Windows 7 is extremely slow to start

Start so slow windows 7

* original title - why Windows 7 does take so long to start? 20 minutes. *

Hi Superzach,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft windows7 answers Forum.

Windows 7 minimum hardware requirements:

4. Select safe mode and press enter

5. try to boot to the desktop

Method II:

I suggest you to start the computer in a clean boot, either disable non-Microsoft services.

The turn off non-Microsoft services aims to check if one of these services is

The origin of the problem. Follow the steps below to start the computer in a clean boot:

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

1. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

2. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

3. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

If the problem is resolved to check what is the cause of the problem, referring to the link given below?

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • Windows Vista Ultimate EXTREMELY slow

OK, so I installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my computer, I like it, but it is extremely slow.

The shape of plug the computer are as follows:

    AMD Sempion 1.64 Ghz processor

    480 MB of RAM

    HDD 40 gig

This should be enough to start. I wonder how can I speed up a bit I've run Diskcheck and defrag and Dick Clean-up with very little progress. Just don't have the money for the extra RAM right now either so if there is a way to speed it up without buying extra RAM, I would like to know.

It's no surprise that it is extremely slow. You have * way * too little
RAM and you will never get a decent performance with this amount. 1 GB
is the minimum necessary for performance * beginning * become
acceptable for people whose needs are very light (because their)
using the application is light). But for almost everyone, is at least 2 GB
really need or that you are satisfied with the performance.

In addition, a 40 GB hard drive is * small *. This isn't a performance problem,
but unless you do not do much with your computer, you will be running
more disk space very soon. You should have at least 160 GB or more.

  • Windows 7 is extremely slow to return to the screen saver mode.

I installed upgrading Windows 7 on my computer and everything is fine.  However, when the system is idle and past in mode screensaver (with or without a password), the return of the screen saver mode are extremely slow (just a white screen).  It is sometimes quick, sometimes it comes back in 3-4 minutes, but most of the time it takes a long time.

The system is a low end, but more than enough to manage w7.  It consist of:
    Pentium dual core (2140)
    2 gig memory
    NVIDIA 7300GT 256M

I tried to delete the zone alarm security suite, does not solve the problem
thought it was the HP 2610 print software, removed and still happens.
    update the bios (MSI p4m900)

can someone figure this.  Is there something that prevents him to return to the desktop.

Note that, I try to reboot from the blank screen by pressing the windows, right arrow, return.  But I think also, it does not address key strokes.

    THX

I found a way to fix it! I did this:

    1. Press win + r and run msconfig. Go to tools and brand to troubleshoot the computer, and then click Start.

    2. then go to system and security and press electricityballance (not sure of the name in English because I have a Norwegian version..).

    3. restart your computer.

    4. my screen saver was not afterwards, but I gave it to display photos and now it works perfectly!

When I checked the general tab afterwards, it did not have the checkbox to use the... start (a last..) one has been verified and the second has a blue full mark.

  • Windows Live Mail extremely slow

Read your own posts, but they offer no concrete solution.

Windows Live Mail is extremely slow on all actions, such as selection, type, transmission, reception, everything, to the point where it is impractical and unusable.

I have a brand new HP Elite, Windows Vista Home Premium x 64, to this day, virus scanned, etc.. All programs work well, including Windows Mail. But Windows Live Mail service is really too slow to be of any use.

I have not agreed to update to IE8 because of many problems posted with it, that's why I continue to use IE7.

Is there a real fix to the extremely slow problem Windows Live Mail? The plethora of forums and posts on this specific topic, it seems that we, potential users are out of luck. Please advice and correct.

  • Windows XP computer is slow to start and stop.

original title: PC is VERY slow

It takes awhile to start and turns off, surfing is quite slow as well. How do I speed it up?

Some reasons for the slow pace of the computer:

    1. computer has not been maintained - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Maintenance

    2. the computer is infected with the malware - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

    3. the disk is too full. Remove useless stuff, uninstall unused programs. Do not forget to save!
    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Backing_Up

    4. flaky third party software. Toolbars and modules are particularly guilty in this area. Uninstall toolbars (Google, Yahoo, ISP brand, etc) and look at what modules are in use in your browser (s).

    5. computer has too many unnecessary programs/processes running in the background. Manage your Startup:

For XP - How to troubleshoot using the Msconfig in Windows XP utility - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310560
The free Autoruns program is very useful for managing your Startup - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/default.mspx

For Vista/Windows7 - Start Orb > Search box > type: msconfig and when it appears in the results area above, right-click and choose 'run as administrator '. Autoruns is also very useful.

