Windows 7 Media Center Live TV and recorded TV no sound.

After the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 and get all the drivers updated, Windows 7 Media Center has no sound for TV or recorded TV, but sound works for all other programs, including just play music in media center.  Reading DVD and Bluray will similarly play with surround sound with HP DVD BD play, then it is certainly not an audio card/driver problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

An additional note: If you look at mixing devices, remember that you have multimedia running. If you do not, it may appear not as part of mixer. When I got a pronlem with no sound in WMC, but WMP worked (as well as my other apps), it turns out be the problem, but you would only see it when WMC is running.

Thanks, my TV sound is is arrested without reason, but everything except the sound effects in media center worked. turned out that some how the mixer was gone the media center to 0 and left it like that.

music media player plays even when he is selected in media center is not affected

  • Windows 7 Media Center Live tv stutter

I know there are many other threads on the web for that matter and I did a lot of reading and DIY, but my problem persists.

Stuttering is particularly bad on some channels, such as the local PBS station, which can rarely go more than 10 seconds without stuttering or throw up artifacts. Most of the other channels are fine. I also have another PC with very similar specs that seems to work on all channels very well, so it doesn't seem to be a signal problem.

The problem does not seem to be linked to the overall performance of the system, hard drive or video card. I'm suspicious about the USB TV tuner, but he got a lot of good reviews on Amazon, so I'd be a bit surprised and disappointed to see that it comes to the question. All the drivers are up to date, and I've tried older drivers and beta drivers for the video card. I also tried to install K-Lite, in which case it's a codec issue, but I can't understand how to use it. Whenever I try to activate a non-Microsoft codec, Media Center gives me a codec error page when I try to watch television. The two hard drives the good score in HD Tach.

I tried to disable various running programs in the background too, but note that the CPU, memory, disk, etc. its stats are rarely anywhere near maxed out when TV is stuttering. An interesting point: the continuous stuttering audible when I reduce Media Center.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My computer stats are as follows:

Uninstall CrashPlan then test your system and see if he still stutters. I spent countless hours trying to understand why all my music and videos stuttered and jumped on my powerful enough system, no matter what program I used to read the media. Even disabling Crashplan has not prevented the saccade, but when I completely removed from my system the jerking went. I installed Crashplan yet and the saccade is back. I wrote in to Crashplan, but they have never met. I love Crashplan for backup, but it is not worthwhile because it ruins the media playback. I'm going to stop paying for the service, if they don't fix it soon.

Give it a shot. When you install again and log into you account it restores all your settings and your backups are intact.
Hope that helps. If it does put a little pressure on Crashplan to repair or provide us with a solution.

  • Windows 7 Media Center live TV warning freezing computer

Hello, I recently installed Windows 7 (Vista upgrade) on my Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop.  I have the manual of the AverTV hybrid express card Tuner in my computer.  Since the upgrade, I can't watch live TV for more than 10 minutes, frost-free photo & finally the computer stops responding.  I downloaded all the latest drivers from Avermedia.
In addition, my graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 M GS.  I will give you further information, you may need to help me with this problem. Thank you!

I think that I finally understand it.  It seems to me that several thousands of Microsoft customers deal with this problem.  Here's what seems to have solved my problem of WMC.

WMC is simply a graphical interface.  He should not be able to manage your video motion capture or other treatment needs.  Instead, your video card needs to do this.

On my ATI/AMD HD3800 Sapphire card, I went in the Catalyst Control Center settings.  Most of them (in fact, probably all the I recall) had checkmarks for "Let application descriptor [motion video capture;]» rendering], etc"I unchecked all these boxes and place gave my instructions to the video card for the card itself to manage video, motion capture, etc.

Voila.  Video beautifully smooth, which also looked richer and sharper to start, was the result.

WMC is a great product, but it's just a GUI, not a substitute for your own video card image rendering.  Say your card to manage all video motion capture and rendering functions, instead of letting these functions to GUI simple applications such as WMC, and I bet you will have a difficulty also.

  • Microsoft has stopped support for Windows 7 Media Center's Electronic Programming Guide?

I've been using the Windows 7 Media Center to watch and record local televisions more of one year.  Now, my guide-schedule is not download new data.  I tried several times to update manually the programming data.  The EPG shows the update succeeded, but no new data is displayed.  Microsoft stopped providing data to guide programming?  If Microsoft still provides programming data, what can I do to fix the problem?  PS: I have similar problems on a second computer.

After re - run the TV Setup at least 100 times, it * finally * downloaded and updated to the source of Rovi.

Keep trying, it will work eventually.  Try to run the TV setup during off-peak hours, such as early in the morning.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium on your desktop Gateway SX2840-01.  I have a HP usb TV tuner.  I'm unable to set up Media Center to receive television through the tuner.  Put in place hangs at the page «Downloading TV setup data»  It just stay there with no error message or another pop ups. The line of progression on the display benchmark does not advance.  If I run troubleshooting, this indicates a problem and "WITHOUT difficulty".  The same tuner hooked to another computer had no problem with installation and operation.  This computer has Win 7 and the same drivers downloaded from the Hauppauge web site that has the entry door.  Please give me some possible fixes to complete set upward on the bridge.  Thank you.

I solved the problem listed in the original post on this thread by disabling Windows Media Center and by removing all the files and folders in the shadow of Microsft eHome folder, then by restarting the computer.  I then enabled Windows Media Center and again rebooted the computer.  Of detailed instructions for each of these steps is available in Googleing or Windows support.

