  • 10.11.5 OSX Windows 7 folders update connection failed

I recently updated my Mac OSX 10.11.5.  Before the update I was on before the most recent version, not sure what the previous issue, but I was already in El Capito.  I have a MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inch, mid-2014)

I got a Setup FROM my windows desktop PC 7 very basic file sharing.  I had shared folders on my Windows 7 PC WITH no password protection.  I'm not using residential groups or anything like that, just the standard function where you right click on the folder in windows 7, click Properties, and then use the tab share to allow everyone on the network to access some files.

Normally I opened finder on my macbook, click on my windows PC in the left column under the shared section.  The windows PC is called "yale-pc."  I would be invited on the macbook to connect or log in as a guest.  I've always had to sign in as a guest, the connection method requires a password, but once again the windows network has no password.  Once logged in as a guest I could open my windows folder and select the media for playback on the macbook.

Nothing has changed on my windows PC.  All my other devices on the network still work correctly and can access the files on my windows 7 PC with no problems at all, so I know he's still working.

But on my macbook when I choose now the connection as a guest mac says "failed to connect".  Even the shortcut I had on the Mac Office to link directly to a folder called 'TV' on my windows computer I have the same problem.  In my view, this recent update I read was in large part on securing network connections caused a buggy script where I can access is no longer my computer shared folders on windows correctly.

If I use the finder and select the go menu, then click on to connect to the server and attempt to connect to "yale-pc", I get an actual error with this method.  I will include a screenshot of the error.

The last absolutely more confusing part is when I introduce a 3rd computer to test.  I have another windows 7 PC called "pc game" I pulled this high unit strictly for testing purposes.  All my other computers at home can see "pc game" shared files without problem.

When I try to connect to "pc game" my Mac, I have the same problems.  HOWEVER for some reason, in the shared finder column, if I click on "yale-pc" then "pc game" and then click BACK to the "yale-pc" IT WORKS!  I can access and read my files of the 'yale-pc' on my mac.  But it only works if I turn on both my computers windows 7, then alternatively by selecting one and then the other in the lookup column.  This proves that it IS possible for my Mac to connect, but only with the extremely annoying method which requires me to run on two computers separate windows just to access the files, I need one.

Like a fool, I don't have a time machine backup that is not an option.

No idea what's going on, I use my mac daily to access the multimedia video files from Windows PC that has made the hard drive space to hold my collection.

    Any ideas?

I'm having exactly the same problem after the update!

    Thus the same error message

but it is impossible to connect to my pc network

    any idea please?

    Ideas please

If you have a Toshiba SSD in your laptop there is a problem in windows 7, making it impossible to connect to the system when the storage TOSHIBA utilities are installed. In this case, you will need to find a way to get the system and uninstalling.

  • Satellite P200 - failed to connect to the Windows Services

After starting Windows Vista on my Satellite P200, I received a message: failed to connect to any Windows Services. The event notification system file are not available.
Use restricted to the mode of administration.

No network supports either (wifi, Ethernet,...). At least I can use the PC in batch mode!
Unable to retrieve a previous saved file system.

I need to restore my Toshiba restore disk Win Vista?

Do you offer a lighter solution?

It's strange, but what you mean with batch mode?

I think the best way is to reinstall Windows with the recovery disk. It only takes a few minutes and then you have the new installation of Windows with all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

    (5) I tried to get the Device Manager to recognize the software.  When I click on «!» OfficeJet 6400 series', I get the message "the drivers for this device are not installed (code 28).  If I then click on 'Update Driver' and select' Browse my computer for driver software"then click on"Browse "C:\Users\Myname\Downloads", where I have the Sofware HP 13.0 full feature software and basic print and Scan Driver files, he says "Windows cannot find driver software".   If I click on "Search automatically by the driver software", I get the same message.

    HELP PLZ

    Hi Jesse310,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

    • When you get this error message?
    • You are able to boot to the desktop?
    • What is the version of Windows installed on the computer?

This can happen more often if the user account is corrupted or some missing files.

First of all, I would say that run you a virus scan online on the computer to scan and remove infections of viruses or malware on the computer and check if it works.

See the link below for the on-line virus scan and perform a full scan of service on the computer.

    http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

If you are unable to boot to the desktop in normal mode, I would say that you start the computer in safe mode with network and try the online scan.

Steps to start in safe mode with networking

1 restart your computer if it is running.

    2. tap on the F8 key after your initially on powers computer.

    3. Once you see the menu Advanced Boot Options, you can stop tapping.

    4. use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.

    5. Select Mode safe mode with networking and press ENTER.

    6. you should see loading drivers and wait please.

    7. you should then be at the Welcome screen.

    8. connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/323ef48f-7b93-4079-a48a-5c58eec904a11033.mspx

If the step above does not resolve the question suggests that you perform the clean boot procedure and check if it works.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Perform the check and the clean boot if you have the problem

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    User account control permission

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If the problem is resolved to check what is the cause of the problem, referring to the link given below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

  • Vista problem: "failed to connect to the windows service, Windows cannot connect to the system event.

I have reported this problem on my PC at home that connects to the internet. My laptop runs Vista Home Premium and I can't connect to the internet. I took my laptop on a trip, tried to connect to the wireless network that was free to the place we are. Could not connect, and after this initial test, the following is displayed after the start of "failed to connect to the Windows Service, Windows cannot connect to the system event notification service. This problem prevents limited users to logon to the system. As administratvie user, you can view the system event log to see why the service did not respond. "(have no idea how or what it means) when I go to the task bar you want to connect to a network, it is said:" the dependency service or group could not start"and if I go ahead and press"connect to a network"it says it can't find.  I search for computers on the network (who I'm sitting next to) and then try to diagnose the problem and it cannot. I have limited knowledge of this type of problem. Anyone have this problem and how to fix it?

    Hi ptkein,

Please remove Kaspersky, restart and then reinstall in custom mode and remove analysis when it is presented e-mail messages.

Other than that, the only thing I can think is your modem or router. That's assuming that all of your settings are correct.

  • Windows Media Center extender on my XBOX works initially, but not after reboot of my XBOX. Error: Failed to connect to the Xbox 360 could not connect to the windows Media Center computer.

It's VERY odd and very annoying!

I set up my laptop next to my Xbox 360 with an Ethernet cable directly connecting the laptop to the XBOX, and the laptop is on our wireless network. The XBOX has access to the internet (shared through the laptop), and when I test the PC connection and the connection XBOX Live sound fine to all.

So I'll try to set up Windows Media Center, it works great! I "Add Extender", put the code to 8 digits. It passes through the installation, all works, no problems and WMC opens on the XBOX, I can go into my library, watch movies etc... works great!

However! As soon as I turn my XBOX off and back on, it will fail to connect to the WMC.

He says his 'find Windows Media Center PC' which seems to work fine, it goes to the ' Windows Media Center loading screen "contact...". ", and after about 10 seconds, I get an error"failed to connect the Xbox 360 could not connect to windows Media Center PC. Make sure that the PC is turned on and connected to the network.

I tried to configure the Extender repeatedly, whenever it works fine until I restart the XBOX... :/ - and its strange cause I still the internet connection (shared through the laptop) after turning on the XBOX, its really JUST Media Center which is screwing around.

She continues to keep trying to connect then repeatedly fails.

If I wanted to, I could re-configuration the WMC Extender EVERY TIME turn off the Xbox, which works the first time without fault, but that's all just stupid.

I can't really understand what is happening here... any help would be appreciated.
