Windows 7 Beta now Vista SP2 make ipod synchronization impossible.

I arrived at the time when I was running Windows 7 Beta and now it happened again after that I went back to Vista, but installed SP2 this morning.

iTunes takes 30secs-5 minutes to synchronize a track to an iPod. After rolling back to SP1 it works fine again. I scoured the Internet looking for people with similar problems but could find only a few, with no solutions. What is - this on these updates that are breaking iTunes on my PC?

Jim,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with W7 and sync to iTunes.  Personally, I use Vista and W7 and am an avid itunes user and have yet to see a problem.  You can check out the Windows 7 forum to microsoft.com/springboard, may there are some information about compatibility with your system, please keep in mind, if your system is stable before, and you have the Vista drivers they will work with Windows 7, so you can get back at them.
Thank you

    Check if you have errors associated with updates?

    1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programs and then click Windows Update.
    2. In the left pane, click view update history.
    3. Find an update for Windows that has failed to install, and then double-click the update to view more information. Updates that have failed to install will display failed under status, next to the name of update.
    4. In the Windows Update dialog box, next to the details of the error, review the error code for the update has failed.
    5. Follow the links in the dialog Windows Update under more information or help and Support to try to solve the problem, then try to reinstall the update by using Windows Update in Control Panel or to display error codes/messages and maybe someone may be able to help others.

    Hello

    What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you ALREADY had on this
    machine, including those you have uninstalled (they leave leftovers behind which can cause strange problems).

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Part of the problem is probably SpyBot which can greatly affect the peformance IE and Vista/Windows 7.

    Start - type in the search box-> find Services at top - click right on - RUN AS ADMIN

    Double-click Service SBSD and change it to MANUAL and STOP

    Then run SpyBot and in settings uncheck TeaTimer - close and restart.

    Now you can run SpyBot as a scanner at the request.

  • Not able to boot after that windows update, just trying to install the number 3 setting 3, and then restart the computer. With the help of Windows Vista SP2

    Friday morning I wasn't able to boot my computer more. When I start my computer it won't seek to set a parameter nr 3 of 3. And then it restarts again. My computer tried to install some windows update settings the day before with no success. I Don t remember what it was. I got Vista SP2

    The same problem happends to my computer from friends four days, after she start a windows update installation. But it has solved its problem by using the Windows installation CD and use the repair tool.

    For me, my Windows installation CD I got from Dell does not work. Not the tool repair or startreparation. And I have no reference system to return.

    What should I do? I don't want to reinstall windows again, I have a lot of information on the computer I need to.

    All the world has noticed this problem?

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    See you soon.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
    As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista repair disc.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    There is not a disk of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    If the ISP above Mathods to solve your problems, save your data using one of the methods below, and then reinstall Windows:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
    Download the Vista software from the link above.
    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1 in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
    See you soon.
  • Error 0x8007045D when you try to install Windows Vista SP2
    Hello
    Currently I have Windows Vista SP1 and want to upgrade to service pack 2. When I try to do the update of Windows, I get "error (0x8007045d) Error_IO_DEVICE. I also tried to install it in safe mode, I get the same error message. After having traveled a bit on the internet, I found that it is probably because my HDD is damaged... so I run the chkdsk program...
    The chkdsk program stops at 16%... Step 4 of 5... When 85785 files off 300000something files are done... and it does nothing more. It keep running like this all night, it goes no further.
    Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do to successfully install Windows Vista SP2?
    Thanks for your help!
    OK, I started the computer with the Windows CD and I ran chkdsk /f at a command prompt.
    Chkdsk /f found errors it corrects.
    I ran Chkdsk/r... .he got stuck after scanning 85763 files... near the place, he would always get stuck (85785 files)... so I guess it's the same file that crashes chkdsk.
    The good news: I still have a functioning computer.
    The bad news is that I ran the SP2 from windows update in new safe mode and it didn't work... I'm still stuck with my problem.
    I have an extra hard drive... that I ordered from Dell for my girlfriend's computer, his computer died before she could use the player, but it is larger, then the drive of your computer and it is brand new... the only downside is that the player has been implemented for the computer of my girlfriend (pilots and other things) and does not work in my computer. I guess I'll try to format that drive to make it work in my computer... it should fix this and then bad SP2 remedial power very well.
    I guess I have no choice.
    I suggest to remove avg (uninstall) then try sfc/scannow then chkdsk /f several times. a few times, they need more going to make things more
    Microsoft security essentials is a better a v for not update couseing problems.
    You can allways put avg in the back.
    not having is not enouph to free space for temporary files can couse problems too.
  • Can't send emails using Windows Mail on Vista SP2
    I am running Windows Mail on Vista SP2. I hv set up one account using POP with a supplier's existing PSI (not the one I use). Able to read and send messages. He stopped working for the send now option. Get updates warned miss the numeric identifiers and, finally, an error: the connection to the server has failed. Are subject: join my network on LinkedIn', account: ' ', server: 'smtp.iprimus.com.au', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, secure (SSL): no, Socket error: 10060, error number: 0x800CCC0E. E-mail messages remain in the Outbox and Inbox update regularly.
    I'm not sure of what is a provider of 'hope', but if you try to send via an SMTP server that does belong not to the Internet provider to which you are connected, then it will be probably blocked.  Many vendors have a mechanism to overcome that, but you must check with the individual POP3 provider to determine the port numbers and other settings to enable the SMTP protocol work (this is to avoid spam).
    I don't know if this will help or not, but if you can send the same email as your Internet service provider and may not by another, then this is probably the reason.
    Make sure you also deleted you account, closed and reopened Winmail opener and then added it again (or add another copy of the same account) to ensure that something is not altered in these settings.
  • "Not enough space" error windows install during the installation of Windows vista SP2 software
    Original title - cannot install Windows Installer 3.1 on Windows Vista Home Edition
    I use windows vista home with service pack 2 installed. I have a custom made software. Before installing this software, I need to install 4 i.e. cystal reports, dotnet, report viewer and Windows Installer 3. I was able to install the first 3, but the windows installer fails, it is said to be "saturated". I also tried MSI 4.5 but of no use. My software runs well on Windows XP. The interesting thing is that I return this software a year and I installed it on vista and it worked fine. Now I have re-installed windows vista on my computer and had updated. Now this problem. Could there be a reason why some update to windows vista, I installed now wasn't there last year that causes the problem. Can anyone help.
    Hi tbilal22
    Windows Installer 4.5 comes pre-installed with Windows Vista and Windows Vista SP1. Please refer to the article for more information-
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/942288
    It is possible that the old software, it is not compatible to be used with Windows Vista SP2. I suggest you try software installation by using the Windows Vista or XP on Windows Vists SP2 compatibility mode and check if you are able to solve the problem.
    Compatibility mode is used if a program written for an earlier version of Windows does not work properly. Then, you can use the program compatibility Wizard to change the compatibility of the program settings. To manually change the settings of a program, use the individual program's compatibility tab
    You can check the link for assistance on compatibility mode - mentioned below
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows
    Or you can try this:
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    And here's the General information regarding the use of the recovery disk:

