(Windows 2000) Error #0x80072EFE when you try to run Windows/Microsoft Update

Hello world. I hope you don't mind offering support for a Windows 2000 based platform here, (I don't think Windows Update deferred much, if at all between the two operating systems)

In any case, all of a sudden, I get error 0x80072EFE in Windows Update all of a sudden. I tried several troubleshooting steps, delete the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to just reboot my computer. Nothing seems to work, and I hope someone has a step that will be.

The last few lines (which seem to be relevant to the question at issue) are as follows:

Thanks for the support. I got the Asus machine this morning and they have corrected the problem in a few minutes by running a short script. In my view, that it is a common problem with Asus and Western Digital HD. Anyway congratulations to Asus. Here, after the service is impressive.

  • Error ESSLANG when you try to run ESSCMD after migration

    Hello

Migration from 7.x to 11.1.3 and when I try and run ESSCMD I get the below error. It's been a while since I did this so don't know what to do.

    Thank you...

    ESSLANG environment variable not defined

Could not get locale. Please define good environment ESSLANG.

Installs the version 11 do not make path and environmental settings of variables available to all user IDs. I think 9 system and has done before.

I think that the id that installs Essbase becomes the path, arborpath, essbasepath, eas_path, etc environment variables. Has no proof of identity. (The people who actually have a clue regarding the facilities will correct me if I have this wrong.) It's a pain.

I had to put these values manually so that all ID on the server get variables.

Navigate to the startmaxl, the startesscmd, the .cmd files was icing my cookies.

An interesting sidenote, if we try to navigate to update.microsoft.com in a browser, after a long break, we get a banner at the top of Microsoft, and three empty frames all display connection errors.

We tried different DNS servers, we bypassed the firewall, we tried all possible parameters in the network configuration of PCs, we tried to define the parameters of Internet security at the lowest level possible.
At this point, I'm fresh out of ideas.

Any suggestions? Does anyone else have this problem?

  • Error 0x8004231F when you try to run back to the top

I tried some things proposed for this error msg, but my HP Recovery is still red - only 8,01 MB of 5.09 GB free space.  The msg comes not long after the backup starts.  There is nothing in the trash and I uninstalled nearly all unused files.

    Hi Diana,

There are two connected problems here and I tried to solve the easier one first.  My first problem is your point No. 1 - not enough space on the backup location (HP recovery).  I get a popup telling me that I have a disk on HP-recovery space, even if I deleted all external files.  For this reason, I tried to make a backup on DVD, which is when my second problem - the error msg on there is not enough storage space shadow.
I had checked the wires for the solutions to the problem of the second and did something else at the cmd prompt, which checked for problems.

If I do as you suggest won't that make my too big storage?

I'm not good at this computer stuff.  Why can't I just remove everything that is in the recovery of HP?  I don't know what happened to suddenly move the red bar.  HP-recovery is an automatic backup there are too many things I don't understand.

For the moment, I can't afford to pay to get Microsoft to fix the problem.  It will go well if I wait and do nothing, for a month?  Or should I try what you suggested?
