  • Cannot close the bookmark sidebar

I use FireFox on Windows XP SP3.

I chose a bookmark in the bookmark drop down menu. Instead open a new tab, the URL to the bookmark opened in the bookmark sidebar to the left of the main tab content.

Now, I can't close or destroy the Bookmark sidebar. It takes a lot of the screen and it's very frustrating that I can't close or minimize.

Please let me know if you have any tips on what to do to get rid of him.

    Thank you.

    Update:

I was able to close the sidebar by selecting the menu item view > sidebar > bookmarks. So, the problem is almost solved. However, I wasn't able to get the sidebar to close by selecting the x in the upper right of the sidebar. There seems to be a bug in this mechanism to close the sidebar.

    Thank you.

Bookmarks that open in the sidebar is the default value for the bookmarks created via a link or a button on a Web site to add a bookmark for this site.

    • Check the properties of a bookmark using the context menu in the side bar (Ctrl + B; Cmd + B on Mac).
    • In the Bookmark Manager (Bookmarks > show all bookmarks) you can click on the button more in the lower details pane on the right.
    • Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected (uncheck it).

  • When I want to bookmark a page, how can I know FF which folder in bookmarks in place?

I've just updated to V29 and my favorite features are missing. The first is the drop down menu that allowed me to specify the folder in which I want to a new bookmark in place. The new star of the bookmark is just all new bookmarks in a pen. (Ugh!) The second is the disappearance of the signet Library window that allowed me to easily make a bunch of changes and re - org many bookmarks easily... Y at - it to get to a window similar to the new version?

    To bookmark, to do this.

For the current page, right-click and select
    Put bookmark this Page.

A link on the page, right-click on the link and select
    Put bookmark this Page.

You should then see a window titled bookmark

The top input box is the name of the bookmark. The default value is the
the page / link name. But you can change it to what you want.

Under that is a box labeled folder. This is where the bookmark will be
stored. BUT, if you want the bookmark to another folder, press
arrow down to the far right.

  • How the bookmark sidebar to restore its position of scroll at startup of Firefox?

Why Firefox not restore the sidebar bookmark scroll position and open folders to the exact state it was when I closed the browser?
I confess I have far too many bookmarks, but especially then restore the scroll position and open folders is essential for me.
Is it all "subject: config ' setting to fix this?

I don't think that the position of ScrollBar to the bookmarks bar is stored in the file localstore.rdf (does not for me also), so you can't keep this position in a session.

  • Remove the extraneous information in the bookmarks sidebar

Is attached a screenshot of Mozilla Firefox 42 on my Windows 7 PC. I like having the bookmarks bar, but want to remove the foreign text following at the top of the sidebar:

    1. the word "Bookmarks" immediately under the top left of the sidebar bookmarks bar
    2. the word "Seek" and next to it search engine
    3. the words "Personal bar" in the search window. (Even if I hold the toolbar of bookmarks with links to those sites that I visit often to be visible. I just useless the 'personal bar' on the box.)

Please look at the picture before you answer. This will make clear what I'm trying to delete.

Any tips? Thanks for your help.

You can hide the line with the tag of Favorites and the close icon and the search by the userChrome.css code bar, but you can't hide the bookmarks toolbar because this entire content consists of a single treechildren element.

Add code to the file userChrome.css below default @namespace.

    @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

    #sidebar-header, #search-box { display:none!important; }

The file userChrome.css (UI) customization and userContent.css (Web sites) are located in the folder of chrome in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

    • Create the folder chrome (lowercase) in the .default < xxxxxxxx > profile folder if the folder does not exist
    • Use a text editor like Notepad to create a userChrome.css (new) file in the folder chrome (file name is case sensitive)
    • Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the Editor window
    • Make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
    • Make sure that you select "All files" and not "text files" when you save the file via "save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css.
Otherwise, Windows can add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with one does not not userChrome.css.txt file

  • 36.0.1 under Windows 7 Firefox crashes on the first click, can't kill processes

After the 36.0.1 on a Windows 7 computer, Firefox crashes after the first click on a link or when you try to open a new tab. I can't kill the process from the Task Manager. Need to reboot to get rid of the process.

My attempts to solve the problem so far:
Uninstalled Firefox & my anti-virus program, removed Mozilla dirs Program Files and AppData and cleaned the registry. Then reinstalled Firefox after the restart, still hangs on the first click on a link. Even impossible to kill the process, help to only to restart.

I tried on another Windows user; does not help. Still the same symptoms.
