Windows 7 Home Premium 64: search / indexing does not.

I've seen several posts here with this problem and you have tried all of the suggestions. The problem is 'research' does not work in Explorer or the start menu.

I have a file open, for test purposes and by looking at the file (even highlighted) and put his name in the search box and received the response "no item corresponding to your search." If I choose the "search again: [computer]" it will be after a slow search to find everything the file but not will not find him in regular or start menu search.

Rebuild the Index in "Indexing Options" does not the long promised but complete in seconds with a result ranging from '7 items indexed' and '252 points' - he is never consistent and never anywhere near the number of files I have.

If I add new files it will find them for a brief moment, then they too return a "no items match your search result."

I tried the following command to fix the situation:

-Create a new user account: I followed the procedure and on the copy of old user profile to the new user profile, while in the transition user profile, he "found" 24 elements and copied. Connecting to the new user profile are none of the files of the former one. I tried this several times exactly according to the instructions and the same result. I then created a new profile and copied files from an external drive in there to check: exactly the same problem, he would find the files once they had been displaced, but not after the reboot. Try to rebuild the indexes in the new profile has resulted in inconsistent performance.

-sfc/scannow can't find any missing file or damaged

-"problems of search and indexing" don't find any problem and directed me here

-fix the KB977380 did not work

-Restore my computer to factory settings did not work (when restored to factory settings I transferred some music files to the external drive before installing other programs, such as professional Outlook 2010, the search worked when they first moved but then the same problem shortly after 'no element doesn't match your search' results and inconsistent and weak results and rebuild index.)

Try to be as accurate as possible, I think at this point, I've tried everything without success.

Fixed for me and I hope to others, the problem is McAfee SecurityCenter. Once uninstalled / indexing of research works perfectly. I see that at least someone else is a Dell machine that currently has an offer Prepackaging McAfee with its computers. I made Dell aware of this problem and I hope that this fix will work for others experience this. I have, of course, installed new security programs, and they have no impact on the indexation/research work as it should.

I post here the link to the page of McAfee own support of the forum on this subject: http://community.mcafee.com/message/138193

  • Upgrading from Windows Vista Home Premium at 8 - CPU does not support NX

    Hello

I have Vista Home Premium (very probably OEM as it came with the PC) on a PC and I bought the upgrade license to Windows 8 Pro.
I understand that it is in terms of the license transition, but here is my problem:
The CPU does not support NX (and for sure there is no setting in the BIOS for this).
    So I can't move to 8.
To replace the CPU, I need to replace the motherboard.
If I replace the motherboard my understanding is I'm losing the license because it OEM.
So, in reality, I can't switch to Win 8.
The license, I bought said that I can pass any system running XP, Vista, Win 7 to 8 Win.
It does not distinguish between older versions of Windows OEM and retail versions.
For me, it's a huge conflict.
    So the question is:
Can I change the CPU + motherboard to earn 8? or not?
    Thank you
It has been some time but I finally had the time to do the upgrade (hardware + software).
For history and for others who could come on this post with a similar question and be discouraged by responses like this:
I contacted the technical support of MS and they confirmed that I had a Windows 8 Pro upgrade license and after upgrading my license would Win 8 Pro full-detail (what you want to call it). Essentially, after upgrade, I can reinstall any other motherboard. Of course you can only use a license on a machine at one time.
(Of course your upgrade license type may be different to mine, so you should check they type of license)
In any case, what is more interesting, it of that I got the confirmation that I can do a clean install and activate my upgrade license. Not only that, but they recommended the installation of Vista should not be present when installing on 8 to win. I was very skeptical and I asked for an account of the cat to be on the right side. They assured me that the support had made several times and is not a problem.
And so, I do a clean install on the new motherboard (and a new player) and activated windows 8 with no problems at all.
It seems very stupid that you can change the motherboard after the upgrade, but could not make the move and the Windows update at the same time. Fortunately, it is not the case.
To me, it seems that the MS are aware that in you to go from XP (soon), they should also use the materials for the upgrade.
  • In windows Vista (Home Premium) Remote Desktop connection does not work correctly

I installed and re-installed my Vista (Home premium) 2 times already because of the remote desktop connection.  I have a problem connecting from another laptop running windows 7 to connect to my desktop running Vista.  The remote control works on the other hand the meaning of desktop running vista, laptop running windows 7 Professional.
Looking at the Vista under \System\Remote setting\Remote tab which shows the remote assistance box, but the Office box where you can choose what type of connection can be established remotely is missing.

I went though all as responses to forum, but nothing helped.  Even in a "sfc/scannow" command prompt running did not help.  It is said that he finds corrupted files, but it cannot solve all corrupted files.  That's why I reinstalled windows hoping to fix this problem but WITHOUT SUCCESS.

Can anyone help?  I've attached a screenshot of what I see in vista.

  • You want to upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7 Professional. I ran the Windows Upgrade Advisor, and he told me that I can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium and Ultimate. Why not professional?

I want to install Windows 7 Professional.  I ran the Windows Upgrade Advisor, and he told me that I can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium and Ultimate. Why not professional? Or is this correct?