    6. the user runs an inflated/invasive such as Norton and McAfee antivirus program. Replace it with a better program. I recommend NOD32 (commercial) or Avast (free). Avira is also good, but the free version has an unpleasant reminder screen (Google for instructions on how to disable it). The user can also run several real-time antivirus/firewall/security programs.

    7. the user has installed new programs that are processor and/or memory-intensive (Photoshop, AutoCAD, Mathmatica or similar) and does not have the power of the equipment.

8 drive fails and is in PIO Mode (IDE only - not applicable for disks SATA drives). It's very much slow (like being in 1985). See Hans-Georg Michna here information -http://winhlp.com/?q=node/10

If the hotfix registry PIO only 'glue' (or you have a SATA drive), the drive is probably faulty and needs to be tested.
    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Hardware_Tshoot

In addition to the above, see also http://miekiemoes.blogspot.com/2008/02/help-my-computer-is-slow.html

Note: If the computer has always been slow, in addition to the above user may have bought a machine with a less powerful processor and not enough RAM (memory). The normal use of the computer, 512 MB to 1 GB is sufficient for XP; Vista should have a minimum of 2 GB; Windows 7 is less demanding than Vista, but the minimum of 2 GB should also be used.

  • Windows xp sometimes extremely slow, to connect to the Internet.

Sometimes, when I log on the Internet there is a long wait to connect, other times I get a quick response.  Times slower than fast times.

    Hi kendriver,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You get the error message?

    ·         You use Internet Explorer? If so, what version are you using?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Follow the steps in the article.

Possible issues and resolutions for slow connection in Windows XP speeds

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310590

Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

I timed it the other day; It has taken almost five minutes for Windows enter the mode 'sleep'. I tried to turn it back on, and it took literally five minutes before the logon screen appears. If it helps, I run the 64-bit version on a HP laptop with 4 GB of ram. The processor is an AMD Turion 64 X 2 TL - 60 to 2 GHz. I can provide more information if necessary. • Windows 7 very very slow to start

New installation of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on desktop PC.  Only other thing installed is chrome plated and microsoft security essentials.  All updates done.  It takes 20 minutes to start.  He's here with the windows on the monitor screen.  No 3rd software part on it except chrome.  When he finally gets it, it works fine (the research and internet access).  PC hardware is suitable for the application, even if I forgot the exact specifications.

    Thoughts?

    How do I diagnose this?

KK.  Thanks for the help.  Ran tests and seems to be the same.  Thanks for all the help and answers.

However, it seems I've found the problem.  Something really stupid and simple.  I got "help" during the construction of this PC of some well-meaning friends.  I did not notice that the VGA and DVI cables were connected to graphics card to display.  Apparently, he got confused with the two signals coming.  When I unplugged the VGA cable, all right now.  Great indicator was that the system would be * out when the display went to sleep - always.

So we can put this one to bed...

  • Windows 7 computer is slow to start

After I put on computer, it begins to start - first logo dell from windows... so I have a black for about 15 seconds until the Welcome screen, which takes about 35 seconds - then a black for about 10 seconds screen and appears then the taskbar and the desktop starts slowly to fill.

How can I troubleshhot these screens to return?

A clean boot, try (as a test). Who starts quickly? (a time tested and studied, don't forget to reset - step 3)

It might be that the OS just needs a little maintenance, so try a Disk Cleanup, disk error checking, disk defragmentation run a check of the sfc/scannow . They can help, depending on what is actually causing the problem.

Run a check of malware (just in case!). Download, install, update (by right clicking on its icon and 'run as administrator' then go to the update tab) and run a complete scan with free Malwarebytes.

  • Firefox is extremely slow to * start * loading a page

    Hi all
I love Firefox on the desktop and it is the only browser I want to use on mobile as well, but it is unusable.

Load application is fast, which works very well. It is when I go to load a page, that I have to wait 5-10 seconds for anything to happen. It is * not * associated network. I tested this by opening a local file on my phone. Firefox opens quickly, but shows the pan for about 6 seconds before displaying the content. It's the same for remote pages. I enter a url, and again, I have to wait. Once past the first delay, the loading bar appears and the downloads page and renders quickly.

There is something going on between application load, download and rendering of the page that really takes a lot of time. It's driving me crazy. Any ideas?

I use firefox on Android on an HTC 4.2.2 27 X. thanks!

It is not normal for Firefox for Android to take 10 seconds. It is a symptom of Adblock Plus. Currently, we know that PDB will cause times of several seconds.
