Windows 7 HPSF.exe has stopped working on my Compaq laptop

I have a Compaq Presario CQ 57 Notebook PC and after a few updates have been installed, yesterday I got a message that my HPSF.exe has stopped working.  I tried to download one, after I removed the program and restarted but it did not work, perhaps because I do not have windows 8 or my provider Internet could slow down.  Could someone help?  I just bought this computer about 7 months ago.  This will damage my computer by not only not this program now? Thank you

Hello

There is certainly no problem with your laptop computer without this application installed - personally, I've never used this application (other than for testing).

If you do not want ot reinstall the application, I suggest to install Firefox and use this browser to download and install the latest version of HPSA.

Best regards

When I try to open HP Support Assistant, I get an error message that hpsf.exe has stopped working. Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. My warranty expired on 12/09/2012. HP Support Assistant disappears when the warranty expires. If this isn't what someone has an idea how I can fix?

    Hello

It's nothing to do with your warranty ending, however this can be a fickle piece of software.

    Try the following.

Firstly, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant using Microsoft 'Fixit' at the following link: this is particularly useful for correcting problems that may prevent resettlement on the machines running a 64 bit OS.

Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx and download, install and run Autoruns and go to the tab all.  Check the list for an entry including DitExp.exe or your card reader.  Remove the box in front of the entrance, click OK and restart.  The message should appear is no longer.

If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

Start in safe mode with network and see if the problem is here.  A result allows us to narrow down the search for the cause.

I hope this helps. Keep me posted.

Recently bought studio 15 laptop with windows 7 and I try to run need for speed pc underground game on her, but she does not appear and the message "speed.exe has stopped working" appears on the screen. can someone help us?

    Hi Andy,.

I checked the reported compatibility list, and the game is listed as compatible.  Work in 64-bit or 32-bit Windows 7?  I will try to reinstall the game, if you did an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 recently.  If it is a new installation and does not, please visit the EA's Web site to get the latest patch for the game to see if that helps address your problem.  Let me know if you've done all that and you still have questions, and we can try something else.

  • get the message "setup.exe has stopped working" when trying to install labview 2011 or 2012 on a windows machine 7

When you try to install labview 2011 or 2012 on a windows machine 7, I get a message "setup.exe has stopped working". I tried to run setup.exe as an administrator with the same results. I have Microsoft .NET Framework installed on the affected machine 4.5.1. Could be the cause of this problem? Or does anyone know the root cause of this error?

Hi - are you getting it at the beginning of installation, during or after 100% progression ended?

Is it fair to LabVIEW you install, or is it drivers too, in this case, what was the last big package that has been installed at the time?

This can be caused by the NVIDIA chipset driver:

  • Windows Vista. Setup.exe has stopped working and I can't get the program to load.

I have a Gateway laptop with Windows Vista.  I put Norton anti-virus on it last year.  Now I am trying to run the new disk of Norton and the computer tells me that setup.exe has stopped working and I can't run the program. Norton 2008 has been removed.

Download/run their abovelink Norton Uninstall tool to ensure that all "Norton" is deleted.

Then, right-click on the setup.exe Norton > run as admin.

  • 34957172.exe has stopped working and was closed. Windows error message

Since the installation of Service Pack 2 for Vista, I receive the following error message that causes my computer to freeze - "34957172.exe has stopped working and was closed.  A problem with the application to stop functioning properly.  Windows will notify you if a solution is available. "How can I solve this problem

    Hi SherriTeille,

    (1) what is you receive the exact error message?

    (2) when exactly you get the error message?

Method 1: If a Protection of resources Windows (WRP) file is missing or is damaged, Windows may not behave as expected. Auditor of file system (CFS) scan to fix all of the corrupted system files. To do this, follow the steps mentioned in the link below:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Method 2:  Put the computer to boot and then check if the problem persists

Follow step 1 in the link below,
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.

Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service.

After find you the program that is causing the problem, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program, if you rarely use that you should consider uninstalling the software.

Important: n ' forget not to put the computer to a normal startup follow step 7 in the link

Earlier, I heard another ad for the outdoor channel. Help, please!

I have Vista I know makes a difference in what I do.

It looks like something very funky happening with your Internet Explorer program.  It looks much like malware to me, but if you ran several scans with different products, then that may not be the case.  You can try several above - but you probably won't find anything (but you might--sometimes a virus is very sneaky and that one or two anti-malware programs are able to deal with them).

Since it seems to be a problem with Internet Explorer, I suggest that repost you your question (with a link to this topic so that they will know what's already been tried) to the Forum of Internet Explorer http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/threads where people who specialize in issues of IE will be happy to help you with your problem.
