Laptop stuck on "Starting Windows" screen
So, this afternoon, I tried to start my laptop HPG42-373, and it got stuck on "Starting Windows" screen. I ran tests of memory at startup and primary HD, in which startup failed, and primary HD came out with this: "hard disk 1 (303) Quick '. What can I do to solve this problem, if anything, or just to save what I can from my old files?
Hello
303 error code is a disk failure short self-test and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced. This is also consistent with the question of commissioning.
If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.
If you live in the United States, contact HP here.
If you are in another part of the world, begin here.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.
************************************
Concerning access to the data on this HARD drive, here are some options you can try.
1. one possible way to try to recover your files from a disk non-boot is to follow the process described in the link below. The CD of the Ubuntu operating system you create can launched from the CD alone (IE it doesn't have to be installed on the hard drive) and I've often found to successfully extract data even a hard failure. When you created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can save your existing files.
2 another option would be to remove the drive HARD, place it in an external enclosure - is an example of the link below - connect to another PC and see if you can access your files.
External 2.5 HARD drive caddy ".

What can I do, please help me.
Thank you.
Hi Praveen,
Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.
We need more information about the issue so that we can help you better.
1. is Windows 10 still installed on your computer or you have wiped the hard drive?
2. don't you upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10?Thank you for details on the issue.
If Windows 10 is installed, you can downgrade to Windows 7 within 30 days of the upgrade. If it crosses the 30 day limit, the option in the settings that allows you to return to your previous version of Windows will not be available.
Please see this link:
Return to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-10/going-back-to-Windows-7-or-Windows-81However, if you want to install Windows 7 from an external installation media, you can re-create the rack installation of Windows 7 from this link:
https://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/Windows7It is possible that the installation media does not develop properly. Please also make sure that you disconnect all the devices connected to the computer before installing Windows 7.
Note: You may lose programs installed after upgrading Windows 10. I strongly recommend to back up your personal files and data on an external hard drive.
I hope this information helps.

Try to load windows on the new drive, stuck at 'starting windows' screen
So I'm actually down ranking of windows 8 pro to windows 7 pro two 64. I was finally able to get the comp not recongize just load the USB. My problem is that when it does not start, I'm stuck at 'Starting windows' screen I was wondering, perhaps, that I need to format a patition first? It's a new Lenovo warranty hard drive. (Kind of funny how to send CD's for a laptop that doesn't have a cd player only) I looked in the formatting of a usb key, have had some difficulty in finding a reliable way... Thank you
Hi davefromsb,
Windows 8 computers have a bios "UEFI" and so will come with "Secure Boot" as well as "UEFI" only start enabled. Disable secure boot if you do not have and choose start to the "legacy" methods The problem is most likely that the image of Windows 7 which has been engraved on the USB key was burned using an instead of a TPG one MBR partition scheme. I hope this helps.

Hello
There are two options available.
1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office). They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.
2 another option, if you came to laptop with Windows 7, you might consider is to create your own installation disc.
Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).
An example of a COA label can be seen here.
You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( must be the same version - i.e. Home Premium.) Professional etc. - initially supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here. The source of the Image is Digital River.
Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

You may need, additional drivers and software are from here.

Note: The manufacturer was required to provide a way to reinstall Windows. If it is not a set of disks with the computer, there will be a hidden restore partition (do not be confused with the system restore), you would use to return the computer to the State of the OOBE (Out of Box Experience).

Hello
Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.
According to the description of the problem you are facing problems with your Windows 7 computer. The question might be if there is a file system corruption. Then I suggest you to perform auto repair. For the execution of the task, I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps.
Method 1:
When you use the recovery environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot startup issues, first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If this does not resolve the problem, or if you have additional problems manually, use the Bootrec.exe tool.
Because you cannot start the computer, you may need to create a bootable Windows installation media, and then do an auto repair.
If you are using Windows 7 then the link provided below might help you to download and create installation media.
Download Windows 7 Disk Images (ISO files)
Method 2
Try to rebuild the BCD by using the Bootrec.exe tool.
To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows RE. To do this, follow these steps:
Place the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
Press a key when you are prompted. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
Click repair your computer.
Click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.
Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.
See the following link for more information:
How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

Hope this information helps.

