Windows 7 does not detect not USB flash drive

Hi, any help much appreciated on this. Windows 7 does not detect USB flash drives on my laptop. I know that readers of work on other computers and all the USB ports. He does not play sound when plugged in the first time and does not anywhere on my computer. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Assuming that you have several disks that work on other computers...

If you have tried several USB drives on the same port

AND

This port does not recognize the USB device plugged in, while the port is not operational.

IF

All ports respond in the same way

THEN

You don't have either not installed the correct drivers

OR they did not physically.

  • Windows 7 does not assign a drive letter

Windows does not automatically assign a drive letter to one of my discs usb hard or flash drives, if I go into disk management utility disk is still sitting there in line and assets and all I have to do is right click and assign a drive letter and everything works as usual. • historical files Windows 8 does not recognize my drive hard iomega

I have problems with the historical establishment of files to back up my files, because the program does not recognize my Iomega portable hard drive.

I get this error message whenever I try to backup the files.

Historical files does not recognize this player!

They appear in the my computer list and I can drag and drop files it, all right.

    Any ideas?

OK, I cracked now the problem of the history files do not recognize my USB external, even if the drive expansion drive had worked initially and he was behaving normally in the file Explorer. Here is how I have it done - it worked for me on my PC - maybe it will work for others.

    1. open the file history, and then click Select Drive. Select a different drive than the one that fails to be recognized. (If necessary add a HARD extra internal drive to your PC. If you have a laptop you can try adding an extra USB drive to a different USB port - I have not tried). Continue to set up the history of the files on the new disk. Then turn off historic files on the new drive so that a whole bunch of files are not transferred.

    2. go on the external USB drive that has not been recognized, find the folder of the file history, and rename it to "File History.old" or remove it.

    3. go to your C:\Users\your user folder\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows, find the folder of the file history and rename "File History.old" or remove it.

4 re - open history file, click Select drive and select the original USB key that was not recognized. The player must now be implemented normally and begin to function.

5 remove the folder from the file history on the hot spare used in procedure 1. above.

The process described above is relevant to situations where people can change drive letters by adding or removing disks or the system of travel between readers and for this reason the history of files configuration files are pointing to the wrong drive.

  • Windows 8 does not recognize DVD drive

Hello world. I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate for Windows 8 Pro, my laptop HP Pavilion 1287la g4, 64-bit. I used a Windows 8 Pro DVD to upgrade, everything was going well after the upgrade as fully recognized pilots, tool integration, and all my personal files were saved.

The only problem I found is that after the upgrade of the DVD drive is not recognized. It actually isn't even in the devices. I contacted Hp and they were able to help me make the drive detectable, but now I see that the icon of the DVD in the devices shows a yellow warning, which means that the driver of this material is not found or is corrupted. I did everything that I can to search for the driver, but still the BONE says it's updated with a generic driver. However, the reader does not always show upward. Please help with a better solution. I really like Windows 8 and I don't want to go back and upgrade to Windows 7 again. Thanks in advance.

    Try the following steps:

    1. run the command as administrator prompt. Type cmd in Windows 8 modern user interface and press HUMINT + shift + enter

2 type following and say enter

    Reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" / f/v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

    3. reboot the system

  • Windows 7 does not see SATA drive

I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and now cannot access the SATA drive that I use for storage. I desperately need help to access this drive.

    Any help will be appreciated.

I've seen suggestions on the use of upgrade instead of the custom installation, but upgrade XP to 7 is not available.

It doesn't matter anymore that I managed to blow a capacitor on the motherboard and had to replace the guts of the machine. The new motherboard had no problem see the SATA drive. Of course, he can't see that the IDE drives so I traded one problem for another.

With all this, I made a whole new computer, which I'm sure that will soon show it's own set of problems.

Thanks for the help. And you can mark this resolved.

I hope this helps someone. I have a Dell XPS 8700 with 8.1 Win 64 bit on an SSD. As everyone knows the drivers Canon 9950f only go up to Win 7 64 bit. So I installed the twain driver for win 7 64 bit and the Canoscan for win 7 64 bit. I installed using the compatibility option. I rebooted and plugged my USB and it works! I love my 9950f and stressed it would not work on my new computer.

  • Portege M400 - Windows 7 does not see HARD drive

Hi, I have the problem, I am trying to install Windows 7 on my M400, but he didn't see the hard drive.
The hard drive is surly ok, ' couse I tested it in the other netbook, I can see it in the BIOS, but any program installation can not.

(I tried both Ubuntu and XP Tablet Edition)

    Hi Radzik,

I think that Windows doesn't see the drive HARD due missing RAID drivers Windows needs of these RAID drivers before you can install it because it doesn t contain these drivers for the disk HARD is not recognized. You can download the RAID driver from Toshiba Web site.

You can then create a new installation disc using nLite with drivers or copy the drivers on an external floppy drive. Start Windows XP after you press F6 to load drivers from floppy drive.

    Check this box!

  • Satellite U300 - Windows XP does not see HARD drive

    Hello

I've updated the BIOS with the latest version, I've built a floppy with the SATA drivers, none of them work, XP Setup is not able to recognize the HD.

Surprisingly enough the BIOS SATA mode option can not be seen.

    Any idea?

    Kind regards

    Hello

Not all BIOS contains the SATA option!
In your case, I recommend the construction of a new CD of Windows XP by using the nLite.
nLite is a free tool and allows you to include the SATA dirvers in the Win XP CD!

Then you can use the new XP disk to start and new installation of the OS

Search here in the forum! There is enough discussion on this procedure

  • Cannot access a Windows 7 upgrade USB flash drive

Upgrade from Vista basic to Windows 7 Home Premium computer accepts flash drive but I can't access it. It is correctly stated in devices & Printers but not in my computer as a lettered drive. Read jasmith31 problem, but do not have a Security tab in properties. No error other than "installed device driver. Help please

    Hi lakeside71,

This problem mainly occurs when windows 7 does not assign a drive letter for your USB drive. It occurs especially with the new flash drives connected to the computer for the first time. Assigning a new drive as such letter should solve the problem.

Please follow the steps in the article posted by Shekhar on how to achieve this.

    This should be it.

I've demoted installed Windows 7 with Flash Drive but I need help. Windows 7 doesn't read my Flash drive more? He can read my USB keyboard but does not read a USB Flash drive.

I have no Internet on the computer, so that means I can not update my drivers. And I have a few drivers in my flash drive I want to install, but I can't.

    I read this: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/HP-ENVY-TouchSmart-15-j040us/td...

It not me any more because I can't access my USB drivers

    Hello:

Looking at your other posts it seems that you have yourself painted in a corner.

Since there is no inheritance or the setting USB auto in the BIOS, your only option would be to remove the hard drive, then put it in a USB drive enclosure sata hard laptop, plug in another PC so it can be read, download the drivers there, you need and copy to you user profile on the hard drive removed.

Chapter 5 maintenance manual provides the procedures of withdrawal and replacement for the hard drive.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03733656

Reinstall the hard drive, run the drivers, and you should be good to go.

These would be the drivers you need for your model...