This problem started about 10 days when I used the CD of XP Professional to correct a problem. My computer is a Dell Dimension 5100 and I have two CDs that were sent to me - Dell - Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP 3 and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Version 2005 with update Rollup 2.

  • Try to install the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 - on SP3.

    Hello

All this started when my Xbox360 is dead, sent it for repair, came home another, all hung up and tried to connect to the Media Center. Of course, it did not work and the screen says to uninstall? (something), I forgot today, it has been a long road since then. BUT I uninstalled Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and updates that came after. NOW realize it was a mistake, I'm not of the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 on your computer. And I'm confused regarding why, for the first time, that I can't find a single KB article on this problem.

And even if I did not restore the system off, there is no restore point on my machine.

So I'm always searching in google and microsoft.com but a little lost right now.

    Moccan,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  I would like to know if you read this article for the hotfix rollup: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900325.  In particular the section more information, which has this:

If the 886904 update is installed, you must uninstall the 886904 update before you install the Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Otherwise, the installation of .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 will fail.

To determine whether the 886904 update is installed, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
    2. Click to select the Show updates check box.
    3. In the currently installed programs list, look for the following element:
Fix for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (KB886904)

If you see this option, you must remove the hotfix. To remove the patch, click Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886904), and then click Remove. Then, visit the Windows Update Web sit to download and install the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

  • Windows 7 Media Center blocks access to the recorded TV library

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and it seems that all my drivers work fine. I can watch live TV and netflix indefinitely without problems. However, whenever I have TV access recorded, it hangs about 3 seconds after I access. Even if I just look at the recorded TV screen (3 seconds later it crashes), or if I try to record something (3 seconds later it crashes). Can I change my TV settings without problems and I tried to change the location of the hard drive where they are registered. I also cleaned all of my hard drives a disk check run several times. Any ideas?

    Hello, Brendan

Records how many do you have?

Were you able to watch list without locking in the past?
If so, try to do a system restore to where he worked. You can find instructions on how to do a system restore as well as further information on the following link:System Restore: frequently asked questions

You can also try reinstalling the Media Center.
Go to Start, Control Panel, programs, programs and features, click Windows turn features on or off, in the category media uncheck Windows Media Center, press OK and restart your computer. Then, repeat steps and check the option of Windows Media Center to reinstall it.

  • Media Center is planning a record but didn't and defer to a later date.

Windows XP Media Center 2005 has been in place. 1st symptom was that it would block when calling my TV (usually just sitting on my TV).  Sometimes, he reached the following menu, but will not charge recorded TV or records on demand (just sitting with 'circle' symbol circling).  Discovered that sometimes if I end task through the Task Manager and restart and then not choose my TV but using the shortcut for Live TV I can sometimes get Live TV, sometimes it crashes with 'circle' symbol encircling.  Pointed out that memory almost full (indication AnVir Task Manager).

After reboot, all usually (not always) is clear and that is running. with Media Center.  After reboot, I sometimes have a monitor that is not turn off as it is supposed to (hard drives are supposed to be off, but I haven't checked that)-requires a reset forever and at 10 min., working for the monitor, but still does not go on standby after 15 minutes.

All the foregoing is symptomatic with Media Center (usually) works after the restart.  Media Center records sometimes and sometimes does not.  When it does not usually record it defers to a later date, if available, otherwise no recording until then is a guide and it as if by magic reappears, postponed.

The second tuner (usually used for recording) records while TV Live is on but if scheduled recording is not as long as Media Center is running she sometimes record and this is sometimes not.

Hoping to get help with this, because I searched everywhere and had not found an answer.  All the work around the items, reference Windows 7 and 8 not XP my Dell Dimension C521 shipped with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 pre installed.  I've upgraded to SP3 of XP.  A friend of mine gave me his old Xbox 360 (bought a new unit).  When I try to connect to the XBox 360 I get an error message in media library "uninstall the update for media center 2005 and then re-install the update of the site Web of Windows update.  Then, re-run Setup for Xbox 360'

I checked in my under settinds program control panel, but don't see any element for Media Center 2005, even with show checked all of the updates.  I don't see Media player listed and 2 updates for it.  I have disabled the Windows Firewall did not help.  The Xbox 360 test shows that I can connect to the internet, Xbox Live (no NAT problems) and PC running Media Center.  It fails on the media center connection test.

I don't want to reinstall all of the Dell backup image software supplied with the camera, I'll have to back up and start over.  Any help is welcome!

  • Why Surface does not support WTV (Windows 7 Media Center recorded TV) files?

I have a Windows 7 Media Center, and if I try to open the WTV Recorded TV files I just get a pop up asking me if I want to find an app in the store to play this file format.  Why the Surface can not read files WTV in Windows 7 Media Center?

the bottom line is because there is no decoder DVD on the Surface. If you convert to the
    MP4, the file will play.

  • I have Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with Service Pack 3 and I tried to run Media Center but I get an error message with ehshell.exe.

    original title: error with ehshell.exe

I have Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with Service Pack 3 and I tried to run Media Center but I get an error message with ehshell.exe. Could you help me?

This problem exists since the 1st Media Center. SP2 and SP3 had a difficulty, but it is obvious that it doesn't always. The same problem still exists in Vista today with a lot of other carried over from XP. System restore would work, but you do not have any good restore points so reinstall an operating system seems to be your only option.

You probably don't want to do an OS reinstall you need for Media Center, but since it does not at all, you might want to play then remove the Media Center updates and or SP3 and reinstall them.