You can still install Windows 7 Pro, but it requires a custom installation. This will remove all your programs (you will need to reinstall them), but you can save your files and settings to external storage before doing so.

If you want to make a place in the upgrade you will need Home Premium or Ultimate.

What Upgrade Options are available for Windows 7?
If you are running Windows Vista , in some cases you can proceed directly to Windows 7, and in other cases, you must perform a custom installation. The following table shows what editions of Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7.

    Windows Vista Home Basic

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Business

Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

My search indexer is not indexed parameters locations I do and after a day or two, he returns to the original setting whicgh was the Start Menu.  I changed the indexed locations to include most of my C drive, and it indexes all (the search function works well for awhile) but a day or two later, when I do a search, nothing comes.  I double-check the settings and find that it has been restored to the original indexed locations.

When you request support, please provide the model name and product number complete (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are on the bottom of your computer, inside the battery compartment or on the BIOS boot screen. Please see How can I find my model number or product number? for help more to find this information. DO NOT include your serial number. Please enter the product/model information consumer HP Online Support page and post it here for our review.

Please use the support of HP recovery, you created when you first you computer Configuration. If you don't create this media, please contact the official support HP customer in your region / country, via the Portal Support HP's worldwide, to see if the HP recovery support is available for your computer.

If you found "recovered" or the Windows product key from the old hard drive, it will not work. The key to the used factory also requires a SLP/SLIC 2.1 BIOS and an appropriate OEM SLP/SLIC certificate.

Alternatively, if you can still read the 25 characters on the COA affixed Microsoft Windows product key at the bottom of the computer, you can install Windows 7 Home Basic by using this key. Please see "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" to get instructions on how to download Windows 7, create the installation media and install Windows 7 using the product key 25 character of the COA Microsoft on your computer. Please note that this facility is not all customizations of HP or HP value-added that was original installed on your computer. Also note that you will need to download and install most of the drivers from the HP support for your computer page.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium on OEM PC suddenly not authentic: 0xC004F063

In my care, I have a laptop HP Pavilion G72-261US PC preinstalled with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x 64.  The COA is present, but three years of light to a normal use rubbed most of the ink, including all product keys.  All of the evidence whether a genuine COA remain except for the key.

He met recently with a series of incidents of malicious software, probably the initial cause of Windows 7 in a State not authentic and the owner contacted HP for support later.  At the insistence of their support, the owner has entered a new product key and activation failed since then.  While in my care, I tried to get this product key, but WGA fails with 0xC004F050 error (it's a default key?).

While in my care, I removed malicious software reset and other unwanted programs, search engines and Add-ons, the winsock catalog, performed an integrity check of system with "sfc/scannow" and installed Important updates via Windows Update.  Among the unwanted programs ScorpionSaver Services of Adpeak, Inc., and before the entry into my care she had himself installed in the winsock catalog.

An upgrade on the spot arrived at an unknown point in the past, and an OEM product key was found in the Windows.old directory.  However, the activation fails on this key with error 0xC004F063.

How to reactivate Windows on this PC?

The laptop is more in my care.  He had a resolution, but neither I nor the owner were satisfied.

The recovery partition was there and available as an option, but the owner decided it was too costly in time and labour required.

I finally found a phone number for the MPA (validated by a moderator of forum here in another thread), and the officer indicated that the product key has been blocked by HP, HP gave the owner of the default key.  A call to HP support has led agent firmly refusing the blocking of any Microsoft product key, so it went in a circle dedicated to uselessness.

The owner has decided to buy a new key to get a real Kit rather than face any more frustration, and Windows has been activated successfully.

  • Vista Search & indexing does not work

When I go to Control Panel/Indexing Options/Advanced/show Options all the locations of some files are to check, but the OS(c:) est grisée.) I had turned off at the same time & now cannot get it turned back on.

    How to make this work?

    Why indexing taking so long?

Why can't stop indexing or turn it off for awhile (it interferes with other programs sometimes)?

Why seek complex with a bunch of drop downs and it usually does not even get just a subfolder. I searched (using the F command) 3 letters in a title only and got a response from an area not indexed that contains NONE of the letters, and it took several minutes. @!

Some MS answers say to use the troubleshooting Index feature, but it doesn't seem to be indexing window.

    Hello

These two showed more problems of search for Windows 7, however, they also seem to be
able to affect Vista as well.

    1. one thing that seems to have an impact on several is the bit REACH has been set on some files
Index cannot be set and search for cannot be found. So the ATTRIB-a *. * bps, which means archive
is REMOVED for the files in the folder/directory Parent (top) and those in all the subfolders/sup-
    directories.

    ------------

2 another problem seems to be McAfee and some other antivirus programs are interfering with the
Index or search functions. McAfee, must be uninstalled using the uninstall routine in
Windows AND the removal of McAfee too of course no remains are left. (Possibly other antivirus
programs are also what causes this error.) Of course, you want to move to another antivirus
MSE (Microsoft Essentials), Avast or other.
