my problem by installing the update driver Intel rapid storage through this link:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02219204

I suppose that as long as the hard drive is lower 250Gig you need not the new driver.  But when I replaced my hard drive failed with a disc 500gig hard - when I did restore HP to Win7 and the OEM software from the dvd, I bought - it put the storage driver original in Win7 - which works very well with a 250 GB drive, but causes the windows update doesn't work is not for readers more than 250gig.   When I installed the driver from the link above file, Windows Update started working - and you can imagine there are many, many fixes since my PC has been restored to original Win7 - doesn't not even Win 7 SP1.

I hope it helps someone else... thank you for your message.  JimmyC

  • Message "Non-genuine Windows" &amp; Windows Update does not work after replacing the RAM.

    Hello

I have a PC desktop HPE-170 a current running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, which has been installed on the machine by the store where I bought it. It has been properly activated and has worked very well for 18 months or more.

The other day it decided to not start and a computer savvy friend corrected the problem by removing the RAM memory cards, clean the gold plated connectors and re - insert the. This fixes the problem and it started again.

Today I received a message on the computer of Microsoft saying "your copy of Windows is not genuine" and he invited me to "solve online. Well, click on the 'My Computer' icon showed me that windows was still active.

By clicking on the "solve Online" link took me to a validation page, where after she tried to validation, it says "The Validation failed" and advised me to buy another copy of Windows 7 HP for AUD $149. Gee, thanks, but no thanks Microsoft. I clicked on cancel and the non-genuine message has not yet reappeared.

I also found now that Windows Update doesn't work that way.

I rang MS that says that I need the Windows 7 Setup disk. When I said that I don't have one, they advised me to ring HP. I didn't have time to complete the phone call from HP, but I believe that HP wants me to reset the system to factory with them State guide me by phone.

I have a genuine copy of Windows, a product key, and it shows as activated.  From what I understand the system think that I tried to put my copy of Windows 7 on a new computer or similar? I'm not sure.

Is it really difficult to get the system works just like before?

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm afraid I don't understand your instructions. I think that you are a fair way waiting for me in the issues of tech savvy.

I think I have stumbled upon something here; http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02219204

Download and update this driver seemed to do Windows Update includes itself.

I can now go here; realwww.microsoft.com/ /validate/ and he says: "Welcome to Windows".

I hope I now get no more fake messages on my OS Windows is non-genuine.

    I'll see what happens tomorrow.

Last update 18/7: seems to be fixed, no more problems.

  • target_blank vs window.open

I have a series of links in which I want to open in a new page, but when try it on another computer, it seems that the behavior "window.open" does not work on older browsers without Java (?) and it opens a new window but does not keep the current page open

but when I use the function target_blank I seem not to be able to control the size of the window and weather or not, there is a menu bar, etc... On my mac and more recent PC there is no problem, but on older versions is then the question arises and with my demographics target being what they are, I need the code to work on all suggestions from platforms.any?  the links are designed for the RSS FEED and here are the codes:

    < a href = '{link}' onclick = "window.open ('{link}', 'link', ' resizable = 0, scrollbars = 10, directories = 0, location = 0, menubar = 0, status = 0, toolbar = 0, width = 1000, height = 630');" Location.href = "; return false; ' > < / a >

It has nothing to do with Java and JavaScript. The two languages are completely unrelated.

Window.Open JavaScript-based and has been supported in browsers since about 1995. Thus, the older browsers make no difference. What makes the difference is that the user can disable JavaScript in the browser. Some people do unjustified fear about security.

Using target = "_blank" is a normal part of the HTML, and works in all browsers. There is no that opens the page in a new window. You can't control the size and/or position of the window.