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then restart with the recovery in the drive disc.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    See you soon.

  • Impossible to install Flash or Acrobat Reader, nothing happens, no errors on windows vista sp2

    I have two Dell laptops, one was my mother and the other is mine (Inspiron 15xx and 1750).  I deleted down two laptops using the restore factory images stored on computers.  I want that they fully working before I sell them or given the to a friend or relative.

    When I try to install Flash or Acrobat Reader, I first download and then run the installation program and then nothing happens, no screen of welcome, no please, wait or loading... dialog box, no error message, just absolutely nothing.

    I am a programmer with a degree in computer programming and I built my own computer, reinstalled, installed drivers, software and firmware, so I thought I should be able to solve this problem, but as the still I had no luck so far.

    I have:

    (1) installed all Windows updates

    (2) installed Windows Vista SP2

    (3) installed the updates of BIOS, drivers, software and firmware from Dell.

    (4) installed the last IE v7 to v9 present. (This fixes my problem to Skype "Sorry, we couldn't connect to Skype")

    (5) installed the latest Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistribution.

    (6) searched on the internet for the solution and followed a few steps that I thought looked promising but no solution so far.

    (7) I checked the logs install but they are empty either, I can't find the directory, or there is no log file here.

    For me the main problem is that I don't get any information, i.e. None of the error messages or logs, which makes it very difficult to seek solutions that are specific to my problems.  Anyone who can help me to identify the problem, it is find a mistake or a newspaper that shows where the problem is, would help me tremendously and close me solve the problem.

    I think I need to install some type of update will miraculously fix the problem, as point 4 above, where IE upgrade to v 9 fixed my problem of Skype, but I have no idea what it would be.

    Thank you in advance for all help me and I hope that this forum will help others.

    Thanks Abzyx.

    I use Firefox all the time and I would have downloaded Flash while in Firefox, but the download never worked.  The only solution that worked for me was what I mentioned in the post above (message number 7).

    Yes your right, I did not mention on the PDF reader, thanks for pointing that out.

    I noticed that you mentioned using another like Sumatra PDF reader, so I had to look that.

    I found that Nitro and Sumatra where 2 alternatives to Adobe Acrobat Reader.  Nitro looked like a more advanced system, but it does not work.  Sumatra seems simpler, but as PDF readers go, if I can read a PDF file, which is fine for me, Sumatra has worked well.

    Research on the internet I found a video that has been really good for my problem.  I'm looking for 'acrobat reader vista' and the 4 down link was a youtube video called "Install Adobe Reader in Windows Vista" on the page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wAki19nDSY

    After you follow the instructions in the video, I am Acrobat works.

    Basically, I went to the URL of the video: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/

    Then try to find the most recent version, so I tried 11.0.16, but this does not work, the video shows using 10.0.0, so I thought I would try to use 11.0.0 and if this does not work, try the version 10.0.0.  I found version 11.0.0 worked for me then once installed, I checked for update in Acrobat Reader and now I 11.0.8 and this seems to be the best version of work for my computer.

    Thank you again Abzyx and everyone who help me by posting your comments.  By studying what has been mentioned, internet search and try different installers and more clear, I found what I was looking for.
