Windows 7 64 bit does not recognize the Seagate Plus 2 TB external hard drive backup

I am unable to get my laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit to recognize my 2 TB Seagate external drive. Seagate tech suggests that I need a chipset driver-whatever that is. I tried many times to install Acronis DiscWizard, but get a fatal error message. I had no problem to install on my desktop and perform the backup. It takes also place W 7 Pro, but 32-bit. Help!

I reformatted the drive on my desktop to make three partitions: one for my office, one for my laptop and a spare part for what I might need to. Then, I downloaded DiscWizard on Seagate website. It works on my desktop, but not my laptop. My laptop is a Vostro 3550 about three years, and I've never had other USB connection problems. I tried all three USB ports and none works. My office is older, about 6 years old.

The error message is the following

Installation failed

Fatal error during installation

When I tried to install DiscWizard. I wonder if the fact that my office is 32 bit and my laptop is 64 bit is a little difference. I installed first DiscWizard on my desk.

My laptop is a Qosmio F60

This is a really silly situation. It can be recognized by other laptops but not your Qosmio.
According to the description of your HARD drive when connected simply doesn t exist for your Qosmio laptop.

Some other HDD is recognized correctly?
What you can try is to reinstall the chipset driver, restart the laptop and test it again.

Since when you have this problem? Some installed updates of the last days?

It's sad to see how Samhrutha answer to the question in this way.

The driver does simply not good.
The only option to address this situation in the meantime a driver that works, disable features in ' Configure, Advanced tab "on the actual card.
Different properties exist here. Try to enable / disable some of them. It helped for me on Win7 x 64 ASUS MB.

  • Computer laptop (Vista) does not take account any new working USB external hard drive

Hello, I'm under the latest version of Windows Vista Edition Home Premium on a Dell XPS M1210 and spin in the problems with the connection of my second USB external hard drive. In other words, when I plug the drive (a Seagate expansion 1 TB), nothing happens. Literally nothing, no notification of installation of the driver, no sound is played stating that the system recognized the device, no new entry in post working or disk management. I connected this drive on another computer running Windows 7 and it worked without a problem, so I do not suspect the problem to lie in the hard drive, but with my computer. My other external hard drive USB, a Maxtor Basics Portable 250 GB, works perfectly, but there more than two years. I bought the 1 TB Seagate as a backup and an upgrade, but I plan to go back now that there is nothing more than a big black Clipboard with a green LED clear too much room. What can I do about it?

    Hello

Most likely, there is not enough power for the USB port of your machine to the external device do recognize. As a test I would have you test the issue on another USB plug.

I recommend you contact you either OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) or the manufacturer of the motherboard if it is a machine of casting House and get the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard.

  • Windows 7 32 bit does not recognize 4 GB of RAM

I just bought a new w500 with windows 7 32-bit and 4 GB of RAM, I know that windows 7 32 bit must be able to work with 4 GB of RAM, but when I check the Windows System Control Panel 7, he said: installed memory 4 GB, usable memory 2.46).

When I check my setting of the video adapter it says 512 MB dedicated memory and 1024 MB shared memory.

I don't really know what to do, I don't know I used the 4 GB ram with windows Vista Ultimate before and it was OK.

He was everything to solve this problem? Do I have to install a 64-bit version of my windows 7 pro?

If I is there a way I can install it with the serial number supplied with my laptop, so I don't have to buy a new version of windows, I've just will download and install a 64-bit version of windows 7.

-Besides, I'm not 100% sure, but when I got the laptop, on the Panel of the system, he showed that he uses all the 4 GB of ram, after 1 day of use and when all Thinkpad and microsoft drivers updates have been installed, what happened.

now, just please help me and tell me what I need to do?

You probably need to transfer activation with something like ABR unless the key works for both versions now. Retail Vista keys worked for 32 and 64 bit version but haven't Lenovos OEM key.

Regarding your 2.46 GB of ram - I the only thing that indicate is that Windows is telling you the truth its time. There is no way any 32-bit system can use full 4 GB. Information system in Vista have generally shown only to installed RAM without showing the usable memory. They fixed in Windows 7, and now, he can tell you the exact amount can be used. But that doesn't change anything but your taking of consciousness of the fact.

Oh and when I was using Vista 32 it showed the / 3 gb in a first time and then went down to 2.46 I was installing graphic drivers. Switchable graphics driver supposedly did this and some users have reported that uninstalling / installing different drivers, but I prefer to install windows 64-bit for peace of mind.

  • The thought of Garland two external hard drive backup

At the present time, due to the size of my photo database (catalogue), I work on an external drive of the company and do not use the hard drive of my computer for storage. I think, for a backup, I should probably pipe another external drive that I have and use it as a backup.

Looking for input on this before you go out and buy a disc, has this logic of common sense?

If you work in this way, I would like to hear about it.

Not seen with USB, but is fairly common with FireWire 400 and 800. In fact, it is the only way to connect several FireWire drives the latest range of MacBook Pro.

Convenience store detected library corrupt and "in media files appear in the WMP library.  Then ran convenience store on WMP settings which reset OMP to default settings.  After that, everything worked as announced.

  • Windows 7 does not recognize the installation discs

    Hello

I have a problem, and I don't know if there is a solution, but here goes.

My laptop is a HP DV6-7029WM Windows 7, 64 bit.

The hard drive was dead, and he was replaced last month.  I sent it to HP.  C is the hard drive, and was originally the recovery on D. Removable media were on E, and when I connected a USB stick or memory card reader it would on F.

When I came back, hard drive was on C as it was originally, and there was no recovery drive D. D is now my removable media drive. When I put in a USB stick or a memory card reader, which is now on the E drive.

After I bought this, I put the recovery on a USB key, but I've accidentally thrown out. (My mistake) So I ordered the installation diskettes after that I return my HP PC.  I had 2 DVD system recovery disks and an Application and a recovery DVD Drivery.

I want to reinstall Windows back to the default settings. I put disc 1 (System Recovery DVD) and close.  I reboot and it goes directly to the office. I hear the whirring disc, but nothing happens.

I go to the control panel > Recovery > advanced retrieval methods. I click on restart, and it loads files and then says DVD set, which I do. He told me that he does not recognize the installation disc.

I googled this problem and found a poster on CNET that had the same problem as I do. Also, I can't do a system restore.  My problem is the same as this poster on CNET.  I can read DVDs and CDs.  Those that work very well.

    http://forums.CNET.com/7723-19411_102-568059/Windows-7-installation-disc-not-recognized/

The files are on the DVD, because I see them.

I don't know what to do. Should I send my PC back? Can I do to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    pen

    Hello:

With recovery disc 1 into the DVD drive, restart the computer and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, press the ESC key to display a menu of options.

Select the F9 boot menu option.

Select the DVD drive on the list of bootable devices, and press the Enter key.

Watch the screen for additional instructions.

  • Windows does not recognize the .themepack files

    Hello

Microsoft, I downloaded several .themepack files.  I have Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit), and it does not recognize the files.  In other words, when I click on the files, they do not open and install.

" Strangely, when I click the .themepack file properties, it says"Opens with"the" Windows Shell common DLL. "Still more strangely, when I go in the file Extensions Manager in Control Panel, the .themepack extension does not appear.

I tried to reboot, etc.  Is there a way to fix this?  Otherwise, there is a long workaround solution that I can do to get funds from the .themepack file and install it manually?

    Hi harpsichord,.

    Can you check something:

    1. Press the Windows key + R > type regedit and press enter
    2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.themepack
    3. Make sure that there is no key UserChoice (subfolder)
