Help, paul

Figured it out.  McAfee says, right now, they have a running on Window7 64 bit compatibility issue.  They had me uninstall McAfee and they say they will have a patch in in a week or two.

So happy that I moved to McAfee Norton!  I'm being sarcastic.

  • Windows fails to load after installing an update

    Installed cumulative KB972260 for IE7 for Windows Vista security update this morning on my laptop Dell running Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  After installation choose reboot and the computer fails to load up.  Changed the restore point to the last use of the 22/07/09 and still have the same problem.  When checking why it breaks down I got a verification of the System Restore Failed error 0 x 490 and also system file integrity check and repair does not = 0 error code x 490.

    I am at a loss?

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above fails, try this:
    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
    As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista repair disc.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    There is not a disk of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
I installed v4.5 installer that allows enabling or disabling updates. Paint Shop appears but the box is not checked, so the installer must ignore, right?
    Hello
    Yes, you can remove it.
    But the Adobe folder that you want to remove is actually the Acrobat installer. So you could save to another location so that if in the future, you need to re - install the software, there is no need to download the entire product.
  • Windows 7 fresh install (Via Recovery) SP1 installs OK - no update will after install. Update crashes.
    I have an older HP DM4 with pre insalled Windows Home Premium 64-bit installed.  The computer was perfect until I chose to do the free update of Windows 10.  The upgrade was very laggy so I decided to make a recovery of the system to Windows 7 since the partition.
    The recovery was working fine.  I registered in windows 7.  Downloaded the update has been invited to install the SP1, I did.  After installing SP1, it asked me to update from Microsoft Update.  What I did.  Once I click on "Check for Updates", and it does.  However, it is this. The green bar just hangs.  I waited all night and still nothing.
    Therefore, I have reinstalled windows via recovery again option.  No luck... I searched the forums, deleted the files the forums told me to delete, deleted newspapers, ran a convenience store, disabled services.  Yet.  No luck.
    I just reinstalled Windows 7 using the minimum version of HP.  Installs just the operating system and drivers necessary.  Yet.  The same problem. I have run CHKDSK, I downloaded the latest update of Windows.  Ive tried the ' turn windows manual update, reboot, turn back to auto restart. " Nothing.
    Help, please... I got lost.  I can usually fix anything... This time I ask your help...
    Thank you...
    I installed Windows once more.  Install the critical updates.  Install the Windows SP1.  This time you click on "Check for Update of Windows.  Waited for quite awhile.  Downloaded Malwarebytes.  Installed, he ran.  As Malwarebytes scan a 240 windows updates popped up.  Finally.  It worked! I am now completely updated and back on track. No, I don't think that Malwarebytes had nothing to do.  I also know that it was a new facility so Malwarebytes was not necessary.  I thought that my score could have a bug or something.  I'm just happy that it worked.  I'm sorry that I have no 'official' solution, especially for those who still have this problem.  Thanks for the reply.
  • Microsoft Vista Basic crashed after installing 12 updates!
    4 days ago my computer did an automatic update from microsoft, and it restarts itself. She has been reset every 30 seconds, and it seems stuck in a loop. My computer is Compaq Presario 500 with Vista Home Basic. I see loading windows (and it is cut with a blue screen (it flashes only, I can't read whats written on it), then Compaq symbol lights up, then it takes me to a page that says Windows error.)  My choices were safe mode, safe mode w networking or normal.  When I choose Safe mode, it me makes a loop to restart the screen... I get windows, quick blue screen, then, compaq, then, choice of start (normal, safe mode, safe mode with networking, etc..).  The work of the bios but return to default status does nothing - and when I hit save, it brings back me to the loop.
    I see the message: start/memtest. exe... status is 0xc000000d and shows the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or damaged.
    another message says Unmoutnable_boot-volume. 0x0x0xxxxED; 0x835ff188, 0xc000014f, 0x00000000
    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .
    There is no Vista free download legal available.
    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
    They will tell you how to do this.
    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
