Windows 7 - 0x800704b3 error on installing software Code

I recently bought a new Lapop with Windows 7 installed.

Initial work to install the software successfully until the recent system updates and publishes a copy of the trial of office - factory installed on the computer.  Office has been uninstalled and MS update apears to work OK.  However, subsequent efforts to add other downloads resulted in the above error message and installation interrupted.

Please indicate any solution.

I retried the recommended steps and scan successfully this time.  Report at the end 100%:

"Protection of resources Windows found corrupt files, but could not solve some of them."

"Details at CBS. Journal windir\Logs\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.  for example Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log'

The system returns "access is denied" when you try to read the CBS.log file in the Windows\Logs\CBS directory.

Anyone can help identify and replace the corrupted files.

Now, I believe that files may have been damaged during a file backup process that is not before the end due to the emptying of mobile charge.  Machine left running on battery power instead of feeding in the error...

Other components of the laptop seems to work OK except for the ability to install new software.

Extra effort (20 Oct) with the creation of a new user account and by moving the slider to minimum notice for user account control settings, seems to have contributed to the problem.

New installation of the software now possible...

Thank you for your response. I tried the fix troubleshooting for Win 8 update problems, and the Dism tool via the prompt - without success. According to me, he said he had found corrupt files but could not repair (all). Finally, I used the installation disk, choose the option to save my files, settings and applications. That fixed the problem and I can now be updated successfully.

Previously, McAfee SecurityCenter has been installed on my pc, but it has been replaced by McAfee Total Protectiononce the subscription has expired. [It isunderlining] I remember getting a Norton trial software installed at a given moment, but this has been removed to make room for software McAfee, to ensure that there is no conflict between the programs.

You should have installed McAfee Total Protection before as your McAfee Security Center subscription expires. If you're lucky, the following may solve your problem:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

1B. download the tool McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop:http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. right click on the file that you saved in # 1 above and select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. now run this triple McAfee fix: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

[Note that you you already downloaded the removal tool in my # 1 step b above.] You will restart three times: after uninstalling McAfee Total Protection; After you run the removal tool; and then the reinstallation of McAfee Total Protection.]

    5. after reinstalling McAfee Total Protection, manually & repeatedly update the app until you get a prompt "no update more".

    6. for good measure an another Windows update reset (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058), restart once again & test.

  • Impossible to install KB2656374 - codes missing Windows Installer Error 80070641

original title: lack of Windows Installer

All of a sudden, seems missing Windows Installer. Certainly not in my list of Services. Thus, the last Microsoft Update K2656374 don't settle with error code 80070641 and 641. A few other updates has not as well. This is the first time Microsoft updates failed. I can't install Windows Installer 4.5 (or any other version) because I get an error message that says that it is not for my system. I think it's because he's not here to update. And I can not install software updates with the .msi extension. Can someone tell me how to extract or install Windows Installer?

I use Vista Home Basic SP2 32 bit and have been for several years. It is the first occurrence of this problem. Using Kaspersky Internet security, and in both years.

I'll tell you what has worked for me. Once you have the file "msiserver.reg" on the desktop, right-click. Now, I didn't have an option "Merge" but I got the option 'open '. Then I opened the file using "regedit.exe". You can find it in C:\Windows I think.

I received a confirmation window that my registry would be changed. I said okay Then I got a confirmation that the change was made. I rebooted my computer and looked in "Services" of Windows Installer. And here!
I also discovered that System Mechanic is the culprit in deleting a file in Windows Installer. SO I've excluded from analysis of System Mechanic. So far, I'm good.
