Windows 7 is not network DeskJet 940c

Hi, I am trying to get a PC running Win7 Home Premium (64 bit) for print on a DJ940c (USB) is connected to another computer on my home network, it's (the two connected PC the router) running Win XP.

When I tried setting up as a network printer, he couldn't find a driver (or native Win7 Windows Update), but I knew from the Web site it is supposed to be a base in Win7.  So, I temporarily plugged the printer directly on PC Win 7 and followed the instructions on the site...

Who finds a driver OK in Win 7 (not Windows update) and it worked (although, curiously, my apps couldn't see it when it has been set as default printer; otherwise they might not).

As I can not configure the connection as a permanent solution, I then re-tried by the network installation, but it still says that it cannot find the drivers.

Any thoughts?

Thank you

Martin

Follow these steps: install the printer via a USB port.  Now, unplug the printer and reconnect it to your XP machine.  On the machine Win 7 go to devices and printers folder, right-click on the Deskjet 940, printer, port properties, add a Port, Local Port, \\XPComputer\Printername (replace appropriate for the computer and the printer share names), OK.

    Hello

I spent 9 months trying to get 2 win7 computers talk to each other. I wonder if its actually not possible.

the reason why I have not set up a homegroup is that I want to add a mac and an old machine winxp to the network.

2 computers - a laptop computer and a desktop computer, the two running win7, both connected to the same router.
The laptop can sometimes see and read and write on the desktop

The Bureau may sometimes see the laptop, but not connect to it. Most of the time that he do not see.

The Office can be seen on the network, but cannot connect to its own hard disks via the network. "Network Error" check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there could be a problem with your network. Click on "diagnose" - when I click on diagnose - "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem.

If I right click on the computers in the windows Explorer, they are both on the same workgroup.

In the network and sharing Center
Laptop base information and setting up of connections network - shows
This computer - Asus (router) - Internet

Basic network information desk and the installer connectsions - shows
This computer - network 5 (no idea what network 5's)-Internet

If I click on "View full map" of the network and sharing Center, computers appear on the diagram, but continuous available to change that is to say, sometimes the laptop seems to connect to the internet through the desktop computer and not the router

In the network and sharing Center if I clik on "Set up a new connection or network" a dialog box appears saying "choose the Wireless router or access point to set up" but nothing appears, it just freezes

Please can someone point me to a forum thread where someone else was having a similar problem and they have actually managed to solve

    Thanks in advance

Is there another way to get this driver?  Computer Windows 7 I try to reconnect a Deskjet 940c is on a network of government agencies.  Even though I have the administrator rights on the machine, a strategy is defined at a higher level which disables the function of Windows Update on this machine.  The Windows Update button is not even.  It seems that there is a place on the HP web site where I could get this driver, but I was not able to find it.  Can you tell me a way I can get this driver without having to use the Windows Update feature?  Thank you.

I tried with the 32-bit and 64-bit versions and downloaded without problem.  You could try one more time, or perhaps download on a less binding system and move files with a CD or thumb drive.

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Community and thanks for posting the question.

According to the description, it looks like Windows XP will not ask for the password.

However, we need some more information about the issue to help you better:

Please help me to answer these questions.

    1. what type of encryption do you use on the router?
    2. do you have the latest drivers for your wireless network card?
Make sure the authentication IEEE 802. 1 x wireless card is disabled, and check if that helps.
    a. click Start, then select run.
    b. in the Run dialog box type ncpa.cpl and click OK.
    c. right click on the wireless network connection iconand select Properties.
    d. click the Wireless Network tab
    e. click on the Properties button next to remove it.
    f. click on the authentication tab, and clear the enable IEEE 802. 1 x authentication for this network check box.
    g. click OK to Update the settings.

  • Windows XP does not ask for password for a secure network, wifi not connecting. Says "validating identity".

Have tried just about everything I can think of. computer is connected to the front secure networks without problem.

More information would be useful.  Windows XP did not support thereafter until SP3 WPA2 wireless encryption, so if you have not installed SP3 and try to authenticate on a network protected by WPA2, it may not work.

Assuming that you do not have SP3 installed, try to go into your wireless network configuration / configuration screen.  (There are several different configurations of wireless, including ZeroConfig, but we do not know that you are using).  All most of them save previous in a 'profile' wireless connections so that when he meets this wireless again, he knows how to configure itself.  Find the section of your configuration screen profile, look for the SSID of the router you are trying to connect, and if you see it, then delete that profile.  This will allow your machine to then reconnect to the router wireless with an open mind.

Sorry to hear that you have to connect to a wireless network adapter trouble.

To help you further on this subject, it would have been really helpful for us if you had

  • Connection Internet lost Windows 7, but not the network connection

I have exactly the same problem as the first post, I have the connection to the internal network to other computers on the network, but not internet connection. This is not related to the download but happens every time at the beginning to the top. I can fix it by disabling the network card and the reactivation, (although the "Wizard" problem does not fix it) I have an internet connection for the rest of the session. It is certainly a problem of Windows 7 and not a hardware problem, it is a clean installation on an ex Vista machine that had no problem with an internet connection. The only programs I have installed are MS Security Essentials and Photoshop. I have read through the entire thread and tried many 'solutions', but none have worked (although I have yet to try the Adobe fix, I'll try it tonight). It is hard to believe that with so much affected that MS have not corrected it yet. I used Windows on different machines of 3 Windows Vista and never had this problem before.

    Hello

On the other hand, there are Millions of computers Windows 7 works without problem too.

Because Windows 7 is a more recent version than most chipsets and drivers of several computers that are out there, it can be also some problems with the network card, or even the router.

Learn more about the manufacturer of the network adapter (or chipset so it is on board) and download the latest Win 7 drivers possible.

Update current drivers with the downloaded drivers.

You can also try to assign the card with a static IP address that is out of reach DHCP IP from the router.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .
