Windows 10 fatal error: Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server

Today I couldn't open a pdf document by double-clicking on it in Windows Explorer. Apparently, nothing happened. Finally, I opened right click and chose with... Chrome. It worked. The default value is Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. I found later, after the closure of the browser widow, dialog windows three under. Said dialog boxes "fatal error / Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server.»

When double checking so that writing this post, I found that by double clicking on a PDF document opens on board - and that works too. Right-click, context menu's 'Open' in the top of the page and more restraint, 'Open with->' and Adobe Acrobat Reader ms at the top of the submenu.
I just tried the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC selection and nothing I happening. I reduced all the windows one by one to see if a dialogue window appears, but no.

Googling the error message turned up a suggestion to set a registry entry, but the entry was already the suggested value: HKCR\acrobat\shell\open\ddeexec\application: default: REG_SZ: AcroViewR10,.

What type of server Acrobat tries to connect with? How to? Acrobat Connect to the Explorer window for the file name?
With no information to go, how you can help out us, other than the nuclear option: reinstall everything?

Thank you

    Uninstall/reinstall of Adobe Reader 9.1
-uninstall Adobe Reader 9.1 and Adobe Reader 8 installation
-Remove the checkmark next to "USE DDE" in the Windows Explorer File Types section
    (In Windows Explorer, click on tools = > Folder Options = > Types of files = > PDF = > advanced = > open = > change = > use DDE)

I had success with the "connect as" to "Local System account" with the "allow service to interact with desktop" checked.

I have Windows 7.  When I try to download a file, it rises and then freezes.  I uninstalled and reinstalled adobe reader software and it still does not work.  It worked fine until about a week ago.  What has caused this happens and how to fix it?

Using Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader? If only the PDF reader, it has always been problematic. I suggest you only replace it with this lightweight and reliable PDF reader.

    Hey,.

You could try to remove all Acrobat processes in Task Manager and then restart Acrobat.

In addition, please repair Acrobat in the Help menu.

If you still get the same error, press (Windows + Run) and type "REGEDIT".

Go to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\acrobat\shell\open\ddeexec\application" and tell me if the given key is AcroViewA10 or AcroViewR10.

    Hello

Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 answers Forum!

You can try the steps below and check if the problem is resolved.

Note: DDE is dynamic data exchange and Explorer uses DDE to open Office documents (to assume that you open the document in the browser).

DDE share is a tool for managing how the programs to communicate and share data over a network.

If you want to disable this prompt, then you can follow the steps below.

Here, this problem may occur if you have installed a safety program on your computer, you can get this error message.

Try disabling the analysis of access for application control strategy in your safety program and control for the issue.

For this you will need to communicate with your security program support team.

For more information on this you can visit the links below.

If you still experience the problem so that you can perform a cleanboot on your computer to identify the conflicting program.

    Clean clean boot.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    The user account control permission.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type

    password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load starting points.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If the problem is resolved, make sure what third-party program is at the origin of the problem, referring to the link given below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual.

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue. On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

  • AR error "AR could not communicate to the DDE server.

I've updated from Win 7 to win 10. I have AR DC and it was working fine before the upgrade. Now when I try to use the AR, I get the following error message: "AR could not communicate to the DDE server". After reading several posts on the forums, I tried to clean up the permissions for AR DC. AR DC started working but only once. He went immediately to the same error message. I tried to reinstall AR DC but I still get the same error message.  Can anyone help? Thanks John

    Hi johnm72885013,

The error you see "Acrobat could not connect to a DDE server" occurs usually when Acrobat/Reader finds an already running instance of Acrobat/Reader software, tries to 'talk' to it, but this other instance does not. This can happen if there is a 'guillotine' or misconduct Acrobat/Reader running (perhaps in running in background because he doesn't close properly).

If you are uncomfortable with the task manager of Windows (via Ctrl-Shift-Escape), then try and kill any what Acrobat.exe or AcroRd32.exe instances running in the background that may have disappeared.