My laptop 'stuck' and windows wouldn't load, I had to restart everything (I'm not a technophobe!), on the fact that he told me that I needed to update back to 8.1.
However, I could not do this as he told me that I had to update windows 8 first of all - but update will not work.
What do I do on Earth?

Windows Update, error 0 x 80070490
Step 1: Use SFC system to repair damaged Windows files use System File Checker to repair damaged Windows files. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open an elevated command prompt.
- Run the command "sfc/scannow".
- Try installing the update again.
For more information about the System File Checker tool, see using the tool File Checker system to repair missing or corrupted system files
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833). Step 2: Run the DISM tool if the problem persists, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool to fix corrupt Windows Update errors. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open an elevated command prompt.
- Run the command "DISM.exe Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth".
Important When you run this command, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are necessary to fix corruptions. However, if your Windows Update client is already broken, use a Windows install running as the source of the repair, or use a Windows side-by-side folder from a network share or removable media, such as the Windows DVD, as the source of the files. To do this, run the following command instead:DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth / Source: C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccessNote Replace the placeholder C:\RepairSource\Windows by the location of your source of repair. For more information about using the DISM tool to repair Windows, refer to a windows repair Image

Laptop: laptop does not start
My laptop does not start, how can he?
Hey,.
First, a good thing to try is a hard reset of the computer. The steps are different depending on whether your battery is removable or not. See http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768 for steps and videos covering this first easy step.
If you are still having problems starting to walk through the steps in the troubleshooting online here documents:

Laptop is not starting and CAPS LOCK flashing.
Hello.
I use a laptop HP Pavilion 1125sw g6. The laptop is around the age of 5 months and 2 days ago something strange happened. Let me start from the beginning; I changed the graphic properties of a game and when I pressed 'Make changes', the screen went blank, but the computer still worked. So I turned off (until the battery) and started again, and he went as far as my wallpaper and I have been able to view my wallpaper and all for a minute about and then deleted again screen. I tried to use HP advanced diagnostic tools that arise only when you start, but even with that the screen went white.
The next day, that the laptop has no start, fans were still whirring, but not the BIOS screen came. The CAPS LOCK button flashes at intervals of two, the wireless button is orange, and that's all. Its been like that since. Any suggestions? Please, I beg you! T
Thanks in advance.

Hello
I knew an overheating problem on my laptop.

There was a huge load of dust, so I cleaned it, put new thermal paste...Now computer laptop does not start loading Windows.
It checks only the CD, HARD disk, and that's it.
Screen is blank, ON the indicator led is on.
Two fans periodically start to turn (when they stop radiator heat - so the processor works)Where is the problem?
Thank you
Hi Dubas,
You can access the BIOS when you try to start your laptop? This can give you a clue as to why the OS will not charge.Kind regards

I have the HP pavilion computer laptop windows 7 and I broke the screen about a year, I can't see the start menus. I have been using an external monitor and it has always worked well, but now I can't see how to fix my computer to boot. I did a hard boot but nothing happened, and with a broken screen, I can't see any of my options on how to fix it. It does not start. Looks like it is, but because I don't see the menu F8 or Boot, I can't call themselves that the screen can be done. Help, please.
Hello @SPKaler,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to draw your attention to the HP Forums Guide first time here? Learn how to publish and more.
I read your post on the issue with the laptop won't start does not and wanted to help you! I understand that the screen is damaged and you are using the external monitor to view the screen. However, now that the laptop does not start, you can see is more of the external screen to see what is happening.
From my understanding, you should not be able to see an image on the external monitor, until you start the operating system. You can try to perform a system restore by using this document:
HP computers - performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)
You may be able to follow along, long enough until the image is displayed on the external monitor. Otherwise, you can contact HP support by phone, for additional options.
Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this message as 'accept as Solution', this will help others easily find the information they seek. In addition, by clicking on the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thank you!

Hi, my laptop is not starting, not even the BIOS or the manufacturer logo. I checked the RAM, tried to reset the CMOS battery, removed the HARD drive. At first, it worked for 2 - 3 times, but after 5-6 hours when I turned it on, it does not. I don't think that this is a display problem because windows key + B produces no beep. CPU fan works fine. Help, please.
Hi, the problem was the corruption of the BIOS because of power failure. I have reset the BIOS of the USB.
Thanks for you answers.
