Windows 10, Version 1511 is not properly installed on iMac

I installed Windows 10 Home on my iMac Retina 4K , OS El Capitan 10.11.3, using the BootCamp Assistant and a Windows 10 ISO just downloaded from the Microsoft site to my iMac hard drive. The system (Windows 10)  was installed apparently without problems and seemed to function properly, including the wireless connections. During the installation, I  saw that the Windows version installed was that of July 2015. I then restarted the computer and it automatically started installing the November Update (version 1511 of Windows 10). At the end of the process, the screen showed the following warning (I´m paraphrasing from memory):
     "AUTOMATIC REPAIR"
     "Windows did not install correctly"
"Restoring the system may restore your computer to a point earlier in time, when it was working properly..."
I restored it to the only restore point available (the one before I updated to the 1511 version). After it finished, the following message was shown on the screen:
"Automatic Repair was not able to repair your PC. Click on "Advanced Options" to try other options"
None of the options repaired the computer. The wireless controllers had disappeared. I contacted Apple Care (I have the three year extended warranty option) and they said they could not help me because this is a Microsoft Windows problem and I then contacted Microsoft support and they said they could not help me because Microsoft does not support Windows installed on Mac computers.
Can anybody help me?
Thank you!

    - Or nearby - 17 November Microsoft has released an update to Windows 10 Version 1511.
The Windows Update process necessary to uninstall the security software for the HP customer as it has been marked as incompatible.

Before you uninstall, I've upgraded to version VERSION: 8.3.16.2035 (SP72998.exe). The installation under this version of Windows 10 properly filled.

I have re-directed the Windows Update process and it beating Pavilion HP Client Security Software as incompatible and need it be uninstalled before the update of Windows 10 Version 1511.

I uninstalled the HP Client Security software, upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1511. When reinstalling SP72998.exe, after you open a powershell window, the installation fails with the message "error 1722" There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package... Action PinShortcut.9EA0... "Location: c:\users\"username removed"\AppData\local\...\DPClientCOnsole.exe.

A quick capture of window powershell before she disappears reveals a similar error: 'verb Pin to taskbar not found. "

It seems that something in the Setup program tries to pin to the taskbar is a failure. A quick google search seems to indicate that the interface script to pin has been removed in Windows 10.

I tried to install the update with Windows 8 compatibility, run as administrator, clean boot Windows. The same error each time.

An installer updated that works with Windows 10 Version 1511 or a workaround would be greatly appreciated so I can regain the use of software security tools for the HP customer as a login by fingerprint reader.

Workaround in this post worked perfectly with Windows Version 1511 10 and HP Client Security Software VERSION: 8.3.16.2035 (SP72998.exe).

  • "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed" when you use Windows Mail

Original title: loss of entrance of Protocol in the list of saved files

I use an old Toshiba laptop of two year with Vista as an operating system. It came with a trial version of Microsoft Office already installed. I had no use for it then after the trial expires I uninstalled. This seems to have created a minor problem with the e-mail program. When I visit a Web site and click on 'Contact us' I get an error message as follows "cannot perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed." I suspect strongly as during the uninstallation of office he removed a protocol in the list entry, similarly, the bottom of the list of the saved files. A check with other similar computers with Vista installed seems to confirm this. If someone at - it a quick fix to this problem? I don't want to resort to installing a whole new email software to fix this minor problem if I can avoid it.

Hello Karena R, yesterday, I downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail, and I must say that I prefer Windows Mail Live Mail program. After making sure that Live Mail is the deafult for all messaging functions and that the entry "Mail Protocol" was now back to the list of saved files, I checked the problem mentioned in my original post. He is not fixed! Another small problem is fixed now if. In my "drafts" mailbox I have some e-mails stored there and when I click on one of them upwards now comes an email with the appropriate address inserted in the address line. Who could not before. I used to get this error message, which is now the new title of my post. So why the difference when I click on email address that I find on Web sites? Now, I also find that by Michael following the instructions (below), I do not see an entry "mailto" but his suggestion to step d. type in "URL Protocol" is not appropriate because it is already there. The installation of an entirely new email software should have my computer all the necessary entries for the new program to function properly in all respects. So what's happening? It begins to look as if uninstalling the program Office has pulled something real Vista operating system.

It's a good thing, I thought of the research on other boards for my missing post.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\mailto

    c. in the Edit menu, select new, then clickstring goodwill.

    d. type of Protocol of URL as the name of the new string value

    e. exit the registry editor

You have a common problem of Windows 7. You must set a default e-mail program and Windows 7 did not come with a pre-installed email program.

Unlike Windows XP & Vista, Windows 7 does not include a default email Client. [What were thinking?]

You will need to install a (e.g. MS Outlook;) Windows Live Mail; Thunderbird) , and then set it as a default for mail in CUSTOM (<>) article in Set Program Access and defaults of the computer , then restart your computer before any function send to or MailTo will become available.
