Hello

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you have NEVER
on this machine, including those you have uninstalled (they leave leftovers behind which can cause
strange problems).

Follow these steps:

Try these to erase corruption and missing/damaged file system repair or replacement.

Start - type this in the search box-> find COMMAND at the top and RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods above
It is preferable to ensure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

Refer to these discussions because many more excellent advice however don't forget to check your antivirus
programs, the main drivers and BIOS update and also solve the problems with the cleanboot method

  • Windows 7 64-bit mouse pauses/freezes/stutters often accompanied by an event sound Windows

    Symptoms:

Erratic mouse behavior. Mouse hanging, the gel for a full second or more, accompanied by a Windows event sound, generally. Sometimes, there is just a slight pause and no noise Windows event. Sometimes the mouse acceleration changes after freezing. Sometimes, more rarely, my mouse will be dropped by the operating system... the laser light on the underside turns off and I have to unplug the mouse and plug it in again so he can be recognized.

Steps in my last attempt to solve the problem.

I was looking not all parameters of the BIOS at once at the beginning. For example, I have disabled "Intel Speedstep" to see if that would solve the question. Then restarted in BIOS and disabled the C1E function when I discovered that disabling Speedstep alone does not resolve the issue. ECT, ect...

I have not installed Norton Internet Security 2010 for awhile while I tried various solutions of Workaround available and listed below in case this is the question. No difference, so NIS 2010 is now installed.

Remember, that this behavior occurs that when Windows 7 64 bit is installed properly.

I decided to not install these due to a mistake of "Circular kernel context logger" that I already saw in the viewer of the event log, recorded by "Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing" event ID: 2 now, I'm not having this issue.

NOTE: I also installed a driver in option, the ACPI ATK110 driver, which installs the following file--> C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ASACPI.sys - he has listed as the version of the file 1043.2.15.37 and dated 29/03/2005. Hello again,

Can I have found the solution that worked for me. It is probably too early to tell, I'll need more time to be sure. But in case he solved the problem for me, I'll post what seems to have worked as suggested on a post, I came across from another forum. Consider a guy who tried many suggestions, maybe that's the answer. Heck, I had tried a few other things that I have said in my original post. But in any case, so far, my system and mouse seem to work very well on the desktop for the last hour and a half. I have not tried yet game.

    (1) uninstall the Windows Update KB977074 (January 2010 stability and reliability update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2).

    (2) reboot and leave your system for a couple / few minutes after the restart.

    (3) just in case... Restart again, and then reinstall the KB977074.

    (4) restart to complete the installation.

  • Sims 2 questions on Windows 7 (64 bit) - black screen when starting the game

Questions of title: Sims 2 original on Windows 7 (64-bit)

The compatibility for Windows 7 thing, says that the Sims 2 and all the expansions will run in Windows 7.

When I installed in fact all games Sims 2 on my laptop, however, the game does not start.

I click on the game, opened upward, and I just get a black screen, causing me to have to restart the entire system.

I tried to run in compatibility mode, which was a no-go. EA customer support asked me to update my drivers, I did. Because none of this worked, I guess that's another problem in Windows 7, so it would be great if I could get a solution to this problem!

Anyone else facing this problem? All solutions?

If you see that the problem is solved by turning off OpenGL, this could be a case where the OpenGL activation again and change a setting of different OpenGL "Advanced" mode may help.

I suggest this because I know that Photoshop color management in many different ways, according to OpenGL capabilities (and possibly the settings, I'm not sure of the part). Maybe a different mode (for example, 'Basic') will allow you to use OpenGL improvements and always adjust your colors.

In addition, as it is always recommended, make sure you search video drivers updated on the web site of the manufacturer of your video card.

Kaspersky could easily be the problem. Disable it simply will not stop it from loading songs of
itself so its best to uninstall. Uninstall, and then run the tool of suppression and/or special instructions
prevent the remnants left that can cause strange problems. Recommendations for use while
    tests, even better permanently.

    ------------------------------

Here's what I use and recommend: (these are all free and very effective versions.)

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leaving Standard, Web, and
    Operation of the network.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
    right of IE)

Two versions of Avast are available 5.x and 4.8 x

Avast - home - free - 5.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
    disabled - click OK

Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
    Finish those you don't use).

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows 7 32-Bit, my PC freezes randomly and lagging.

Since I turned off my computer by pressing the power button, it started to freeze during execution of programs. I have to go to Safe Mode and restart my PC x 3 to be able to run my PC smoothly. Help, please!

