  • Windows 7 - error code: 80070246 (cannot install updates)

Original title: Windows 7 update has failed.

I have 10 updates that must be installed, and it continues to fail. I get the error code 80070246. I tried a .net removal fix suggested in another post, rename c:\windows\softwaredistribution, manually download the updates (which also failed), sfc/scannow have produced no results... The updates that I need to install are: KB982381, KB981078, KB982526, KB982670, KB982526, KB982670, KB978542, KB78601, KB79482, KB980218, KB971033, KB980408, KB980846 and KB981793. I tried the update of windows running as administrator thus (the account I use has administrative privileges). Pre-release candidate seems to work perfectly. Since it expired and I had to buy a copy of Windows 7, I had problems. Why this version would not work as well as pre-release?

OK, so thank you to Alex blood Support technique Microsoft. The solution to my fixing corrupt system files was to run the installation on my Windows DVD install and choose the option 'Upgrade. ' I backed up all my documents in case where, but my system remained intact. I didn't format my hard drive and reinstall Windows, so I am grateful that this solution worked. I just someone would wish he suggested earlier.

Last update was right on 18/06/2010 and for some Win7 updates are blocked or I get this error 80072EFE code.  I bought a registry Fixer that said he could solve this problem, but it did not. I use McAfee Total Protection Service and it automatically uninstalls the Windows Firewall. Even if I disable McAfee error code is displayed. If anyone can help with this? Thank you

    What is a Win7 64 bit computer?

Your time settings, date & time zone are all correct?

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

  • Windows 7 - error Code: 80000004 (cannot install updates)

Up to this point, I never had problems with Windows Update, but over the last week have not constantly of my updates. At the beginning, I had about ten or fifteen years updates that all has failed. All but two, updates failed with Code 800F0826, including a search on the internet mention secondary code, which indicates that the update failed, but another update with a different code was at the origin of the problem. So I tried to run all the updates with the code 800F0826, he crossed without incident.

The other two updates failed with Code 80000004, which I can't find a single move on, through the help on Windows Update or through internet research.

The two specific updates that fail have done so consistently for several days, if I try to install alone or together, manually, or through the automatic update settings, that I put in place.

Two updates that fail are as follows:

Update security for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB2378111)

    Error details: Code 80000004

    Installation status: failed

    Update type: Important
