  You say you use XP.  What is your question?  What do you mean 'conflicts with Vista?

  I suggest recovery discs you order from HP for your computer.  If HP is no longer the issue of stocks you can order such a third of Recovery - Disks.com.  There are several of these companies.  If you are going to use XP, you need to install XP from scratch and this means that you need XP drivers for your brand and model.  If HP has no XP drivers on your computer you must not try to use XP on it.

  Remember that Vista Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate out of Microsoft support on 10 April and there will be more updates, including critical security patches after that date.  Only Vista business and company will continue to receive updates.  You might consider this a good time to upgrade to Windows 7.  You must download and run the Windows Update Advisor once you restored Vista successfully.

  If you found problems with print quality with the only printer without printing from the computer, then it is a hardware problem.

  You may need to contact HP (1800-474-6836) support. Looks like a print head may be bad or needs to be cleaned manually. I don't think that this printer has a detachable printhead to clean manually.

  You can try the following steps and check.

  Step 1:

  You can check the status of the time service Windows. If it is started, stop the service and restart and check if it makes a difference.

  a. Click Start, type services.msc and press ENTER.

  b. look for Windows Time.

  c. If began to stop the service and then right-click and select restart.

  d. restart the computer and check.

  If you're still having problems, then check if the system is properly set in the BIOS (Basic Input/output System) and check the settings for the correct time on Windows.
  Step 2: Correct the BIOS settings of date and time

  b. correct the time and date
  c. save the settings and exit the BIOS.

I downloaded a NEW multimedia player of BS to WWW.filehippo.com/download bsplayer/8842/who worked for the media BS player. I got help with THAT download to get, I got the SECOND version listed on the left column. Now works on computer, next step is to get the "firmware" for Panasonic download on my dvd player, and it will play as well.