Blocking by using the btn pwr is not the proper way to shut down a PC, you use the start > Shutdown to win first

  • My new Windows 7/64 bit computer Dell freezes after being idle for 20-30 minutes

    Some basic information:
    (a) my laptop is brand new, I bought it less than a month ago and I started experiencing this problem in the beginning, very annoying.
    (b) my laptop freezes after inactivity for 20-30 minutes, I have to remove the power cable and reconnect it to restart the computer
    (c) the freezing happens daily when I have access to the Internet with Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, no difference between these two.
    (d) I have Windows 7 Home Premimum with the latest updates.
    (e) I get no error message when the computer freezes, it freezes only when idle, as when I leave my computer for 20-30 minutes
    (f) I ran the disk check, I did the clean boot and I have configured the power setting, but the problem persists.

Can someone help me? I searched this problem on the Internet and it seems to be a common problem with Windows 7. I've never had such problems with my previous computers with Windows XP and Windows Vista.

    This isn't a common problem.

Do you have what programs or utilities maintenance installed?

This external devices you have connected?

Using Dell DataSafe? If not, uninstall

Do you wrong used windows update to install the recommended updates, as apposed to important updates?

  • The Photoshop window is larger than my screen. Why?

With 6 CS recently when I open an image in Photoshop it appears in the center of the window with the 0 reading on the sovereign inset from the top a bottom. The problem is that the window is running way below and the bottom of my screen and I can't access the horizontal slider to move the image that I increase its size. I think having accidentally put the computer in a way that I don't want and can't use. How can I get that back as it was with the horizonzontal accessible slider? Robert Hersey

You can click on the window icon expand? I do not know what operating system you are using, but with Windows, it is in the upper right. Click on and off then a couple and see if that helps. You can also try clicking on the menu bar, drag the window down, grabbing a corner and resize the window, then move it to the top. You can also try setting your monitor at a higher resolution, then you might be able to see the entire screen to resize.

    Hi mkm.

Were there any hardware or software changes made at the time the blue screen appeared?

I suggest to close the PC and remove all devices in addition to the screen, the keyboard and the mouse.

If the computer works without a blue screen for a reasonable period of time, you can start to add them one at a time to see if a specific device that is causing the error back.

  • Pavilion dv7-6163us windows 7 64-bit, the screen brightness will not adjust

I reinstalled the latest graphics driver, the latest version of the BIOS and I still cannot adjust the brightness of the screens (screen).

The indicator appears but is grey.

    Thanks for any help, Paul

Update on the screen brightness controls; went into the BIOS and reset on off action keys.

Restarted and there was no change.

I then uninstalled the drivers for the monitor and rebooted and the brightness setting now works again.

Thank you all, Todd especially for assistance.

  • avilion m8187c: screen freeze

I recently met a screen occurring randomly gel that is unresponsive to attempts to open the Task Manager. The only recourse that I seem to have is manually shut down the computer, and then restart. The computer is usually very well for the rest of the session. Reliability: remarks her abrupt closed but does not show the defects/failures of hardware or software. My biggest concern is for the damage to the switching device it works (even with a minute or two between the two). I also want to avoid the interruption of the annying.

I have no idea what to do to solve this problem. Good help would be really appreciated.

    Hi there @webbww

I understand that you get random screen freeze, and that your computer is not responding at all to force a manual close. I'm happy to help you with this.

Here is a page that covers a range of things for you to try in this case, try to isolate the cause. Ideally, you can have this page available on a different device when your screen freezes on you so that you can scroll through what to try. HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Windows Vista crashes, freezes, or a blue error screen opens

I would like to know if that helps at all.

  • Pavilion G7 computer screen freezes & restarts

This week, my laptop has suffered from random screen freezes and sudden reboots. He had arrived a month ago, but it went away. Unfortunately, he's back.

It happened while I play video games, LoL, terrariums, Team Fortress 2, etc. The screen freezes in a hazy chaos or the laptop restarts automatically. I was monitoring the temperature, the virus of all, the hardware reset and nothing has worked so far.

I managed to take a picture of the most recent gel and it is what looks like on-screen:

This gel and I need to manually close the laptop. Please help me, it really starts to annoy me.

    Tounsiiaa you for your attention.

Thanks for the reply! Have you tried to run hardware diagnostics as in my previous thread? Also, according to the symptoms you stated above, please try the steps in the following document:

Ee computer restarts unexpectedly (Windows 7)

Computer hangs or freezes (Windows 7)

If these steps do not resolve the problem, I would contact HP support at the service of the product. You can use this Web site for information about how to contact HP properly, based on your region: Contact HP worldwide
